The only databse admin at CME for SGW has left click, so what happens from here? It seems to me that the chances of SGW making it to market just took a kamikazie course down diahrrea drive without a parachute!
If this is true that he's the only database admin for SGW then this is a seriuos blow, I doubt they are planning to develop SGW any further until a replacement is found and brought up to speed. Perhaps this might have something to do with there being no news game wise since late last year?
Is this another ill omen of the demise of CME?

Yeah, all the news about SWG has been negative lately, and I'd have to almost put it in the vaporware category at this point. (or at least in the same shape as G&H was)

I still think the game can make the market... but my question is more what will the game look like?
EDIT: I just checked the link.. it says nothing about why he left, for all we know his job could have been outsource as someone suggested already.
Didn't say anywhere to my eyes that he was laid off, just that he's not with the CME anymore. Doesn't really indicate one way or another to me whether his position there was filled by someone else. While the info out there is leaning towards "not-so-good" for these guy, I still think that far too many conclusions are jumped to on your part, Agri. When I google stuff to find out about this stuff, the most things I find about it are your (or at least someone with your Username's) posts about it, and I have yet to see anything concrete to back up your claims. If you've got it, show it!
Because to be completely honest, it seems more and more like a one-man smear campaign (with nothing but speculation/conjecture on an iota of information) the more I search for evidence of these claims. Might I ask, agricola, why spend so much time foruming about a game you clearly have NO interest in whatsoever? What's your personal motivations for this?
Not attacking, just asking! If you've got hard evidence, we want to see it. If you don't....well, like I said, this is starting to appear like a one-man smear campaign. I have been able to find nothing except your forum posts in regards to the CME lawsuit, for example. Where was this lawsuit filed, what court is dealing with the proceedings, link me up! Just an example for what I'm looking for in concrete evidence.
I really hope that *insert game name here* will be the first game to ever live up to all of its pre-release promises, maintain a manageable hype level and have a clean release. Just don't expect me to hold my breath.
My personal motivations? I want to see SGW make it to launch without pyramid scheme spammers ingame. It ruins not only SGW or any chances of success, but also hurts the MMORPG industry as a whole.
You haven't been looking very hard if you feel " I have been able to find nothing except your forum posts in regards to the CME lawsuit, for example. Where was this lawsuit filed, what court is dealing with the proceedings, link me up!". Go to the lawsuit thread in this forum and read it, the lawsuits are all linked where you can read the reference numbers and where it was filed and by who and even the names of the judges and attorneys. You can go to the rumour room and look under the "CME is broke" thread, all the information you are looking for is there.
If any claims of mine you believe to be untrue I would appreciate you show some links or concrete evidence. Admitedly I'm speculating on the conditions as to which he left employment. Due to the facts that CME is in financial trouble and are laying off alot of staff recently, these facts have heavily influenced my opinion upon the exact conditions. Added that he is someone CME wouldn't consider dead weight and amongst those to be fired. I surmised that CME is either in total collapse and laid him off or he left due to not being paid. Because during this recession people don't quit well paid stable jobs, however I am merely speculating and these are the factors that lead to my conclusion. Although it is a fact he is no longer working there since Feburary.
I would appreciate if you read those threads and click on those links then formulate an opinion and post it here afterwards, I'm always interested in new opinions. Also if you have anyother information wether it's to the contrary or otherwise I'm always interested. Finally no offence taken mate, I appreciate someone ready to question how I came to my conclusions and where the information is rather than reading a wall of verbal abuse because you don't agree with me!

I didn't mean to accuse you of anything, and I haven't formed an opinion, that's why I'm on here. Like I said, I only googled for these things, as you said I have NOT searched hard. Google didn't lead me to anything, which is why I asked what I did. I actually did track down that thread on the main forum's site, among a couple of other involving the courtroom issue, and using the AZ biz link you posted in the other post on here, saw the other stuff I've been hearing about. I am always skeptical of the doom-n-gloomers on forums, but I'm equally as skeptical of obviously sketchy business practices. Like you said, seeing this game get to launch, AND uninvolved in some pyramid scheme should be our ultimate goal. I was just trying to ask you straight-up what you were about. I wasn't attempting to state your claims are untrue, only challenge them (while being open to you being right). It does us no good to just close our eyes, stick our fingers in our ears and go *lalalalalalalala* and hope it all turns out okay, as some seem to want to do on the main forum. Maybe they are just hoping for a beta invite, or just trying to protect the community from becoming totally rotten.
The more I read and search, the less your posts read like the average doom-n-gloomer hater crap, Agri. The information is scarce, but based on the little out, your thoughts fall well within the boundaries of potential reality!=)
I really hope that *insert game name here* will be the first game to ever live up to all of its pre-release promises, maintain a manageable hype level and have a clean release. Just don't expect me to hold my breath.
Well thanks, I only assumed you hadn't read the threads but I'm sorry if I was a bit defensive. I welcome any debate on this subject though, as I'm quite happy to find out that MMOGULs is just a bad dream and SGW is going ahead with no problems! I'm not waging a personal vendetta against anyone, maybe an inpersonal one against Gary Whiting However I don't want to see another good IP go down like the others have, I was there for SWG and it wasn't fun.
Thanks for actually looking at what I and others have posted concerning the facts, then commenting on the facts and keeping your comments on my opinions and facts seperate. I apologize for somewhat merging my facts and opinions in this thread but it slips past even the best of us. Remaining objective is the best way for all of us to maintain our dignity and avoid being banned!

Well said! And no worries about being defensive, its only natural based on the nature of how internet "debates" usually go: Suppression fire, hunker down on position and defend to death.
Is there any more information about the lawsuit other than the article that lists it. With all the other rumors flying, it could mean serious trouble, but it could also be something innocuous.
For example once upon a time, I worked for an Electrical Contractor who's business practices were pretty suspect. I remember a job getting done, and while the check was in processing, it got canceled due to the work malfunctioning. My bosses had 'claimed' not to have been told, and instead of fixing the work, went ahead and filed a lein against the company who had rightly canceled the payment for the sub-par work.
Again, Agri, not attack your position at all, just explaining why a filed lawsuit doesn't NECESSARILY mean something huge to me. And again, not saying you're wrong, either. Just wondering if you've got some info on that=)
Thanks! And thanks for a good discussion on a topic that usually and quickly degrades into a crap-flinging flame fest.

I have information on one of the lawsuits from one of the parties. It's the lawsuit where CMG (Cheyenne Mountain Games I believe) and MMOGULs both sued Robert Guenther. I've posted some of his thoughts concerning the state of CME and Gary Whiting and what happened to cause the lawsuit.
According to Robert Guenther he'd been ripped off by Whiting and thrown out of the MMOGULs deal in which he was one of the partners that first started it. He is also an investor in CME apparently, he went to the offices of MMOGULs which are situated in the same building as CME/CMG and was removed by police and had a restraining order put on him. The restraining order has now been lifted, but he was going there to sort out his business trouble with Whiting and got removed.
Now Robert Guenther is just as shady as Whiting in my opinion, in fact anyone involved in MMOGULs is a shady character in my opinion. However some of what he says does offer an insight into what is going on inside MMOGULs and CME, also he is the only person providing a logical reason for the whole escapade. You'll find me quoting him in those same threads I mentioned before, but they are his quotes so it's up to the reader to evaluate them. I by no means believe that what this guy says is the gospel truth nor that he's some sort of martyr, however Gary Whiting is as elusive as the Scarlet Pimpernel and staff at CME are releasing what I call "deniability soundbites" on the subject. No doubt manufactured by team Whiting.
Most of the regular posters at the SGW official forums choose not to objectively analyze the facts then form an opinion based on that. I call them the "FanOri". Blinded by their faith in CME and desire to play SGW they deny the existance of anything contrary to that belief. Even worse they twist whatever they can to fit their certainty that all is well with statements such as "we've had three months of no news because CME have decided to have a news blackout so they can concentrate on getting SGW into Beta!". So what about the public relations depoartment? The community manager? Don't they pay someone seperate to release news and stir up then maintain interest in the community? The answer usually is followed by either infantile abuse or explinations that would make the "Son of Sam" seem absoloutely sane!
I applaud someone who will debate and be objective, I accept evidence that doesn't agree with what I've posted and will change my opinion accordingly if it proves me wrong after objectively analyzing it. The FanOri refuse to accept the existence of anything that doesn't fit in with their faith, and abuse the poster whilst ignoring the information or merely posting a rationalization of their belief then abusing you.

That's why I left that forum for good. Now, if the game ever launches and it is NOT connected to any MLM scheme, I might still play it because I love SG so much.

If it's not one thing, it's another. Granted the news about this game has been a bit of a downer and as someone mentioned earlier, It may end up being vapourware. The lay offs can easily be a mark of doom, however if there is outsourcing there may be a chance to make it to launch. This is really too bad.
Agricola1, thats why I love MMORPG's forums - try posting a post like this in the SGW forums under a private command it only gets modorated.

Great sum up of the current feeling shared by many followers of the game that aren't raging FanOri's.
5/5 Stars
If I was a betting man I would say the guy left before the rest of the rats left the sinking ship and took what little opportunities there are out there for himself, that would be my best bet.
I've been following your posts with great interest, my eyes have been opened to this whole sordid affair and it took me quite by surprise, then again I usually do not bother to delve into the financial aspects of the MMO development, I'm more interested in it after it's hit the market and able to be played.
I do hope this game will become a reality, as I have thoroughly enjoyed the program itself and would love the chance to try the finished game.
The game is so far from release it would be crazy to think that they can withstand lawsuits, layoffs and still somehow manage to develop the game for 2 more years and publish it. It's just not going to happen. I've known the true state of the game for quite awhile and it's not pretty.
Make a difference!
If you really enjoy the show and like the stargate universe the last thing you want to see is this game.
Make a difference!
He didn't get laid off, in fact they tried to keep him. He walked when his friend and boss, the technical director walked after being offered huge amounts of money and control to stay. So did several other people. There were about 15 layoffs executed by that same TD just before he quit, of which one person they hired back after the TD left.
Yes they are in quite a bit of trouble, they've lost a lot of talent though everyone is currently paid in full folks had to suffer without pay for several months. Culture wise those leaders who have left and some who are present have left morale and attitude in the toilet. It'll take a miracle to turn it around but there are people still there keeping the lights on and still trying for as long as the money holds out.
Where did you get this information?
Where did you get this information?
Does it matter? What he posted is about the usual for any company with any kind of problems like this. I still don't see what the fuss is about, if it's going down so what...at the moment CMG still think the game can be finished and released. If you don't want to pay for a month DONT. And please...people stop posting your opinions, seriously noone cares... If it's released great, if it isn't shame. Get on with life.

So what you are saying is noone cares about an opinion yet you right an opinion. so dos that mean we are not to care about yours either? ok wil do
