Girl wanting to play EQ

Sonya21_azSonya21_az Member Posts: 3

Hi, one of my friends has kinda decided for me that i need to try and play EQ... Ive played UO for 4 years, and its gotten alot worse.. I was wondering if anyone can give me an unused buddy code they dont want so I can at least try it out, my friend bought Omens of War, which has a buddy code, but I decided too late that I wanted to try so she gave it to our other friend.. Thanks in advance anyone who would want to help a girl out. :)

Hmmm... as far as I know EQ is pretty much over and done with, with any newbies being twinked out re-rolls of uber players that have been there for years. Basically, this game is in its twilight age and I really would recommend starting up a character at this point. If EQ is what you have your heart set on, you might want to consider EQ2 instead which has just begun so you'll have plenty of other new people to play with along with that brand-new world feeling, you know?

If that doesn't float your boat, come join us in WoW, the OB just wrapped up and I had a great time!

I'm looking for some friends that I lost contact with over the years...

    EQ: Horlain (Firiona Vie)
    DAOC: Kaizur (Guinevere)

That is an awsome idea, i actually did want to start with Everquest 2 but i know alot of local friends who play on the same server in EQ and they said they would "hook me up" if I decided to play, and it is kinda nice knowing local people to play with when you start a new game...
I dont really know anyone who plays Eq2 or world of warcraft or that deafinately would be what i would be going for, know what i mean?

I do have to agree with you that it's really nice to have RL friends in-game to hang out with. Who knows, you might really enjoy EQ like that, I'm sure you'd get hooked up with all kinds of awesome gear and stuff. =) The only reason why I'm knocking this idea is because I actually left EQ for a while then decided to try it out again about 9 months ago. My friends were, for the most part, all still there and they helped PL me up to their level quite quickly.

However, whenever any of my friends weren't on, it was a really dull experience as I'd breezed past most of the content and most of the people playing had already established their own cliques and whatnot. I don't know, maybe I'm just not easily amused enough. I got bored of it within the month and said my goodbyes to everyone for good.

There are a lot of nice EQ2 people on these boards that I'm sure would love to befriend you and help you get situated with some friends and all that good stuff in that game. As far as WoW goes, I'd be more than happy to have you come join my friends and I. We're a pretty small group, although we're vets and possess mad skillz =P After you try EQ, feel free to drop me an e-mail here on this site and you can come meet up with us, maybe we can even convince a few of your friends to come over to the Dark Side =P

I play Everquest. I've been in the WoW beta since phase 3. The majority of my EQ guild is in EQ2 beta (I turned down the offer). From what I've seen of WoW, it's a great game, lots of fun. It just doesn't have anything to hold my attention. It's just not a long term game. EQ2? I haven't yet heard or seen anything in EQ2 that I don't already have and enjoy in Everquest, so why should I give up my 5 years of virtual achievement and start over? Lots of folks are leaving EQ for other games, I expect for the next 3 or 4 weeks, things should actually be pretty sweet around the hot exp zones (low number of players) but then, that to shall end as new players, or veteran players return, to fill that void. Everquest might be in it's twilight, but it's not in the grave yet, and has a long way to go.

All you can do is play the game that you enjoy the most and/or has friends present. No matter what the game.

As for buddy codes... I bought Omens of War and didn't see anything like that. I also went ahead purchased the EQ Gold (or is it Platinum) version which contained all of the EQ expansions, except OoW for $30.00

My dog barks some. Mentally you picture my dog, but I have not told you the type of dog which I have. Perhaps you even picture Toto, from "The Wizard of Oz." But I warn you, my dog is always with me.

Well after asking around, it sounds that most likely ill start out by plying EQ2 or WoW.. Can some people possibly give me a heads up about the types of games these are?

And also I am wondering how close to EQ EQ2 is.. just the basic setup, I know that it is alot more pretty, but is WoW going to be as pretty as EQ2?? Just wonderin..

All new players are better off starting off in EQ2.

BUT... EQ is still worth trying out just to experience a very classic game. Kind of like checking out and driving a 1957 Chevy just to experience what a classic car is like. Even though a modern 2004 Chevy is better.

IMHO you should post asking for the names of the most newest EQ servers, then start your character on the newest servers. You will find more newer players, more lower level players. And more activity in the lower level zones.

On the older servers many low level zones are empty, or near empty since the high level players are in the uber-level zones. Plus most characters are uber-twinked so are less likely to want to meet, or even need, a new player.
