Extreme gaming rig

Things has finally gone as planned so next big thing I need is superb gaming rig which would serve mostly for MMO purposes but also for games as GTA4. Price tag is up to 5 000$ which is not big issue for me so don't play with price/quality card suggest only best quality products don't look at price.

To help you I'll post what performance I'm looking from this rig.

CPU: Fast with great overclock posibilities. I'm a lineage 2 player(most of the time) and there CPU speed and overclock gives you noticable increase in FPS. Also if you can post how much I could overclock it(CPU) with reasonable risk.

VGA: suggest best one that market can offer. Also please post about crosfire posibilites and increase in overall performance. I like to play games with out lag in maxed out settings.

RAM: I don't know much about RAM and how it communicates with CPU but I assume faster = better so please explain litle bit about that as well.

HDD: Suggest best HDD in your opinion but have in mind about quality, I don't like when hard goes off with smoke. Also what should I got 2x500 GB or 1x1 TB

Cooling: I would like to have as quite as posible so I suppse liquid is the best one?

Motherboard: ofc what mother board should I use to put everything together.

you really dont need to overclock the new cpus to play mmos. the intel I7 are beastly enough they use ddr3 memory.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819103471 this has great overclocking potential but only uses ddr2 but still pretty fast. you can overclock this to 3.795GHz at 1.5v and memory speeds of 1366MHz at 7-7-7-20 timings.

for graphic card it depends on what motherboard you have. crossfire is for ati and sli is for nvidia if you want ati the new 4890 are amazing. nvidia i would use the gtx 285. I personally like nvidia because they update their drivers constantly, ati however not so much.

ram is also what type of motherboard you have. of course the more ram the better but also theirs difference in mhz. the higher the mhz the better as well. you just have to look what it can use.

harddrive wise unless you are a extreme gamer you should be fine with anything you feel comfortable as. if you want the fastest you can get i think they go up to 15000 rpm now you wont get the 1TB of data on it but it is really fast.

and the motherboard you can look up depending on if you want nvidia or ati and if you want amd or intel.

Inex, not to sound rude, but this really is not the best place and way to ask this - for a number of reasons.

In general MMORPG's do not have the highest demands on the hardware. You may be better off looking at another site, as has been previously suggested. From the way you posted your questions, I assume you haven't got that much experience building a PC from scratch. If money is no object, I would suggest you go with one of the pre-built high end offerings out there, such as:

Alienware

Falcon Northwest

Dell XPS

I'm pretty confident, that if you spend $5k at one of these vendors you will have a machine that can cope with any MMORPG to be released in the next 2-3 years.

If you really want to build your own PC from parts, visit sites like tomshardware. They have performance charts and reviews for the various PC components. Just pick whatever is at the top of the list.

this is what i have, and i have not found a game that i cant max the settings @ 1920 x 1200 with most games running 60 Frames (Crysis is 50FPS)

Wrong palce to ask this as others have stated, however; everyone has given you great links. Building a rig is not that difficult at all and you could build a killer gaming rig for 2 grand and add killer colling systems, etc. a nice monitor and spend around 3k. If you go and buy an Alienware, Falcon Northwest, etc. (don't get me wrong here killer pre-built rigs) your over paying by the truck load.

My sugesstion first off is to go and build a rig on Alineware or Northwest Falcon or even HP (that came out with a gaming rig last year that is amazing with massive upgrade ability but not very publicized) then go to NewEgg and start pricing out simiair/same parts and see the cost difference to build your own.

for 5 grand you can get the best cpu mobo 8 gigs of ram a few hundred gigs of 15k rpm hard drives a 40+ inch hi def screen as a monitor and a good cooling system. 4 grand would do it im pretty sure, as long as you self assemble, dont bother overclocking the i7, it just gets unstable and nothing can utilize that much horsepower yet programming wise hehe

The rig I had before this one I went to www.abs.com/ and had a good experience with them. It ran 3 three years without a hiccup. Customer service was helpful too. That was 4 years ago, but I can't imagine they are doing anything much different now.

Well you're right, I never build a PC by my self but I've few msn contacts that may help me in construction. Past few years I've been quite bussy with my own life. New job, new appartment, car etc so when finally everything sets in its places so I decided to build some mean rig for upcomming 3-5 years. Looking at game announcments Hight-End Gamers PC today will be still high-end gamer PC 3 years later. Anyway it's not the point and thanks for links, I'll try to look at them.

P.S. I wrote here because it's MMO forum and mainly I use it for MMO's and for feature MMO's I've Tera in mind which will have amazin graphics, ut3 engine and so on... I need powerfull enough to play with a lot of ppl around.

Btw that not to make new thread: L2 uses UT(or UT2 engine) and I read a lot how it's not suited for MMO like l2 where this engine has to support 400 or more ppl in one area. Does UT3 engine solves that problem or everything is bassed on how well game developers will adjust that engine for their game.

Good advice. That'll get you up to speed on what's a good deal and what isn't. And let's be honest, shopping around for parts is half the fun already, he?

One thing I'd like to add is that pre-built rigs usually give you the option of picking a good/long-term warranty plan, which for a system in that price range does make a lot of sense! If you go with parts from newegg, you 'only' have the newegg and then the individual manufacturer's return policy/warranty, which may turn out to be more hassle if something does go wrong down the line!

or buy localy to avoid some of thoses problems. But the Extra price is not worth the Warrenty of pre builts.

Most manufactures offer 5 years on there hardwear, if not life.

EVGA/BFG being the best. If the parts fail send it in. get a new one. go with EVGA the MB/GPU are covered
