FFXi is awesome exept for the repetitive gameplay past lvl 30.

im just really wondering what's with WoW that everybody seems to die just to get into it. ive played the game and it wasnt really a WOW for me. The graphics is ordinary, gameplay and controls, fine. I mean, for me, im just too bored with the LOTR-ish genre already or medieval... since im a social mmorpg player, i got annoyed when i found out you cant see chat balloon on top of players so you know who is really talkin... i had to look at my chatbox and find the player talkin in the field O_O;; or I maybe I just ddnt see the option to enable that ^^;;but well yeah whatever rocks their boat..

my vote goes to FFXI, man, i havnt played the game but the screenies tell alot. ^_^

WoW is more fast paced and fun, but if your a hardcore gamer don't get upset if you reach maximum level within a few months.

FFXI has alot of value, although the grind after level 30 and forced grouping can sometimes be a nuisance.

Both games I liked overall, i guess if you are a casual gamer go with WoW, if you are hardcore go with FFXI.

i beta tested WoW and i liked it, but im a long time final fantasy fan. I don't know wat i should do. Whats the biggest difference between the two?

  • zensaberzensaber Member UncommonPosts: 787

Me 2 plus FFXI looks better and I played WoW beta and i found that their community sucked hardcore. Sometimes FFXI's community can suck but I really like FFXI.

I've played both WoW and FFXI, and I'm getting EQ2 tommorow. Seems like a good mix between the two, WoW appeals the casual gamers who want fast leveling and PvP, while FFXI is great for PvE with tacticsl group play. And while EQ2 may not have PvP, it does have a challenging PvE. Only if you like to lvl faster and are dependant on PvP, you should get WoW which definetly isn't a bad game.

FFXI and WoW are 2 entirely different games. If you play 8-14 hours a day, I'd go with FFXI.

FFXI - Impossible to solo with almost all classes, a longer grind.
WoW - Soloing and grouping are both possible, and soloing might even give more XP/loot in alot of cases... a very short grind(you'd max out in 1-2 months at 8-14 hours a day... easy).

Ummm.... played Final Fantasy XI for half a year... and the  total fun I had during those 6 months was <= that which I had experienced during my first 2-3 hrs of WoW.....

Why? I am a very casual player that demands IMMERSION, CONTENT, AND FREEDOM

WoW offers all of these, although I do admit that the grouping is not compulsory and lacks the extra few seconds of timing needed in FFX (meaning you have to time your attacks/skills in a group once-twice every battle..... didn't cut the cake for me).

While WoW offers you divergent paths (you can go to disjoint areas and do DISJOINT quests without having to take a LINEAR PATH), FFXI demands a linear playing style to enjoy: If you are playing a solo class, then YOU MUST LEVEL IN A CERTAIN AREA IN ORDER TO GAIN EXP EFFICIENTLY. If you are a party-oriented class (which is essentially every class except for three), then you will have to find a party in a certain region, which could take hours to days.

The solo content in WoW is vastly superior, however, and also permits you to CONVENIENTLY PARTY with people that happen to cross your path. The graphics are also superior (ESPECIALLY THE TERRAIN), even on a geforce 4....

If you can do without socialization, then WoW is certainly your choice

If you desire intense, ubiquitous pvp, then WoW is also your choice (since FFXI only holds the PVP so often for YOUR PARTICULAR NATION: On some days you might have to wait or not even be able to participate at all....)

If you need to constantly interact with people while you are playing (not just chatting), then FFXI might be your thing... even if the game play is less enjoyable, the GRINDING IS MORE INTENSE (and I ABOMINATE grinding, although some people prefer it) and the crafting is JUST AS INTENSE (because it also involves ridiculously boring grinding)..

I love WoW, however, it seems like EQ2 has all the features you would enjoy in FFXI with superior graphics and content.

Hope that helped, even if it's a bunch of opinions.

FFXI sucks i quit a long time ago it got dumb at around lvl 25 so im going to get WoWimage

  • FFXI= Fun if you want to be social, alot of fun if you want to be social actually. If you want to work with ppl, FFXI has more to offer.

WoW= Fun if you want to be social or not. But not as fun as FFXI if you want to be social.

heh I love to talk with other ppl, help them, be around them. So my vote goes to FFXI.

I am facing the same Dilemma, FFXI or WoW ~sigh~ Having just come out of a MMORPG sobering up period i am ready to lose my social life once again.

Being a fan of the final fantasy series i am drawn to FFXI but i keep hearing that its impossible to solo and that the game's levelling up requires serious game time. Any insight from someone who has dipped their feet into both games would be greatly appreciated.

FFXI - I played it about ~6 month and had much fun looking back I must say that time sinks are extreme and bluntly placed. The graphic style did disturbe me in the long run too. Everything is neatly done though and much love for details but i essentialy it is made for the asian attituide so bring patience and determination and much time to FFXI.

WoW - Well done in a conservative way dont bring to much time atm or u'll blow through it else.

EQ2 - To me it had an unfinished feel to me and was more questbased than EQ . I found my self wasting a lot of online time to hassels like grouping. Personally I found i was wasting too much time on unfun things compared to other mmorpg so while I am still subcribed I wont prolong my subscription, it simply fails to deliver enough fun factor in coorelation to onlime time to me.
Also while it has no comic like style like WoW it is more childish than WoW letting you collect butter flies collections of sea shell collections in an even FFXIesque way and graphic I found. /shrug

Alrite, after reading all the posts, ive come to the conclusions that WoW is good if u just want to play casually, and the interface is much easier to learn than FFXI, but, seeing as i am a fan of the final fantasy series, FFXI is cheaper, and its more for hardcore gamers, im goin with WoW.

    Thanks everyoneimage
