Which one would be a better computer?

SimpleCrossSimpleCross Member UncommonPosts: 17

I was thinking of buying a new computer, and this two computer has the same specs but the size is different.

The specs are 2.8gh, 4gb ram and 500gb memory, for both. I was wondering whether buying the bigger computer which cost more or the slim computer which cost less.

Then it would come down to which case you like the most, wouldnt it.

I usually go for the bigger case if it has more bay slots for hdd an souch. There is also a chance that the bigger case have airflow and thus cooling.

Or you could just go with the one that looks the coolest....if you are into that

Don't go for a slim case.  It has no upgradability.  Its something prefab makers love because when you need to upgrade you have to upgrade your machine.  With a larger case you have the option to replace the video card and PSU.  These are probable upgrades you will have to make in the future.

4GB ram is usually used for a Vista 64 system.

    Go for the larger case.

It will accomodate larger video cards and accesories, as well as maintain better a better airflow keeping the hot parts cooler, larger cases can hold more cooling fans to supplement cooling and can hold more hard drives (in case you need to expand.

Also  if you ever have to do any work inside the case you have more room to do what you need to do.

If you want a pc that could play on max for the next 2+ years wait till end this year, then DX11 releases. If you don't want to wait take the 4870X2 from ati which is the fastest graphic card current on the marked (this is a SLI card so use the right Mainboard). I would also take a quad core or the new processor from Intel which releases end this year -forgot the name- (although this one wont go for under 350 euro) and 8gb ddr (if you use more then 4gb you need 64bit vista).

When you have some money left buy a raptor 150 gb 10k rpm hhd for realy fast speed. (watch out that you take a good cooler and a high power suply of 550W+).

(Note that prices will raise in the next months since the economy in the USA is going better again (this is primary for Europe because of the valuta transaction) and the christmas periode is comming)

Go for the slimline if its only ayou save 20% of the cost by doing so. I mean you hard gettign charged $100 for a junk nomral sized case might as well save $100 dollars and get a small case... besides no point in upgrading a $400  computer.

Maybe if you could provide links to each so we could see if the regular case offers anything the slimlin does not.

Definitely the computer with a larger case, easier to upgrade because there's obviously more room to work.

The first upgrade you may be looking at is the GPU, I'd reccomend an ATI 4770 or Nvidia 9800. Cheap but cheerfull GPUs, the 6150 you have just isn't really good enough even for MMORPGs in my opinion.
