I returned recently after a several year break and rerolled as I had forgot how to play, so, whta did I do today...
Missions for a level 1 agent in my destroyer. Pretty simple, it may not sound exciting but there is a plan. As I need better skills than I have no, I'm just doing easier L1 missions so I can improve standing while I train useful skills. When I get enough standing to do Level 2 I can train up cruisers and convert my destroyer to a salvager. Then I'll work on my mining skills a bit so I can do the L2 kill missions, go back in my salvager and and clean up then go back in a mining cruiser to jetcan mine the mission area if there are any roids there. I already have Indy3 so I can bookmark them and go back in my Itty3 and pick up the ore. I probably won't refine anything yet but store the aore until I get good refining skills. I will probably then sell the mins. I only produce the consumables from the reprocessed mission loot so I have no plan on getting my production skills up
This is very much how you do not want and should not play the game.

I was saying that in regars to OP's post where he seems to be looking for adventure and 'unexpected' situations. Something your play style is avoiding.
Note: If I may advice you to re-think your plan once again. Your plan contains a char performing a role of combat pilot, hauler, manufacturer and miner. You are trying to cover multiply roles with your newly created character, something that is generaly devoted to much older characters and/or alts. Better to focus on one role and make your best out of it.
Today is just getting started for me so I'll give you the run down of yesterday:
A buddy of mine has been practicing scanning and trying to get used to it. In the process he found two asteroid belts with various asteroid types. Since he is trying to gather materials to build his first Battleship, he gave me a call to see if I could help him with some mining. I hopped in my Retriever (Mining Barge) and headed over. I mined the ore while he hauled it to station.
Once we finished there, I headed back to a station where I have an R&D agent doing research. This is a daily trip for me and contributes to creating more datacores which I can later use in invention/production of better ships and equipment. That was a fairly quick trip so, afterward, I ran a few missions to work on my Caldari standing since my corp is mostly Caldari and I currently have a negative standing with them.
Later on in the evening, training completed on Gallente Frigates V. This was the last thing I needed in order to qualify to fly a Covert Ops ship. Anxious to give the new toy a spin. I went out and bought a ship and cloaking device, mounted my probe launcher and headed off to find the nearest Wormhole. Within a few minutes I found one and headed in. While in there, I found another wormhole and finally an exit 7 systems away from where I started. Before exiting, I scanned down a couple other players (not that I was set up for combat or anything), and checked out a few more Cosmic Signatures in the area.
All in all, it was a fairly busy day for me. Most days I am just running missions and mining with friends since I am bit more Science/Industry focused. But, now that I am into the Covert Ops ship, my role in scanning for my corp is increasing and I imagine that will start occupying more of my time.

4) Taught a VERY persistent hulk miner that even a 14,000hp buffer on a hulk isn't enough to stop us from blowing up his 200 million isk ship. Even if he is in a newb corp.
5) Killed various war targets the 'old fassioned' way....
6) Had a corp-mate introduce a flashy battleship who tried to steal from our cans of loot after a fight to the battleship bumping setup we came up with .... Quite fun watching his ship blow up 30k away from the station docking point going 'how did you bump me???' in local.
7) Chatted with my corpmates and did various 'officer' crap on forums and recruitment channels

I have mining 1, Industry 1 and Gal Ind 3. The rest are combat related. This gives me the ability to make my own ammo, haul my crap around when I change my base of operations and mine the mission sites to make extra isk. I know my main focus is combat related so thats where all my points go. I know there is no point rushing into bigger ships without the support skills needed to be able to fly it. I know all this because I research what I need plan the best way to achieve it.
I do not however take part in pvp combat as I've been playing MMOs for 6 years and have realized by now that I have slow reactions and get my ass kicked by the 12 year olds. When you die all the time in games with no real loss (eg WoW and WAR) it's frustrating enough. When you die in EVE you lose a great deal more so I discovered it's best to avoid it.
Seriously.... Kill... Loot... Salvage... then go get a new mission. Mining a mission for the 'extra isk' is a HUGE waste of time. In the time it takes you to mine it you could have completed another mission for 3-4x the money that mining a mission will get you.
Edit: Actually you could probably do SEVERAL missions in the ammt of time it would take you to mine the rocks in some missions with the craptacular mining skill you have

Well, today I acctualy didnt get up an look at eve mon for the first time, I just canceled my sub yesterday, I find I do that every other month with eve, play a month, quit for a month or two, than pick it up again for a month or two, than drop it again for the same period of time. As much as I like EVE, there is something about it that cant keep me subscribed for lengthy periods of time.

Join a player corp... a good one. You will find it greatly enhances the game. Well... at least if you PVP it does... can't speak to carebearing as I only do that to make isk to fund my PVP

I am the same, oh god how much I suffered in nano(speed fitted) gangs
Apart from fast ships, EVE combat is based on tactic rather then reflexes and that's why I like it. I can take my time to fit a ship, pick a place and time for fight, make right decision during the fight. PVP can be very accesible and cheap, use T1 ships with insurance. Also, you do not have to be top notch fitted all the time, getting friends helps a lot.

This response made me laugh a little. The great thing about EvE is that there IS no right or wrong way to play the game. Likewise there is no right or wrong way to fit a ship, run a corp, make isk, etc. You can try pretty much anything in the name of having fun, and I have over the past 5 years.
Quick synopsis of what I did today:
Flew a newly constructed blackops to jita to sell. Flew advanced materials back top base to build T2 components for a couple Recon/ Heavy assault BPCs that I just invented. Put 6 more ship invention jobs in the lab. Placed buy orders in good systems for raw materials including ice ore for POS fuel and low end minerals for future ship builds to avoid having to haul tons of tritanium and pyrite. Worked with a corp mate to jump a carrier and rorqual first to outer ring, then fountain to access a wormhole containing and "exceptional" asteroid field containing more arkonor, mercoxit, bistot, and crokite than we could mine in a day. Worked with alts and corpmates to get as much of the good stuff as possible before the WH collaped.. compressed and split with the ore... then scanned another WH and ran a radar site and mined some gas.
Spent a while doing HR for the corp, looking at applications, standings inquiries.
This is what might be considered a "carebear" phase for us although there was PvP contact at several points during the day, with our only loss being the cyno alt used in fountain.
As I've said many times before, I still find myself as excited to log into eve as i did during my first month almost 5 years down the road. This is because I always have a number of short term, medium term, and long term projects underway at any given time.. for instance taking advantage of the riches within W space requires careful planning and patience.. but the payoffs are great. I'm really looking forward to building and flying our own T3 ships.
I think the people that love eve are the ones that automatically start to set goals for themselves after they understand what the game has to offer.. whether that be killing, building, leading, exploring, whatever..
I've said it a million times and I'll say it again.. if you need someone to tell you what to do next you'll never really love the game. For me the goals and possibilities are practically endless and self evident.

If a trial can not hook you on a game then pass on it. A trial is designed to sell you on the game. Just move on.
This is the one game where the trail isn't designed to hold anyone to the game.
Hell the god damn trial covers about 5-10% of the gameplay in EvE.
To the OP:
What did I do today?
Well I didnt get to play long since today is sunday but I did take my Covert Ops Ship (Helios) and spent a couple hours scaning and probing space for a few buddies.
They wanted to check out a few wormholes and Exploration combat sites so they needed me.
I probed down three WHs and two Exploration combat sites.
This was earlier in the morning. I just logged in to find my buddies cut me a good chunk of the profit I made about 200 million isk for my troubles.
Tomorrow I plan on getting a little scouting action in im gonna hunt and scan out mission runners and ratters, locate, tackle and signal the troops for some Ownage.
I know what I do seems boring but to me its the most realistic MMo on the market, I say realistic because I actually feel like im apart of a living breathing Sci-fi life simulation.
I was telling y ou a trial is for. It eve's trial fails to do as I said, then the trial is a failure. In either case, I recommend someone moving on.
last monday i told my corp i would be inactive till next monday. I didnt give a reason as i thought it would be to controversial, since i want more people to step up and FC instead of counting on the same few people, one of them being me.
Anyways i told you that to explain why i was only on for 30ish minutes to move to our new HQ. On the route to that system i found a 29 day old drake ratting. I moved in and killed it, i tried to ransom it at a discount since he was so new (30mil) but he declined claiming he gets 30mil from insurance ..... apparently he didnt consider the 40 or so million it takes to replace his whole ship with modules and the 10-11m insurance payment.
After that i went into the next system to see 2 other neuts in local. I checked the biggest asteroid cluster in the system and found both of them in rifters in a belt. I moved in and popped them both, one of them was worth 70m+ due to expensive rigs. 2 Jumps later i was in my new HQ.
When i got into the station i repaired and submitted a petition asking about the drake killmail, as i did not get it. Although thinking about it, he might have self destructed without me noticing .....
so with this i have a question, when a ship self destructs, does the last player who shot it get a km? Like if a rat kills a ship the last player who shot it gets the km. Or is it just no km for the last player?

When a player self destructs, no killmail is generated, you have to kill them before they blow themselves up to get a killmail.
Everyday I hunt farmers/macros (dont ask me how I can tell who is one) and some trading on the side.
Last night I took my still new smell Tech 3 Loki out . Probed out some farmers and stole all their loot/tags. After a little while one group snapped and started firing at my Loki with a Navy Raven. Took that guy out pretty fast, then his buddy in a Golem decides to steal from my can, he goes down too. Both together dropped over 2b in loot. Today hauled the loot into Jita and sold it off, checked the market with all this new found isk and bought a new Proteus. Fitted that out real nice and snuck it out of Jita to my personal hanger. After leaving Jita I see my wallet flash and I see one of my favorite isk farmers bought 2000 wrath missles for 620m isk.... was a good day cant wait till tomarrow.

Today, I logged in, checked the new overview changes and got pissed off to degree I wanted to cancel my subscription immediately. Stayed logged on due ongoing OP and logged off all annoyed right after the OP was over.
There is no doubt that Eve online has a big learning curve compared to most mmo's but learning Eve is time well spend in my opinion :P
I recommend if you are having a hard time with it then join a corp or join the Eve university they will no doubt help you and show you everything you need to know.

Not to be argumentative, but doesn't this describe what you do every time they change ANYTHING in eve?
Edit- I think the time has come for you to show CCP how you really feel.. you should stick it to them HARD by cancelling your subscription and walking away from eve forever.
In this way you will wtfpwn them and show them, once and for all, who's boss.

Actually here i wasn't talking about the game at all, just your history of reacting to changes. You don't like to adapt.. just complain loudly to anyone who will listen. Read over yoiur own post history if you have doubts.
p.s. spewing random terms like "fanboi" and "facepalm" just makes you look like you have no facts whatsoever to support your position, and you and everyone reading this forum knows that.

Ok, well let me tell you what I was involved in in the last 24 hours.
I was involved in a capital ship battle with around 800 people in local. Our dreadnought fleet cyno'd into a system and took out around 60 enemy dreadnoughts along with a number of support battleships and others, with an estimated ISK damage of around 120billion.
Rather than mucking around in some silly RvR lake doing no lasting damage to an enemy (WAR, WOW etc..) casting the same spells over and over again, we put a lot on the line and hurt an enemy alliance where it hurt. In the wallet and the ego.
This is believed to be the biggest fleet battle of the year so far and I was glad to be a part of it.
Compare what happened in Eve and the lasting effects it has on both alliances warfare capability, morale and combat capabilities to what the average person did in Warhammer Online yesterday and you'll see why Eve is the best MMO out there.
I was part of something pretty epic yesterday. I've never been part of anything of real importance in most of the other MMO's I've played.

When you die all the time in games with no real loss (eg WoW and WAR) it's frustrating enough. When you die in EVE you lose a great deal more so I discovered it's best to avoid it.
Errrr ... wasting time...

Howver you plan might be fun, it is not efficient, just my 0.2 ISK...

OK that Golem deserved to get blown the f**k up. I mean I'm all for PVE but that just aint right.
Today I checked my sell orders and got a solo kill in lowsec .

Blind fanboism is no argument and does not change the shit into a gem.

What did I do today?
That sounds too much fun.
