You've got it all wrong. Gracia was released in multiple chapters, and the new final update is just the last major update of that series. Many more updates will still come. There has already been talks about the next update in Korea called Gracia Plus which might extend the current final or add something new entirely.
I really like Lineage 2 when I bought it a year ago but I had to quit before my 1st free month was up. There are TOO many bots in this game and that affected me on how long I would play the game. For one it was nearly impossible to find a group resulting in me getting killed in quests and losing xp. I went to the 1st major town and all I saw was people just standing there selling items. No one was talking in chat other then advertising what they are selling. I really want to like the game but I cant play a game with no one around to group with or even chat with.
Dont know what server you played on but there are always people to group with on Phoenix. The town you went to was Giran and its the town where everybody buys and sells so if you go there thats what you are going to see. As for the bots I never understand why somebody says the quit because of bots. When the bots start Pking people and talking Fortresses and Castles then I can see it but all they do is kill mobs. So what?
I understand how u feel but I'm sure you've been playing the game for along time. I'm talking about for new comers like me. There might be people who are willing to group and chat at later lvls of the game but for the starting areas and alil past that when u have nothing but bots running around instead of actual players it kills it. I would like to get to the higher lvl areas but I just cant see myself doing it with no one to group with or even chat with. I play MMOs to have fun with the game and community. I like to chat and interact with people ingame. All
Nobdoy groups in the starting areas of Lineage 2 because its a waste of time. The XP at low levels grouping is worse than it is playing solo. I dont think I have ever played a mmo where people group at starter areas and I have played them all. The only thing you should be doing in the starter town is following the quest that the newbie guide gives you till you get level 18. Then you do your first class change and start going to other towns where people group and do things. Seems like you just did not give the game a chance. What class were you? Did you join a clan? What level to you get up to? Did you even do your class change and move to the other towns where people do dungeons and raids?
Which is why you would join a clan academy.
This is a clan/alliance based game. And there are very real reasons for this.
This game also doesn't hold your hand (well, it does more "now" then when it first came out, but I digress) and you need to be proactive in finding out which clans/alliances have what standing in the world and whether or not they fit what you are looking for.
Hey, it could be worse, you could have started at launch and you would have had to deal with "high" level characters camping both exits of Dark Elf village and picking off new players as they left.
You would have then been forced to use the gatekeeper (which was a lot of money in those days) and then while running down the road you would have been stopped at a bridge by a group of players demanding a toll.
after that you would probably arrive at a leveling areas only to find that it was locked down by a clan who only wants their people to level there.
All in all new players have it easy today

The Good Ole Days Sovrath? hehe
I remember those days very well. The game is much more friendly to newbies than it used to be, but you have to let it all hang out nonetheless. Once you get to level 16-18, go to Gludio and shout for an Academy. I don't know of many clans that would turn down free Clan Points and raising an Academy toon is the easiest way to get them. If you're lucky, you might even fit in the clan who gave you a shot. In the end, Sovrath is correct, you have to actively pursue relationships in the game, it won't come to you.
