Finally! Release dates announced.
"Monte Cristo is very happy to announce that Cities XL, the next generation city builder, will be released on september 3rd 2009 on PC DVD in the following countries: France, Germany, Belgium, the Netherlands, Luxembourg, Switzerland, and Austria, in French and German languages.
A release is planned for other countries in English language, we will announce a precise date as soon as possible."
No news on English language version. Of course with any MMO even a few weeks head start can be a big deal, i don't know if they plan on having separate language servers.
Given the developer is French and city builder / transport games do very well in Europe its no surprise they have gone here first imho.

Not sure if they plan on seperate language serves. Id assume that was part of the plan. If not I'm sure players will segregate into cultural cliches eventually. Frankly I don't mind diversity though. Can't wait to build the farm city I have planned!
Aye, but as the online game part revolves around 'planets' i woud assume they have language specific planets at the very least. Having played MMOs on european servers on account of being in the UK it can get a little err, 'confusing'...
