Update on my take of Aion on a new server
so after 3 days of playing on one of the new servers, there is a few things i should let people know about. First off the lack of lag has been great. I have not had any problems what so ever.
Today i went from level 11 to 17 and I must say it was a great time playing the game. There is a ton of quest so far and I havnt had to actually stop and grind just mobs to level at all. Im 100% sure if you wanted to just level faster then grinding the mobs would be the fastest way, but I have grinded in MMO's since 1999 and im just looking to have fun. no rush to max level for me.
One thing that does concern me is the amount of bots. Now i have been dealing with bots for 10 years in MMO's and my patience is really good when it comes to them. but my patience was coming to a end today when trying to complete quest.
Some quest say to kill a specific mob that is on a slower spawn timer, so not only are there tons of other people trying to do it. but in a few areas today there was tons of bots all running around killing everything that moved. Now most of the time me and my friend can win the loot rights on a single mob that we are standing there waiting for. but today was pretty rough because the bots had been there for so long they outleveled the area by 5+ levels. This means they where 2 shotting mobs and even with 2 of us ( the same level as the mobs ) trying to kill it we failed many times before getting lucky. Then having to do it again for the other guy.. =((
But other then that game kicks ass, its way worth trying it out for the 15 free days.

I agree with you bots cuz are easier to deal with..... but when you see players from other faction using speed hack to kill you then its really ruined the fun playing.
its not a speed hack. buffs and pots will increase your speed a lot, then you get speed from titles. all these things stack.

I've played the game for a while now and is amazing. Client is great the game is nice graphics and storyline amazing (emotes are a bit too... much?:-)). However the ammount of bots, gold seller announcements in public chat or just the people using software (L2walker kind) to level is just overwelming. I'm not sure if it is being addressed in any way but if this will be the situation when it launches in Europe and NA it will be horrible.
I've seen everything from bots farming, leveling, waiting for craft material nodes to spawn etc. After so many years in lineage 2 I thought I've seen the worst but it seems NCSoft always finds ways to surprise me. I'll still go on playing the rest of the free days but if this is any hint of what is to come i for one will be very disapointed.
What area are all these bots in? I want to head there and check this out.
Could it be that you are playing on a server that has a lot of American players on it and that's why there's a proliferation of bots there?

If you use google and search around a bit, you can find a guide to help you install the chinese version of the game.
And if you can find the region 9 area you can play for about 12 free days. it was 15 days free when it opened but that was a few days ago.
I have no idea what area is all a bunch of strange symbols to me but no I didn't see many NA/euro players. Anyway the server just opened so everyone started small level including the bots so that's why they are so many visible tomenow.I was playing before ona different server that was somewhat older and I met them only occasionaly. I posted a vid in youtube but not sure if I can post it here but maybe you can find it by either my username or new aion vids. I only recorded for a bit since I was more interested in leveling to 25 :-).
PS (edited) just to get things straight I'm not complaining about the gold farming activity per se, I mean sure they are ruining the game to an extent but you can ignore them since they are in all the games of the universe... The problem in my eyes with Aion is that these are not your regular farmers with a guy controllng some chars to get gold these are completely afk bot program much like the L2 walker in Lineage. The fact that so soon at launch the farmers have already these tools available is scary. Also when walkers are available gold farmer numbrs tends to be 3-5x what it would be if they'd be forced to at least do the farming "by hand" :P.
These programs will not only ruin the economy but also the gameplay since you most probably can use them to level up fast get your gear fast etc fast
