I never doubted that it would have a sub fee, it's a main stream MMO.  The question i have is how much will the sub be?

  • catsaadcatsaad Member Posts: 176

if you see the price on the link that i have posted .u will have an idea ,how much it is. u can also pre order it from that site .it has free shipping to most asian countries .so its first choice for me:D

I'd assume $14.99 USD per month for subscription as per most mainstream MMO's.

I didn't think there was any doubt that there would be a fee for this game.  Its a normal MMO.

i am also anticipating the price to be $15 . the only reason i am thinking of gamercard to be a little over price is the reason that they will be released by atari .and of course atari would get some share out of gamercards and box version!!!

You can tell if a game is going to have sub fee's or not just by the title or looking at a screenshot imo :P

    Champions Online Checking Out Micro-Transactions

    May 08, 2009 at 7:23 AM - Andrew Burnes - 8 Comments

As if paying monthly for a MMOG wasn't enough, Cryptic's Champions Online may also introduce micro-transactions:

We noticed that the game's menu features an option called "Champions Store". When selected, this brings up an error message mentioning the word "microtransactions".

We contacted Cryptic for comment. "As you may have noticed in the recent play test for Champions Online, we are currently testing functionality for in-game transactions," the developer replied in a statement.

"Virtual asset sales are a necessary component of the greater Cryptic platform since we plan on working on a number of different titles using our technology platform. At present we do not have any finalised plans for how and if these will be implemented in future releases."

Chief creative officer Jack Emmert has previously made his dislike of microtransactions a matter of public record, telling a GDC panel last year that "they make me want to die". But it now seems that the developer is open to supplementing subscriptions with revenue from item sales - as Sony Online Entertainment has done with EverQuest - or perhaps employing them in less subscription-friendly markets like Asia.

not a troll post at all. There was never a doubt this was gonna be a subscription game. Its only the loonies that think good games are going to come out without a monthly fee.

Thanks goodness! Keeps away all the freeloaders and trash people.

Never saw a worse hive of scum than on the European Guild Wars servers. All was porn talk! Terrible experience. Most anti social folks I ever met.

I want 30 Dollar a month fee and servers for people above 25 years only!

Erm, Darkfall is subscription based, look how the community turned out to be. It's a myth that when you have an MMORPG with subscriptions and with a hardcore ruleset, then that will keep the a-holes away.

I had concluded a while back that the game would be subsciption based.  After all, CoH/V was.  Anyway, I am kinda looking forward to this game, but the more I look at different screenshots and videoes, I find myself not impressed by the look of the world they created.  Hopefully, closer to launch, they will release a bit more, but right now, not impressed....

Wow, someone started a thread to declare that Champions will have a subscription?

Whats next? A thread declaring that water is wet? I always thought it was obvious Champions would be subscription based.

maybe some people had the idea that being fully instanced, it would be free like guild wars.  I didn't personally... but i do think MMO developers need to get away from the strict 14.99 pricing policy.  Some games just aren't worth it.  Games like Auto Assault or Tabula Rasa might have stood a chance at 5.99 a month.

If there is anything the F2P community has taught us, its that quality games always include a subscription. And I never doubted that this would be a quality game.

Dont be so quick to insult the OP for just informing the public on an issue they thought needed to be posted regardless of what you all thought about the subscription fee or not.

Bill Roper did not say if there was going to be a subscription or not, all he said was, whatever they plan to do about pricing would be competitive with other MMOs. Which could mean a subscription or it could not mean a subscription.

I guess the saying is true "If you dont have something nice to say, dont say anything at all"

I'm just curios as to wether you had a reason to think it would not be subscription based or not I had not heard anything but usually assume most AAA titles will follow a subscription model as long as it is the industry standard.

but yeah, to call this game Fantastic is like calling Twilight the Godfather of vampire movies....
