Maybe you should try the PvP-RP servers, works a bit better. I too got nailed as soon as i left the respawn area, especially in the lover level areas like totage and conall's valley.. But after that i think it gets a lot better.
IOriginally posted by barkjj Maybe I'm too old for video games now, the crowd I use to play with seems to have disappeared. Probably just as well, I'm in college again for a second major and I've been getting motivated to live in the gym again. Other things to look forward to, every elitist kid with a bow will camp you at the local quest giver area and/or rez/spawn area. Apparently, this cheap pvp proves to the world that they have "skills". I play on pvp servers on every game I have played. They know nothing of pvp.
I agree with you. Today's mmorpg's are run down by puberscent assholes with the IQ of a roach. Man, don't get me starting about the youth of today. Gamestudios love to cater to them because these basement dwellers are just so easy to please having nothing else in their pathetic lifes. Drooling on pixel gratifications and virtual females- about to be the only contact they ever have to the opposite gender (apart from their mother yelling down from upstairs to take their Ritalin)
I think it isn't us who grew too old for games, but most of the games came down so low that it takes a dork to enjoy them or a masochist to get along with folks "playing" them.
I've always been a gamer, starting in the 70s with shooting at a big square moving in a diagonal pattern on the tv-screen with a rifle in our living room. The controllers were just a stick with a wheel to move a bar on the screen up and down playing pong. When my friends ask me today why i am not playing anything of the recent games, i always tell them that it's not the games, but me being beyond sick of 99% of the people i meet in there.

The attitude of populations in virtually every game featuring player-on-player action has sunk to its lowest level ever. For the first time in my oh-so-long gaming history I'm finding myself leaning towards pve-limited servers in games, simply to avoid dealing with the non-stop bombardment of really poorly worded harrassment.
You'd think that the sheer volume of insults being tossed around these days that people would be getting better at devising them... no such luck.
My question is the game closer to what the Devs promised the game would be like at release?
If not how much longer do you think it will be before Aoc is the Epic game it was supposed to be?
I do believe that video was highlighting and showing you the new content and DX10.

I don't get your complaints Bark do you go out of your way to read what the kiddies are saying? If they're having a good time making jokes why is it your mission to be offended by it? Sure they should probably grow up but you sound like you need to also
Showing some nice effects and a lot of the progress within AoC.
It also shows some of the (IMO) less appealing features: 2D "blood splat" sprites are just... hmm either an ill executed Tarantino joke or just plain infantile. Sorry I just don't get it... Create a great looking 3D game and top it off with 1993 style 2D sprites :S)
Serious question: Can you turn off the ugly "onscreen 1993'style blood splatter sprites now?
And... Is this a CORPG or a MMORPG? As one of the comments stated: Not much "Massive Multiplayer" about...
But thats fair for a youtube vid (IMO) most MMO situations does not translate that well into a video
We dont need casuals in our games!!! Errm... Well we DO need casuals to fund and populate our games - But the games should be all about "hardcore" because: We dont need casuals in our games!!! (repeat ad infinitum)
looks exactly the same as when i played it a year ago....maybe if they made it more fun to play, people would actually come back.....maybe let the players explore some of that land, instead of making it so damn linnear....

Well we all know the game looks awesome.
