In need of some advise.....
I dont know how to word this so it dosent start a nasty thread, but here goes nothing... I am so bored with all the mmos ive tried lately, Lotro, Wow, Ao,Eve,Swg,Vg.... There is just nothing that seems to keep me intrested, no excitement, no risk. EverQuest was My favorite, perhaps just first love but there was excitement and risk! Im thinking of trying this game, but there is so much hate and love i dont know what to do. All i want is Exploration in a open world, and some risk around the next corner. I know the game is rough around the edges, thats fine by me! The patches seem to really be coming out fast and in the right direction.
What do I do!!???!!

I get bored with them too, played almost all of them. It gets old and you may need to step away and play some other kind of game. Play some FPS's or a good single player game. I am on a hiatus right now and playing fallout3, its keeping me busy and interested. I like the interaction with other players as well so I do jump in and play an FPS now and them just to frag someone. I have been thinking about trying Darkfall as well but I know that I am at that bored stage with MMO's at the moment. I have a WAR account but havent logged in for awhile.
Trust me, I've played almost all of them so someone can't say "oh, WAR, try another game and you won't get bored."

There are going to be people on both side but truthfully only you can decide whether its worth it.
If you can afford the money for the game I'd say give it a try. At worst your down a bit of money, at best you've got a fun new game.
I have personally never played but the press around the game and the players have made me uninterested, but thats just my personal opinion. Here's a link to the only Darkfall review I've found credible:

If u really are looking for risk, u should try darkfall. It is not for everyone, but if u know what u r looking for, this might be "it". I hope this thread wont turn out to be darkfall bashing thread, like most of these are.

I have fallout 3 too, and i tried just what you recomended, it is a good game i will say but i feel like mmo's have ruined my gaming world to just mmo's. Perhaps ill try it again, got farcry2 also.

I have played darkfall since beta, and i am gonna continue playing. It is only game that comes close to the feeling of old school MMO's. If you have long history with MMO's and word "grind" is not a curse word for you then you should try this out. And about the grind, is not even close to the grind u have to do in korean games (which i also like). After the new patch every skill is faster to train than before.

Sometimes you just need a break from computergames. do something else for 6 months or so and things should feel better.
Why not try some pen and paper roleplaying games with some friends? I reccomend Palladium. Or spend the summer at the beach and out drinking for that matter, all good things
Its funny because when use to play EQ and camp with a few friends and grind out lvls or drops or AA's it was the best time i had in a mmo. I guess it was grinding but it didnt seem like a bad thing. Perhaps this may be the game i need to mix things up. I do wish there was a NA server though.

Can I ask why you posted this? You seem to have set your mind up, and even your post, for wanting darkfall. Are you looking to be told YES BUY IT?
I can only advise you make up your own mind, I tend to bite the bullet and try games. Good luck.

LOL yes perhaps your right, that might be what im waiting for. Perhaps just hearing one thing i didnt before that cinches it for me.

I would wet myself is someone actually turned Rifts into an MMO.

I would always always recommend making you own mind up with any game, give it a try , you might just be pleasantly suprised .... one word of warning though its no picnic and will piss you off at times !
It will also take you an age to get make progress, there has been a new patch yesterday but its to early to say if its a big improvment.
I've been playing 3 weeks now and hav'nt TBH progressed very far from the noob areas .... but for for some strange reason still really enjoying it !
PS .. If your looking for risk well Darkfall is chock full of it, literally around every corner , theres not many games that'll make your heart thump in RL but this is sure one of em !
if you experienced no risk/excitement in eve... try leaving high sec. the validity of your post ,ended at that point for me.
could we please get correspondent writers and moderators, on the eve forum at mmorpg.com, who are well-versed on eve-online and aren't just passersby pushing buttons? pretty please?

Come play Darkfall Online man. It's risky for sure, and you get a really different feel then any other MMO. I'll give you a cool example that might sell ya on it:
I was in a goblin camp yesterday when I saw a mounted figure approaching me from quite a ways away. As it drew nearer and nearer, I placed my crosshair over him to see his name was RED meaning he could kill me and vice versa without penalty. I quikly ran into a house, up the stairs, and crouched behind a few barrels peaking out a window. I watched him patrol around the goblin camp looking for stragglers before he moved on to gank someone else.
Anyway, that moment for me was so exciting. Having to physically hide and camoflauge myself in an MMO? That's unheard of. I'm used to pressing "4" and going stealth, but actually having to camoflauge with my surroudnings brought so much more realism to the game. If you didn't know, DFO doesn't allow you to change camera angles at all, so if you want to look behind you, you have to swing around and look. It makes sneaking up on people a REAL aspect.
The game is a little rough around the edges, for sure. Maybe even a LOT rough, haha, if that makes sense. I'm planning on sticking it out -- I think they are capable of turning this game around. I'm enjoying myself, thats for sure.

If you want exploration and risk around the corner, yes Darkfall is for you.
The environment graphics are pretty good, the rest isn't. There is great risk, and if you enjoy the heart pumping action of PVP at any moment, then this game is for you. The group warfare is fun, bottom line. You can climb up anything and explore anywhere, and NO INSTANCES (my favorite part).
I focused on the positives because I'm sure there are enough threads in this forum to point out all of the games' faults. If you want to ask me anymore questions feel free to send me a message.
1. Do your research on this game b4 you play it.
2. Dont read anymore of these forums or the Official DF forums until you've tried the game and judge it for yourself. Play at least 3-4 days and post your findings. let us know what you think.

If you have the disposable income, get it and try for yourself. Just be prepared to be almost entirely on your own after installation. Because AV's support is next to none. It be hardcore like dat.
I promise, you'll know before your 30 days are up whether or not you like it.
Personally, I temper my MMO's by taking breaks, and playing RTS's for a while.

DarkFall FAQ - Read then Question with Boldness
Ask yourself these questions;
1) Can you handle mediocre graphic and poor animations?
2) Can you handle sound that at times is straight out horrible?
3) Whilst exploring will you be able to handle being killed when you have ran 30 minutes and then have to run the entire way again due to being killed?
4) Being ganked isn't a real issue for you?
If you can answer yes on those 4 questions imo then go ahead and try DF, quite possibly you will like it. DF has potential, but for me when I played it it also contained a lot of things that annoyed me. Expect to pay for a beta version of the game, because it is far from finished despite Tasos has claimed so several times :P
Also if you play the game, get yourself a Guild ASAP, this game is not designed to be played solo. You will meet gankers, you will meet good people and you will meet the scum of the MMO world in this game. Also be ready to have to put hours into learning the stuff you need about the game, this isn't a game that hold your hand the first "levels" and tell you what to do.
