This game gets better and better with each reveal. This game is gonna pwn the rest of the industry and will truly be the next-gen MMO boys and girls. Lucas Arts and BioWare are making history again. Mark my words, this game will be the one to beat when it comes out.
You drew that conclusion just from a class reveal? lol chill out.
I'd have to agree with him though. I think the top upcoming MMOs are going to be Aion, Guild Wars 2, and this game. These games will be WoW's main competitors I believe.
LOL. Here's this statement, made by someone, on this very day, last year ....
I'd have to agree with him though. I think the top upcoming MMOs are going to be AoC, WAR, and this game. These games will be WoW's main competitors I believe.
Same shit, different year.
Guild Wars does fairly well against WoW, with 7 million players, Aion I'm hearing good things about and it's been years since I've heard anything good about any game from some of the people I'm hearing it from. And Star Wars? C'mon, what the fuck is Warcarft? Even someone living in the Amazon Jungle knows what Star Wars is, and the fanbase is much larger than Blizzard could ever dream of. And if they can actually capture them this time unlike SWG ever did, well it could be huge.

No from last October's announcement of the game and all the info til now, plus their past partnership. So you chill out, lol. Know the facts before you post.
When we get back from where we are going, we will return to where we were. I know people there!
I agree whole-heartedly. B/c you used ^ this term. There is a ginormous amount of potential. My point is that people are claiming, w/ the little information that has been released that the game IS (like, definitively) going to be huge. It reminds me of the same type of comments that were being slathered all over forums just before AoC's launch. It just drives me crazy that people can throw so much faith into something they know so little about, and further have NEVER played a millisecond of. If a professional football team that was very good at running the ball, changed their logo and said they had this insane plan for a throwing game that would revolutionize the sport, but released very little info on it, how can you claim they'll "win the the Super bowl"? B/c they have some fancy artwork and told you so? The outcome remains to be seen. I certainly hope the game is great, but from what we know so far, anyone that claims this WILL (definitively) be the next huge success, or further compares it to WoW is, imo, a total and complete dipshit mouth breather.
Well, I have faith in the developers, myself. I mean, it's BioWare, the company that pretty much single-handedly ressurected the Star Wars franchise from its stagnating descent into mediocrity (Masters of Teräs Käsi, anyone?). There hasn't really been a single BioWare title that has disappointed me yet, at least to the point where I found no enjoyment in it at all, which is good enough for me.
BioWare has the game down pat. But, we'll have to see if they can handle the world of the internet, outside of simple multiplayer servers. If they can handle the responsibilities of making an MMO, such as all the trappings of a large subscriber base and any difficulties inherent in any MMO, then I think they'll be fine.
I think the main thing they have to shoot for is a strong launch. Delay the game for as long as you want, as long as when the game finally comes out, it's primed and ready for most things thrown at it.
Delays are temporary, but mediocrity lasts forever.
You people are all high on something to think this game is going to be any good. All I see so far is a fancy FPS, they have brought nothing out that even remotely keeps people playing MMO's so far.
True we have to wait and see, all the good features can be hiding, but then again that would serve no useful purpose.
This game is following a familiar pattern, everyone jumps on the bandwagon and then the game actually comes out and everyone sees how lacking it is. This game has mediocre written all over it.
"and nearly impenetrable armor designed by the military’s top engineers"
ummm so they lost ALL that tech when the Empire took over, since ST armor was pure garbage :P
Grouping in Old school mmo's: meeting someone at the bar and chatting, getting to know them before jumping into bed. Current mmo's grouping: tinder. swipe, hookup, hope you don't get herpes, never see them again.

The trooper class looks pretty good, it kind of reminds me of Halo.
This is probably the only MMO I am looking forward to, well besides Guild Wars 2 but there has been no information about that game out in over a year. I have a feeling that we won't hear about gameplay for SW:TOR until they reveal all the classes but I can be patient (I guess lol). I really hope they have space travel right out of the gate.

umm doubt it. Its going to be WoW with star wars skins. When this game was announced the developers said that they are going for tried and tested formula not for a revolution.....

This is always a point people bring up, and I think Bioware is awesome in what hty've done so far. But....
A) as you state an MMO is worlds away from a single player RPG or platform game
and more importantly...
they're housed under Electronic Arts now. King of the meddlers, and the Fuck-things-up-ers.
Bioware is brilliant. They are being very cautious about releasing any information about gameplay before it's set in concrete. This way, the rabid fanbois and rabid haters have absolutely no ammunition for their vile attacks on each other or the company or the game. No let downs for which to be blamed, whether it's due them or not.
It's also important not to give away too many details that the competition can copy and possibly implement before Bioware can release their game.
Considering the behavior of many of the SWTOR posters on official and non-official forums, especially the SWG freaks, I can understand and sympathize with Bioware's extreme reluctance to give out too much information at this early stage of development.
Word of mouth advertising, especially negative, whether it's deserved or not can have a huge impact on a game's early success.
With PvE raiding, it has never been a question of being "good enough". I play games to have fun, not to be a simpering toady sitting through hour after hour of mind numbing boredom and fawning over a guild master in the hopes that he will condescend to reward me with shiny bits of loot. But in games where those people get the highest progression, anyone who doesn't do that will just be a moving target for them and I'll be damned if I'm going to pay money for the privilege. - Neanderthal

Progression, combat, space flight or not, gear, UI, levels vs skill, PVP, player economy, crafting. Less fluff please. /snooze … wake me when they’re done hyping to reactionary types, and start to talk about something important.
You click a thread that states it is a class reveal in the title yourself so you obviously felt it was important enough to chime in.
I didn’t even read the article. I’m just tired of the sensationalizing of the game. Like it’s some bloody shock that there’s a storm trooper (equivalent) in the game. The graphics and/or artwork do not justify an “awesome game”.
We don’t know piss about the game yet.
I bet your one of those guys that demands the MMO company give information by the truck full, the company does it, they end up not being able to deliver, and then you piss and moan because "They lied and deceived you"
shut up and let them run their own company. The info will come when it comes. They have every right to hype their game to get as much money as possible. They'd be idiots if they didn't try to get as much profit as possible.
a business is a business is a business. Just because it happens to make MMOs doesn't alter that fact.

You're a little short bus rider, huh? I'm not belittling Bioware's release of info. While, thus far I'm dissappointed (w/ factions, and faction specific classes), my issue is MORE with the COMMUNITY. To many people are ready to crown the game king and they don't know dick. They claim it's going to be awesome. Based on what exactly? A track record for great console/PC games? An IP? Some screen shots? People are fucking idiots.
Oh, and try reading what my post refers to before frothing at the mouth b/c I'm not running around behind every TOR info leak w/ a chubby like you, Squirt.
So, until they release some actual information regarding my intial post, I'll let short sighted, hyperactive, easily impressionable, sniviling mots go ga-ga about something they know nothing about. Have fun w/ that, Cap.

Just to clarify, I am of a wait-and-see approach to this game as well. At least Blizzard had Battle.net to mess around with, unlike Bioware. Yep...I'm jaded. What MMO fan isn't? With all that said...sure, I want this game to be great, but with MMO's track records...I'm afraid it's guilty until proven innocent.

Am I the only one bothered by the idea that a storm trooper can somehow be a match for a Sith Lord in the minds of the Developers? I know, I know ... balance... but talk about trampling on your own fluff.

General Grievous was a warrior turned cyborg that was merely trained by a Sith Lord, but he was able to best several Jedi Knights, so you never know.
