Just.. WOW!
So i got bored and the store happened to be open. A few hours later i found myself in the game. What a messed up interface. You have to right click to change modes from interaction to action. I found that a bit odd but i could have lived with it.. if it didn't take 60 seconds to switch between modes. Just.. WOW! I was hoping to have some PK fun but that's just ridiculous.
Before you ask yes i have the latest drivers. No my pc isn't a POS. Yes i played with the setting every which way. I'm a gamer after all.
If anyone has experience this delay in switching modes and has a fix i'd be happy to play this game a little. Send me a message if you can fix it.

yeh that's a problem lol it didn't happen on my cr@ppy comp, send in a complaint and hope it will be answered this year.
EDIT: seriously though send in a complaint or bug report or something, and if it doesn't get fixed soon refute the purchase with your credit card company if AV is not responding

I've heard if you turn off mouse smoothing, it helps. Don't know for sure. The html menus for things like clans, help. quests, etc,, are pretty lame, though.

I personally never heard of such a problem, on the official forums or whatever, seems to be something related to your computer or router, who knows.

Its your ATI card. Darkfall has many noted incompatibilites with the ATI drivers. Sometimes they work right, but mostly alot of tweaking is required in order to make Darkfall behave. What I've seen work on other users systems is to run at lower resolutions. Also disable mouse smoothing. If all else fails try using an older driver. Your problem is very touch and go, though.

I didn't have that problem either, but I would email their support team. I've emailed them twice for minor issues and both times they emailed me back within 24 hours.
Also, you may want to consider a post on the official forums. This site doesn't really specialize on Darkfall related technical issues.

This game is for people who have read what the game is all about first, and in so doing feel a spark of intrest like they havent had in a long time.

I'm just trying to find a solution to the problem and so far support hasn't helped straighten it out.

I've lowered all the setting to where i'd bet my old P4 could run it LOL. Mouse smoothing didn't help either. I can't really go the older driver route since it would cause problems with other games.
Ah well if i can't get it resolved i'll just get my money back. No biggy.

Why do all the fans of this game only have a handful of posts? Are there threads on the official forums directing people here to defend the game, or are they all multiple fanbot accounts?

The OP is talking about a technical issue. Lets keep it at that.
To the OP: I do not play DF, so I cannot direclly answer this but I have a similar incidence with other games, that during some particular interaction, my PC freezes for a fraction of a second.
Its with CoX, and I was using 8800 back then. I noticed the freeze cos the other background things also stop moving for that faction of a second. Surprisingly I go thru the log and noticed that somewhere it writes about n64_disp driver having issues. Eventually I got the blue screen of death saying n64_disp stuck in an infinite loop.
I know that games these days sometimes optimise for certain cards. Like WoW, a friend of mine who does software support tells me that Blizz now optimise WoW code for ATI, so the performance of ATI is improving fast. Turning the coin around, ATI back then has pretty bad drivers, and many software were having issues with them. Around a year ago.
So going back to the drivers a year ago might not ba a good idea, unless you know exactly which driver version fixes the issue you have, but not having other issues on their own.
I agree, ATIs drivers are notorious for needing tweaking and DF is new and have it's issues.
Running the game at a low resolution kinda suck so try to turn on and off as much as you can of the gfx options in the game, that might help. Older drivers might also help, or some kind of tweaked drivers, there are a lot of them out there.

To the OP:
You might try to use the Repair DF app that comes with the game. It'll validate all your files and re-download anything that's corrupted. You never know if a file got corrupted with the patching or something.

He actually wants to play the game and is having technical issues. He came here to seek help with a technical issue, not a game play issue. Please read the threads before posting. That helps tremendously.
Well after 2 days of trying different suggestions and absolutely no help from Aventurine except for standard canned suggestions ie. "check your firewall" "update your drivers" i have been unable to get rid of the 45-60 second delay when switching modes.
oh well at least i have other beta's to play
for free...

Now that's just ironic... your quote, "This game is for people who have read what the game is all about..." Maybe you should have carefully read the OP's, you'd realize this is a technical issue post and not a complaint about DF.
Weird it may seem, but I know back in beta people had this same problem. The solution was simple if you had a G15, G11, or another G** keyboard. Unplug your keyboard before you turn your comp on and load up DF when your keyboard is unplugged. Try to load the game that way and it could help. Also, after you type your password in, unplug it again and then plug it in when the game is loaded...Hope this helps.
