two days into the game and my account gets ban what the hell is up with that
Did you sign up for multiple trial accounts?
SE limits each user to a single trial, regardless of whether you use a different email address or not to sign up. They highly frown on users trying to create multiple trial accounts, due to RMT and they're heavy handed stance on it.
They ban users who create multiple trial accounts or try to use a proxy to do so in a sneaky fashion, etc.... SE has the best security of any mmorpg on the market today. They know when you do something you shouldn't and they punish accordingly and without hesitation.
Dont waste your time, and your life with Final Fantasy, I played it untill level 60's, and have mostly level 30's on all of my other characters, I can tell you that now, Final Fantasy is pretty much ruined, as I resubscribed last month for a test drive, All my chars were still there, But The lack of people, and party waiting time just aint worthit. Wait for Aion.
Not quite sure what to think anymore. Just finished another chat with the support and it's not making sense.
It started out when I applied for a code on my main email address. It never arrived, so a couple of days later I went back, put in the same address, I got the option to resend the code. I did that, and it still never showed up (yes, I was checking the spam folder too).
So I contact the support, explain to them what's happening, they suggest to try a different email address as my provider may be blocking emails from them. Seemed unusual as they say not to use more than one email address to get several trial codes, but shrugged it off as they said it should be ok as I didn't use the code sent to my main address.
Gave it a try, it got sent straight away to my alternative email. Used the code, installed, updated, played. Came back, banned.
Back to the support online, what do they tell me? "Don't use multiple email addresses to obtain multiple trial codes." "But your support told me to because it wouldn't send to my other address." Your session has ended. You may now close this window.

That's weird it may have been the server you played on because I dont ever seem to have a problem getting some sort of a party going. Making parties is the way to go though then no sitting around (well if your server is populated enough of course lol) With lvl sync it has become much easier to get parties started because there is really no level restriction. I think FFXI is doing good for a 7 year old game the subs normally hold around 500k which is more than newer games like WAR who is around 300k. It is def starting to cater to a more casual crowd to get new people into the game. Although FFXI will never be a WoW casual game I find it to have a good mixture of hardcore and more casual elements for me anyhow but to each their own. Just stinks when you hear of people being banned who have been in the game for 10 minutes. Hard to get people interested if they can't get a good feel, that is a sure way to lose a potential subscriber for certain. Sorry you guys had such a bad time with the game. Sometimes I wonder why SE does the things they do. Most of it is due to precautions they have implemented to stop RMT from the game. Sometimes those cause more trouble then its worth though. If you ever decide to give it another go I'm on Ramuh name is Illythia if I can help in anyway. <--- If you can get into the game LOL.

Sigh. I give up.
I don't think anyone would blame you. Thats SE double edged sword unfortunately.

It does suck, but that is something in place so people do not use multiple free trials for illicid activites. Mostly they don't want the RMTs to infect the game with free trials. The only way to really fix it is to have the free trials have limited contact with the game like they do with WoW. Unfortunatly this defeats the purpose of FFXI with all that communial interaction.
Honestly I would just buy the game if i were you. It is what? $20-$30 for all the expansions and you get 30 days free to try it out. You pay $20 and if you hate it you hate it and don't play it again. If $20 breaks you I wouldn't play subscription based MMOs.
I understand it's to stop the RMT hassle and all that now.
I did try to get in touch with the support again since that post (can't give up that easily!) and they were in fact a lot more polite and helpful this time. They explained why it was banned and that it was unfortunate I got "caught in the web".
It was suggested that I wait 24 hours and then register for another code and everything should be fine.
Hopefully it will work this time, I hope none of this puts off any other newcomers.
Yeah this game is huge been playing for about 4 years since the launch in 03 took a few years off for personal reasons and i have yet to see every place in the game. But it is worth the time you meet a lot of nice people in game you actually work hard getting the stuff you want. All in all i do get bored sometimes take a few days off here and there maybe a week or two but just can't leave the game for good. I find the game to be more enjoyable then all the other MMO's out there right now and i have tried pretty much all of them except the cash shop ones because they are just too much money.

With ~500k people subscribed and having recently broken the 2 million active character mark, there are still plenty of people playing FFXI.
The game is fine. They're still supporting it, still adding new content, still holding events, etc. etc.
With the ability to have smaller groups, campaign battles that you don't need a party to partake in, fields of valor and level-sync'ing, parties and leveling overall is probably easier to find now than they've ever been.
Sorry your experience coming back wasn't that great, but it's certainly not indicative of how the game is doing overall.

the game is really fun, and its based on getting groups and...like a job, sometimes u get a jerk on ur team that ruisn everything. But i like that, other MMO games are based on more solo and not much team stuff. unfortunately i lost my job and had to leave my summoner to collect dust XD its 69. and like someone already said, people playing for years still havent seen every area in the game. =D try that on for size
I can't understand why its so hard for people to READ and UNDERSTAND what they read.

Well, to reply to you we need more info.
What occured to get you the ban?
Square/Enix always sends out some kind of notice for why they do what they did.

Either way, you definitely did something wrong.
well maybe because i tried to get my trial key through yahoo (not to metion i tried to resend but still didnt get it) so i went to hotmail
I just got this aswell. I have no idea what may have happened to warrant a ban, I've barely played it for 10 minutes since I got the trial.
Frustrating. I definitely won't be subscribing now.

If more people had your attitude, we'd be a lot better off.

FFXI Character: Satimasu
FFXI Server: Valefor
FFXIV Character: Tamorae Fonteil
Almost a week in with no problems whatsoever this time.
It was fun, but it feels like a really big game though, frequently puzzled and lost!
(edited for typo)
That's because it is.
