Ok so I've tried my hand at EQ2, and while it's got a lot going for it, it got boring rather quickly in my opinion.

So here's my question, a while back I'd asked for info on some decent MMORPG's out there with nice anime or anime-ish graphics, being a fan of the style myself, which just ended up turning into an argument between the "I love anime" and "Anime sucks" crowds. However before it escalated to that, someone mentioned a new game in the works from SquareEnix (the beast that ate the creators of Final Fantasy, Squaresoft) and was wondering if anyone knew anything about this mystery game, or perhaps could give me a URL with some info?

Also, if you dont like anime thats all fine and dandy but rather than post it here, please just start a topic in the "Off-topic Discussion" area.

    Hey Crescendo,

    You have good taste my friend.  Despite what many flamers on these boards might say.  Anyway, the game is called Fantasy Earth and it look quite good so far but it has a ways to go as far as development.  Let's keep our fingers crossed.  Oh, and the link is right here http://www.playonline.com/fe/

    It looked kinda cool, hopefully its not another level grinder like FFXI, the gameplay looks pretty action oriented which would be a good thing in my opinion. The characters eyes are way too big though IMO ::::35::

    its an asian game , of course its going to be a level grind. image dont get me wrong i love anime graphics, but i guess thats what they like to do.

    It looks pretty good if you see the screenshots, pictures and the movie.(too bad that it's in japanese so I can't read what they've written about the game)

    Eheheh.....I like faeries ::::02::, er *cough* I mean, awesome looking game simply awesome!! Unfortunately the looks are about all I can comment on. I'm just a "stupid American" with the Japanese vocabulary of a native 1 year old so I cant read the info on it. Any plans that anyone knows of to bring this one stateside??

    (quick edit: In reference to my original post, they ate Enix, creators of Star Ocean, also. Cant leave them out.)

    Since FFXI was primarily PvE, this looks to be Square's attempt at a PvP game.

    "Although very little is currently known about Fantasy, the basic premise of the game is that you take sides in an ongoing war for world domination between five kings. Also, the game apparently features RTS-style tactics in addition to traditional RPG play. Similar to FFXI, social interaction with other players in the game is part of the title's expected appeal."

    Sounds pretty interesting... as for the last sentence about social interaction, i assume it means that US players will be mixed in with Japanese players with the translator thing again.

    I like the sound of the RTS elements. For all intent and purposes, this could pretty much be like a FF Tactics online.
