Back in the day when i played DDO every time i loged in i always asked my self "why is hasbro listed on the board next to wizards and turbine." some may know the answer to this but i do not. They seem out of place in the game community. For the most part every time i see hasbro is on kid toys, when i worked in retail you could not turn a cornor with out seeing a big hasbro logo. So any way i ask myself what do they bring if anything to the table. Now its kinda well know after the 4th edition release of DnD, hasbro had its hand it it. Whitch is why i think the new DnD looks like a game that looks to chilish even for 12 year olds. But might i digress, Why in the hell did they hook up with hasbro. I mean atari was a risk move but i could see them bringing something to the table. An if i am wrong about hasbro and 4.0 please enlighten me.

I wish I could honestly say that you are wrong...but I cant. 4.0 is a joke thats why my group still plays with 3.5. They basicly just wanted to make D&D look more like WoW and it failed hard. I think that DDO needs to shut its doors and give Brad McQuaid the reigns to make a Forgotten Realms MMO with either SOE or Microsoft funding or just a company with enough money to really make it Forgotten Realms. Not some instanced city joke like DDO is. The Forgotten Realms is a huge place with so much land that you could easily have it going for 10 years and if you made the combat and classes right in the game then it would be amazing. Someone needs to jump on this train.
Your correct in your assumtions of Hasbro, they brought nothing to the MMO market. They being a game board and toy company ventured out into a market untested by them to see if it's a viable market. Unsure what outcome will eventually happen but i don't see them disappearing anytime soon either.
Wizards of the Coast is a subsidiary of Hasbro so it is normal that the Hasbro logo appears on any product made by a third party that use any WoTC product.
Hasbro owns the rights to DnD, so when a company like Turbine wants to make DDO, they have to get permission from Hasbro and then that company gets listed on the opening screen.
makes scence is a buissness veiw, But the point is that a company like hasbro as no place in the gameing community. The last computer based programing they made that brought in any money was "leap frog". that game that tought kids math and basic english. An when company like hasbro start diping into games like DnD things like 4.0 and DDO end up happening. i mean DnD is great and all but it seems like hasbro is killing it. DDO had a promiseing future but i feel like it was short lived due to poor marketing. Hasbro is a great company for learning games and action figures but they do not belong in the MMO community.

Hasbro bought Wizards of the Coast in 1999 because, at the time, the Pokemon card game was making mad mad money. Frankly, D&D is an afterthought to Hasbro, the product probably doesn't generate nearly as much revenue as the family boardgames. I've heard rumors of them trying to sell it off.
The D&D rights need to find their way back to an independent company that actually cares about the IP but still has the savvy to operate a multi-media publishing and distribution operation. Kind of like how Dragonlance found a home with Margaret Weis and her affiliates.
