new Lineage

Description, and the fact that it's made by an Asian company, make it awfuly close to a new Lineag clone.

Thoughts?

Wow.... this thread is begging to become a troll thread. It might help you to read more than "it's made by the same people that did Lineage2".

From those that have played it, aside from SOME simularities in the art direction, it isn't close to being a Lineage "Asian" game, whatever that means. I am guessing you are refering to grinding, bott filled messes. Aion is neither of those things, according to previous threads by western people playing the asian releases.

Once upon a time, at a gamestop not too far away from where we are now, there was a copy of Lineage II sitting on the shelf all alone. Buyers came, and went, yet he still sat alone on the shelf. He wondered, every time someone bought a copy of WoW over him, why no one loved him. He wondered what he did wrong that WoW did so right.

One day, a day much like any othe day, a woman came in to buy a copy of WoW for her son. That little copy on Lineage II let his curiosity get the best of him. He dove off the shelf into her purse. Once she laid her purse down in the car he quickly scurried into the back seat to avoid detection. As they drove he sat and talked to the copy of WoW. He asked him many questions. He learned a lot that day, about why people loved WoW, and, most importantly, why no one seemed to love him. He learned that his animations weren't smooth enough, his user interface wasn't friendly enough for beginners. He learned that his character creation was weak, even compared with the weakest of games. Most importantly though, he learned that he was a grind- fest. "Being a grind fest", WoW had told him, "Was ok in Korea and other parts of Asia, but not here in America. That's why no one loves you".

Lineage II was heart-broken. He thought long and hard on the way to the womans house about what he needed to do. He thought first about going to Korea, but he was a localized version and most Koreans wouldn't be able to play him. His thoughts quickly turned to suicide. "If no one loves me", he thought, "Then why am I here?".

Upon reaching the woman’s home he went to leave. Before he could the little copy of WoW told him one last thing. "I used to be a copy of Everquest" he said. As she took her copy of WoW in to her son, Lineage II walked down the street. After walking for almost an hour he came to a bridge. "This is it" he thought. He jumped. He fell for what seemed to be an eternity. What he hit wasn't the rocky waves below though, oh no! He landed on a soaring eagle, flying through the sky. He realized what that little copy of WoW had meant when he said "I used to be a copy of Everquest". He realized then what he needed to do. Taking the reins of the eagle he flew back to his lonely gamestop.

It was then that he changed. It was then that he turned down the suck, and turned up the awesome. It was then that Aion was born.

That's the story of Aion.  Written because I know that's what everyone who says Aion=Linneage thinks.

Stop being so dense it's not Lineage II, the game is very different.

I would have to say it takes some elements from L2,  WOW, and EQ.

Velika: City of Wheels: Among the mortal races, the humans were the only one that never built cities or great empires; a curse laid upon them by their creator, Gidd, forced them to wander as nomads for twenty centuries...

    The abyss feels like DAOC.

To the OP, what kind of rediculous statement is that? Why would NCSoft build a game to compete with it's own mainstream AAA title L2? Lineage 3 is the next AAA title for NCSoft after Aion. Aion is the franchise to compete with WoW, and it does a very good job of it.

Your story made my day, I giggled uncontrollably when the poor L2 began questioning the purpose of his existence.

    Thanks for the awesome :)

Thanks for the positive feedback.  I've tried and tried to get people to see that Aion and Lineage aren't the same game, I figured a childrens story might work where logic has failed =)

    Thoughts?

Only thoughts that jump to mind is that you never read an actual describtion of this game.

It's important to note that, though faster than L2 or FFXI, Aion still takes longer to level than WoW, especially after the numerous "speed boosts" WoW has added over the past year.

It's funny, because we always seem to forget that there are a lot of people that actually LIKE the grind of L2.  They're simply much less vocal than we are because they are um... grinding.

    LOL.. nicely done!

Out of every 100 men, 10 should not be there,
80 are nothing but targets, 9 are the real fighters.
Ah, but one, ONE of them is a warrior,
and he will bring the others home.

    Playing the chinese version atm.

26 levels into the game and i think its great so far.  And i have yet to explore Abyss, and pvp (both of which are the main strenght of the game.)

Leveling does seem a bit slow.  But that's where you make most of your friends.

edit - the story was great.!
