I would probly buy WoW too. The only reason I haven't bought it yet is cause I played beta for a long time and got tired out. But I will be buying it soon! ::::18::

I to would recommend World of Warcraft. I tested it and just couldnt stop playing. It mite be a bit simplistic but I cant beat the Rp community and the oppurtunities to rp in it.

Read up on EQII as well. They are both great games so you should choose which one you want by which you think sounds the coolest, and not listen to biased reviews in both boards.

;) Forget WoW. Forget EQ2. If you want to spend your money wisely.. check out and perhaps buy DAoC the Platinum edition ($19.99), then buy DAoC: Catacombs coming out Dec 7th. ($29.95) You don't have to play PvP, but the PvP in the realm wars in DAoC is simply awesome and sooo much fun. The dungeons in DAoC are amazing, and now they are actually putting in WELL DESIGNED instancing in Catacombs meaning that a group can enter a quest that is all their own where noone else can enter. Inside the instaced stage, the mobs do not respawn, so if the leader of the group invites other friends they can simply join and just follow the path of dead mobs to his buddies in action. The world is absolutely huge in DAoC.. you are totally free to do whatever you choose. You can fight in fields as far as the eye can see, fight in deep mountain forests, in desert lands, in snow covered mountains, go under water and fight mobs deep under the seas, and now in Catacombs you can fight in a huge maze of tunnels under the planets surface. Total PvP chaos fun can also be had besides just the battlegrounds if you play on Mordred, the all PvP server where you are only safe inside the 3 huge cities. EQ2 and WoW may offer more flair and/or prettier graphics, but content wise, they simply cannot compete with what Mythic entertainment offers in DAoC. And hell yes, I am a DAoC fanboy... after giving both WoW and EQ2 an honest chance and being bigtime disappointed. DAoC is still the best game out there right now, and until something beats it... I'm a DAoC fanboy baby!! ;)

I have a few things I think are wrong or misleading, but these do not mean a bash on DAoC. Are you sure you can invite people later on into an instanced zone? I tihnk you may hvae that wrong, because generally only people in the goup when they eneter an instance are allowed in, ive never heard of being able to invite other people into an instance. If DAoC just implemented that though, then kudos.

Secondly, I found DAoC to be qutie small, It only took me about half an hour to run accross about 3/4 of Albion... When you can only play on one realms side, that isnt all that big. Also (I only played original and SI) the islands it added weren't much bigger. Also the main cities of each realm, while they are big, are not very well laid out. I personally would reccomend WoW over DAoC, but DAoC is still a great game, and one of my favorite MMORPGS (aside from UO and EVE). I havent played EQ2, but I think it would be good as well. One thing DAoC does have going for it tohugh it RvR.

image   Yeppers, according to the recent  DAoC: Tour of Mythic article... the following is pasted from that article.  Also the article is very interesting and shows that the new Catacombs is truly a great expansion to an already great game...

COPIED AND PASTED FROM RECENT DAoC ARTICLE ON THE UPCOMING CATACOMBS RELEASE:

"Players have the option to invite others from different zones into their group. This allows a group of friends in an instanced zone the opportunity to bring in others after the initial entry. If a team is halfway through an instanced wing and another player wants to join, the team members can add him to the group and he will zone into their instance rather than his own discrete environment. The monsters in an instanced area do not respawn, so the joining player can merely follow the cleared path and meet his comrades. Death in an instanced area will place the player's tombstone at the entrance to the area, so returning and praying to mitigate experience loss should not be a problem."

Guild wars releases around March. You have plenty of time to decide.

Yeah. Sure. No monthly fee. Guild Wars. Got it.

sure theres no monthly fees, but u do know wut theyre going to do instead rite? tons and tons of expansion packs that are just like monthly fees (to me anyways)  to me, i think its just a waste.  i mean say u DONT buy an expansion pack.  barely any1 is going to be playing on the original.  so u spend money to buy the expansion pack.  then another one comes out. then another.  i think monthly fee mmorpg are better because they improve the game itself, not just continue adding new things until they cant think of anything else.

    thats my 2 cents. image

Which really isnt much different from the ammount of EQ(soon to be EQ2) and Daoc expansion packs that come out- which is monthly fee+tons of expansions. People are overstating the ammount of expansions for guild wars, you still save over a tradiational mmorpg.

I'd have to say WoW or Asheron's Call. Things in WoW are a little slow right now because of the recent overload on the servers, but other than that it's a smooth and fun game to spend several hours on at a time. Asheron's Call on the other hand, if you pick a good server like TD or VT you'll have fun hunting with fellow clanmantes and the crafting get's pretty fun as well trying to imbue items and blowing them up as you go along. The other day I blew up up about 8 swords, 2 of them were work 5 with majors on them!!

So you choose, but choose right. I've wasted my money on several mmorpgs already.
