Its true!In my latest Game Informer magazine,it says that Climax was and is still working on the project even though Games Workshop, the company financing the game, decided to stop, and cancel it.CEO of Climax games Karl Jeffery says that Climax will continue working on this game, and its an expected release for mid-2006.This game was originally supposed to be Published by Sega of Europe.Whether the deal is still on or not remains unclaimd.Good news!!(incase u have GI Mag,turn to page 30 to see for yourself )

Warhammer Online... Id like to see changes made to it, otherwise, once again its a lit of same ol' same ol'
same ol same ol?
Read the fucking FAQ about what they are planning.. no way is it a cookie cutter mmorpg.
For starters it's FULL ON PvP, don't see many of those types of MMO about eh?

Actually,it says that Game Workshop was just financing the project and all, developing it was Climax, and publishing it is Sega of Europe. So now I a, woundering how theyre gonna sponser themselves...maybe they have their ways,or maybe......EA WILL BUY EM!HA!

jeez, mid 2006??
wasn't it supposed to be like... out now? *sigh*
Their web site continues to stay down and with a very laconic message, i heard the news about them on gamespot a month ago and i asked myself "But how they are gonna do with the license? is Game Workshop letting them use the warhammer world even if they do not finance the product?"
"If you give a man a fish, you feed him for a day, if you teach him how to fish, you feed him for a lifetime"
HOLY CRAP!!! FULL ON PVP, YOU'VE GOT TO BE KIDDING ME!! HOW INNOVATIVE!!11
Honestly though, Open PVP isn't new there are plenty of games that already do it and are doing it, Darkfall being one of them. And yes I did read over the FAQ, it is alot of same ol' same ol'.
Now lets not get into a fight now, everyone just wooosa....

As the previous guy said, Games Workshopp owns WarHammer Online, so unless Games Workshop allows them to make it, they cannot.
They either have the blessings of Games WorkShop and have to finance i themselves, or they will have to rename it and change thigs to make it not like WarHammer.
Ive hated Warhammer since the day my step brother started playing it. There is something about the fans that I hate so much, I would NEVER play this game. Maybe this sounds ignorant but I dont care, I wont let the warhammer fanboyism infect my mind.
EQ2 Qeynos Guild- http://www.imperium-arcanum.com
To the person who said it is fully open PVP no it is not,
The game world is mostly PVE but it has a properly stuctured PVP system through the jobs you can have in the game.
For example a witch hunter is PVP to witch's(and vise versa) the good thing is though not all jobs have a pvp element so PVE and PVP can co exist without getting in each others way.
Games Workshop owns the "Warhammer" brand they do not own Warhammer Online. They will have been funding the development and as we all know have pulled out of the funding due to both GW and Climax under estimating the development costs involved. Climax will no doubt have clauses in there contract with GW allowing them to maximise the revenue of the development work in any way they can. I would imagine that GW are only allowed to prohibit the launch of the game if they feel that their intellectual property is being miss-represented by Climax. If Climax want to continue development on their own then they would be free to do so.
I hope they are continuing with the development of the game, as its one that I would dearly love to see released, but I can't help thinking that they've simply "leaked" this information so that Climax's investors and share holders don't think that all the development time and money has been wasted.
I always was cynical though.
A Korpz in all things
A Korpz in all things
the news i've heard is that GW are still supporting the game, but in a non-monetary way.
so they're not funding it anymore, but it looks as if they're still involved in some way.
Warhammer Online, in my opinion, would have been the best MMORPG on the market. Great graphics, immersive gameplay and an awesome setting.
But now, the game that comes out, may be nothing like what was originally intended. Also, if it's due out in mid 06, I'm not sure it will be able to compete with all the well-established MMO, like EQ2 and WoW... and hopefully........ WISH!!!
[we need a worldwide genocide/ a planetary suicide/ and when the whole damned world is dead/ there''s your f***ing peace]
Time will tell if they can compete. They have still a long way to go and can learn form the mistakes the others make. This are good ingridients for a good mmorpg. Hope they don't change to much to the warhammer settings.

"If all magic fails, rely on three feet of steel and a strong arm"
If GW still support the game, then they surely can go on with it.
Frankly i was never impressed by the screenshots they released, i dunno, personal taste i suppose, but especially the human models seemed... plastic and not very well done :P Armors were nicely done tough but now they will prolly change the game in some way or the other.
Beside the graphics they had some really interesting concepts and i would love to see it finished.
"If you give a man a fish, you feed him for a day, if you teach him how to fish, you feed him for a lifetime"
Climax Development and Games Workshop setup a join venture to create Warhammer Online.
Games Workshop pulled out of the project and development immediatley ceased. Since then most of the original team working on the project in Nottingham were either made redundant or simply resigned and walked out.
Climax has not continued to work on the project. It is simply not true. They are misleading their fans, yet again. Look at their track record for making games...
Actually, Climax has recently laid off even more people at their Solent offices. They are in serious trouble. And even though Climax is laying off loads of people they still advertise job vacancies in game magazines and put out bogus press reports; damage limitation excercise.
Some comments from developers on the project:

Well,GI Mag has never let me down, but if it is a mistake, then some1 will question it,and they will fix it in next months mag..
