Does anyone else have this issue...

Ok to start off here are my system specs...

i7 920, 6GB DDR3 1800, 160GB HDD 7200RPM 16MB Cache, Nvidia 8800GTS OC 512, Vista X64 Ultimate

Now I have everything in the game turned up to max for video at 1280x1024, and here is the problem...

I get what seems to be a stutter in the graphics during combat, and sluggish combat.  When I draw my bow back it starts the animation then blips back to my character just standing there and then a second later the mob gets attacked.  The animation just doesn't seem fluid or nice like any other MMO's combat.  It just doesn't seem like it could be my machine it should be able to handle the game no problem, it handles LOTRO maxed out, WAR maxed out...etc.  So is the problem just me or is there a setting I might be missing or something else that you can think of?

Thanks

there is an out of sync problem since last patch, specially with melee combat. animations are there but nothing really happes at times. so they say they are looking it up.

alot of problems since last patch which makes melee fighting a bit frustrating.

One thing that seems to help a lot of systems is to turn off the sound hardware acceleration.

I have run the game on 4 different systems that are slower than yours and its very smooth.

Thanks for the information, I haven't played in over a month due to this problem, I just installed windows 7 so I will see if it is any better, maybe I found my first problem with Vista...LOL.  I will definatly try to turn off the sound hardware acceleration and see if that helps.

Official forums say this is running on unreal 2.5 engine and only uses 1 core. This came from a mod in the Official Forums. I'm not pasting the link here so just look it up. It also says unreal 2.5 doesn't take advantage of the better hardware that most power users are using today. So it's possible for your rig to run crysis at 60fps and not run as well on TCOS. Having 1 core at 3.0 ghz is better than a quad core 2.66 in THIS game. I am only quoting what I saw in the official forums you can just search for the subject "performace"

Personally I can run crysis and lotr much better than this game, the only thing I run on this game is AA x1, full distance, set details to HIGH and enable the HQ lighting and HQ fog.  everything else unchecked including sound hardware acceleration.  In the starter city i can dip as low as 20 fps (especially where that big dragon is) and out of town 80.  Inside House Torque destroys my FPS also.

It seems when i start an animation for the first time it stutters but then after it saves it in the RAM (i think) i dont see it again.  Also i stutter in a new area as it loads in the RAM(again i think).  But after a bit it is fine.  I think the game is loading into the RAM wich explains the stuttering because when I return in the same session I don't see those problems.  Only when I first start a session.

Not being a developer not sure if  these are problems that can be fixed since it is running on this particular engine.  I would like to see some imporovement in future patches but it's not a show stopper (for me), just annoying at the moment.

I get a lot of hitching while moving around.

    Is this the same thing?

It didn't seem like lag or an fps problem.

VG uses the same Unreal 2.5 engine and movement feels a lot alike.  Just kinda choppy.

    It doesn't improve for me.

I can see other players and NPC's hitching when they move as well.

It's like trying to watch a movie that is missing every third frame.

I can't play very long without getting a headache.

I noticed this problem too. You did something and didnt see much and all of a sudden loads of colored numbers over your head all in queue.

Well I was so frustrated with the changes to the AI that this problem didnt really bother me. Having mobs hit you for 13% of your hits per arrow and spreading out kiting you and constantly reseting their hit points every time they bumb into a rock while kiting you took a bit more attention than some stuttering.

For the first time in the 8 weeks I have played this game I logged early and began to considder my future involvement in it.

"You are the hero our legends have foretold will save our tribe, therefore please go kill 10 pigs."

EDIT:  ok I orginally put in here that i wasn't going to play anymore cuz the bad stuttering got worse.  BUT I figured something out.  I disabled my ATI catalyst AI and ATI came out with 9.5 drivers.  I was on 9.4.  so anyway I did this the game is playable again.  So yay im back!
