Grouping in LOTRO

Two friends and I have recently started LOTRO and I was wondering how group contetn is in this game.  I've seen plenty of complaining-too much solo content, game is not group friendly, even not enough solo content-the usual contradictions that you see in forums.

It sounds to me the worst part of grouping in LOTRO is actually finding a group, well that is not a problem as I already have the friends I play with, so, throughout the game is there plenty of content for the 3 of us to sink our teeth into or are we going to be stuck stomping through solo content with no challenge.

Any views and opinions are greatly appreciated.

There's a good deal of group content in Lotro, and most of it fun and challenging. For me, the issue with grouping is that it can sometimes take you longer to find a group than to do the actual quest. If you and your friends have all the main roles covered, tank, healer, dps, you shouldn't have too much trouble finding a few extra people for the harder instances, and you can take care of the many small fellowship quests by yourselves.

LOTRO has a good balance of solo and group quests.  Ive found finding groups to be a crap shoot. Most times i find someone LFF when i least expect it. Like anything else, when your looking for it you cant find it :).  But with lots of solo content you have plenty to do while waiting for groups.

Like all "mature" mmorpgs, grouping is a crapshoot.  Games that have been out for over a year or so all tend to have this problem because the veterans already know the quickest route to max level and tend to group as little as possible along the way.

With that in mind, the group content in LOTRO is some of the best group content of any game I have played.  Every level set has a serious group based instance in the zone (generally) and most of them are actually very fun when done at the appropriate level.  So, I think you will find that once you get past about 15ish, group content will start showing up in decent amounts and you and your friends will enjoy that content.

LotrO is putting alot of focus on small fellowship content now so there is alot of quests and instances designed for 3 people so if you are a group of friends I think the grouping will fit you well.

    If WoW = The Beatles
    and WAR = Led Zeppelin
    Then LotrO = Pink Floyd

Yeah, there's quite a bit of group content, and if you already have 3, you should be able to find others easy enough.

At least when I try to get groups for stuff, I get PMs asking if I had anyone else yet. People don't want to committ until there's already a couple of people. But if you already have that, should be easier.

R.I.P. City of Heroes and my 17 characters there

Believe it or not, I never had a problem finding a full group for almost any group content after 10 minutes. Greater Barrows, Dol Dinen, Fornost, Spiders in Trollshaws etc.. people are interested in that. Sure, individual quests here and there might be a bit harder to get people for it, but name a game where it's not.

    REALITY CHECK

In Lotro finding fellowships is quite easy and such actions are motivated by many factors. The developers are keeping the main part of the game, that is questing, intact and, unlike Blizzard, do not nerf lower level content just because they would want players to quickly reach the endgame content as soon as possible to see the latest design of their new fancy raids. I am quite surprised to see so many people in low level areas willing to do all group quests and doing stuff together. As a newcomer I am pleased to see a two year-old MMO having lots of players spread out everywhere, doing content as it was intended.

And yes, the rewards are substantial if you do fellowship-based stuff. Just take a look at what riches Great Barrows has to offer.

Guess you havnt done 1.11 in the barrows lately. Its considerably nerfed. Hopefully, like WOW, they wont get carried away with it.

Yeah this is true lotro is well known for its grouping content tbh and like trance said if you already got 3 people in your group at all times you will have a much easier time getting more people to join you.
