So soon in the launch and we already have this and things like speedhacks.....Blizzard obsolutly does nothing about hackers in all there games, WOW will be no different *sigh*.. I thought that mabye I could play a good month of 2 before the bots started to pop up atleast.. Guess not
P.S I wish I could go back in time and kill the person that thought Ebay up.

All mmorpg get hacked... all games that have ever been made have been hacked....
its just that blizzard is known for being slack about it
That is no a speedhack they're offering, but a bot. Its no surprise really that there's a bot out there already when you take into account that Blizzard has allowed highly customizable user interfaces to function within the game. This more or less makes sure that there will be a working bot, or automated controller, as long as Blizzard chooses to allow third-party software to function with the client. Once you think about it, there are countless programs which have been hacked, even though the program itself does not support any third-party software or plugins. This bot of theirs isn't really a hack, because it most likely does not do anything else besides executing scripted events within the allowed framework of a custom UI.
Currently, many of the more popular "legit" custom UIs feature things like automated looting and other scripted events, which should be disallowed, if one is to believe the TOS set by Blizzard. I find it a bit strange how Blizzard still allows and supports these programs, even after a developer of one of the more well known UIs, Cosmos, decided to take a personal argument between himself and an other beta tester into the program by adding slanderous titles under the unsuspecting player's name that were visible to all users of the UI. In my opinion WoW will never be bot free until custom UIs are disallowed.
Hacks by large I'm not very familiar with, except the most simple kind, like the speed hack you mentioned. If the speed hack is still working, I seriously do not a see a valid reason why. To my understanding, all the speed hack does is that it allows you to send packets to the server as fast as you want, making you able to, for example, cast spells at a highly accelerated rate. This is very simple to fix, if the hack is indeed purely client side. Hacks I do not see as a big threat to WoW, we've seen them in nearly all other MMORPGs, once they're found it is easy to weed them out. Things such as the afore mentioned bot and possible future dupe/server code exploits are the real threat to WoW's community and in-game economy from where I'm looking at things. Anyone with enough knowledge to install WoW will be able to run these programs(Thus creating a much larger problem.), instead of the relatively few C++ savvy "elite" who develop hacks.
I must make correction this so called, "speed hack" is not a hack it's an exploit. They use no program to do it, I have the method, and I don't use it.
It is a fairly simple method it has easy steps to take and basically it's a bug which allows you to walk as fast as a flying transport Gryphon / Wind rider. When done properly you will run as fast as that air transporation for the time you remain online.
It is no hack, I am quite confident it will be fixed all in a matter of time, don't worry guys they don't have any programs out for this game that alter it's performance yet.
Cosmos is the only working program for WoW and that doesn't alter the game it's just a utility.
Hope that clears things up!
Speed hacking is easy enough in any MMORPG.. the question is whether or not people that do the hacking get punished quickly enough. It is a hack.. you find the memory offset controlling speed, and change the value.
Really the only game I can see where hacking memory offsets will probably never be much of a problem is Guild Wars. From what I understand that game essentially updates 10 times (minimum)... changing offsets, and the changes stream to you while you play with no server downtime for the patching.
Well like I said earlier, the speed hack used in WoW is the same used in DAoC. Mythic has found a way to find the users of Speed Hack and ban them automatically and Blizzard is trying to get rights to use Mythic's state of the art hack detectors. As wacky as it sounds, it is logical. Why should Mythic keep anti-hacking programs to itself? As for macros...ah macro bots. They are how I hit 850 in alchemy in DAoC in one week. I am not ashamed. Everyone was doing it at the time I played DAoC [a year ago] so it was a common thing to fire up the macro bot to do some crafting while you mowed the lawn. The hacks and macroing in a game as big as WoW will be grounded soon. Don't sweat it.

I think you misunderstood me there, mate. My criticism wasn't directed at Cosmos the UI, but at the allowance of custom UIs. Depending on how you configure your Cosmos, you can go far beyond using it as a mere tool. Admit it or not, there is a huge advantage to be gained from using Cosmos, this is fine, however. What else is a custom UI supposed to provide than an upgrade to the standard UI? Now, I know how you use it is up to the user, and while there is nothing wrong with Cosmos itself as a UI, I do see a fundamental problem in Blizzard allowing custom UIs to be used.
This goes back to my bot argument. With the freedoms a UI builder is given it is relatively easy to build a bot that is painless to operate by a computer novice and fully functional on the official servers. The client, or server for that matter, has no way of detecting whether the commands given to it or packets sent to it originate from a human hand or from a scripted sequence. This is why I think Blizzard should either approve each build of every custom UI and "lock out" unapproved UIs from the client, or disallow custom UIs as a whole.

fast or slow on the ebay comment? i choose slow
and u realize what happens on ebay isnt at blizzards control? its just like with people selling gold on ebay, blizzard cant do a damn thing about it. yeah it sux cuz for those of us who work for our items can go on ebay only to c those exact items for $5.
BUT also understand the game has been out for only what 3 days? blizzards not perfect i know that from experience but they always cought a good amount of hackers in War3. (i didnt say diablo2 because the hacks in D2 cant b tracked, trust me on that one). give it some time its a brand new game, i doubt WoW will end up like SWG did. blizzards not like SoE they actually do care what happens to there games, almost like moral values...SoE just wants money, cancled accts or no, they still made something off of ya.
Im quoting that guy on who is selling his guide on Ebay "Unlike the 2 page unformatted text you get with those cheap guides which basically give you a broken link to download some program that does not even work".
Let me bring your attention to "...give you a broken link to download some program that does not even work". First off, I think "does not even work" means the program, because a broken link already means that that link does not work. So, if you cant download the program, how does it NOT work??? I wouldnt panic about posts like that one, it is obvious a scam. Just like all those "earn 100pp per hour in EQ" guides - some of them basically wrote you to farm stuff , just what we alredy did in EQ.
Neverthless, hacking is possible ( where it isnt? ) and I am sure that Blizzard will make everything in their powers to prevent it. Hacking happens all the time and I am sure it will happen in WoW too. As long as it is contained and does not spread around.
One question though. Does cosmo UI show player name even if that player is stealthed?

Ok guys, if anyone has played wow he should know that botting is pretty stupid.
At least, more stupid than in the majority of games. If you create a bot in wow,
you need to put it in a place where he can kill mobs with low probabilities of
geting in danger. What that means is that you need low level mobs, not even close
to your level, because zones in wow have areas with lots of mobs together.
With that in mind, a bot would get very few exp from monsters, and even a quick
player who sees the bot can take advantage of the situation, tapping the mob quickly
with instant spells or ranged weapons and level fast thanks to the bot ^^.
For the loot part, it can get trickier, but macros in-game aren't capable of
looting, so you'll need to rely in 3rd party programs. The only good loot is made
in instances, and you cannot truly farm them, so bots are quite screwed(of course
you can make some money or get some green(note <-- green (wow...)) items, but
nothing that will desestabilize the economy so far. And yeah, there'll always be ppl
who buy gold and stuff from ebay, but they won't become "leet" from day to day".
And finally, concerning the speedhack issue, I won't be really worried, since most
games have ways to detect and ban ppl who use them, and sometimes even the
effects are only visible for the user(you see stuff that doesn't happen), but if the majority
of MMORPG(paying MMORPGs I mean) have ways to detect and ban this people,
do you really think that blizzard, one of the biggest companies out there, won't
be able to handle this? either you're delusional or ignorant (or a eq2 diehard fan (notice
I didn't use fanboi? I really hate that word, it's too much of a cliche for me)).
Well that are my opinions, hope it clears your mind up of some crazy ideas
of the wannabe-rumorers out there (believe me, there are more than you think,
and there's also the ppl who gets confused too much and induce the others
to confusion).
I find it comical how all of you think you know so much about hacking games...
Im going to keep this short and sweet Several speedhacks do work for WOW(ya see people there are all types some are very difficult to detect *cough* MB) and the botting while it is limited it does work as well....
One last thing, as a person that has tried Blizzard games and Hacked back when I was young and stupid.. I know Blizzards track record on hackers, its not very good and there "24/7" CSR support for this game is a joke to who ever made that comment.
Any time someone is able to spam and I quote "I ****** all over this (nword) Bit** face last night and she liked it" and then have 12 people from my guild alone file a ticket and its still gone unanswered 2 days later thats not Customer support....Maybe it will get better as the launch smoothes out... Or maybe it wont... Only time will tell, HOPEFULLY Blizzard bans these people right away with out warning, but going by there track record they wont.

@ Tinybina; What makes you certain that Blizzard did noty take steps to deal with the guy that spoke the uggly words? If alot of people sent in an abuse-report they might choose to deal with teh culprit without replying, or simply choose to only reply to the first report.
I sure hope that's the case.

IMO ppl using bots, macros and hacks are just big loosers. Im sure the problem is them beeing RL loosers as well, and need to brag to their very few friends on how cool they are playing.
IMO ofc.
My take on bots and hacks, if you feel the need to use them you proberbly need to pick up a copy of Dora the Explorer for the PS2 or Winnie the Pooh Preschool game for the PS2, I think there are other games easyer then WoW, I am just useing these as examples becuase my 4 y/o plays them....but then again she has a character in WoW as well.

@ Jimmy; You say you reported those incidents, how many others did? That's the point I was trying to make. If enough people report on a single event, the GM's are unlikely to every single one. They probably just message the first reporting party of any 1 missbehaviour

LAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAMEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEee

You know, you should never join those kind of sites. They are all crap anyways.
All they tell you is what 3rd party software to use to "Cheat" in the MMORPG.
Ya know, crap software that auto clicks or moves the mouse for you. Their sites are all false advertisements too! They claim all their techniques are LEGAL and won't get you banned... except if you read any Liscence Agreement for any MMORPG, it always says the use of a 3rd party company software to play the game for you is illegal and will get you banned.
Well, there is one good thing for sites like this. Since they have a forum community that is dedicated to cheating and exploits. Whenever an exploit is discovered, they are the first people to know since the moderators allow threads like that, unlike public forums like this which would probably delete them at first sight.
Except through experience, whoever uses an exploit to their own advantage usually gets caught and banned from the MMORPG.
And besides, what's the point of cheating in a MMORPG anyways? You cheat, you become UBER very quickly, 1 month later you're bored cause you have nothing to do cause you did everything possible in 1 months time.

Stealth - Ambush - Hemorrhage - Sinister Strike x2 - Cold Blood - Eviscerate - Vanish - Preparation - Cold Blood - Ambush - ... you're dead! :P
My guild mates have gotten excellent service. One died in the ocean when he was swimming as a wisp and couldnt' retrieve his corpse then or even revite at the spirit healer. Also one after dying appeared in some random place that he couldn't get out of. These are just examples of the things that were delt with almost immediately.
Also I think that bots really aren't going to help anyone get anywhere in the game. I mean seriously how much can you do with one?
