Hello!
I think its a great moment to revive Halgar(EU) Vanguard server. There are so many people playing on Island of Dawn every day and the only problem is people frightened to face empty world after leaving Island.
I am currently playing free trial on Halgar too, and already decided to buy full game. Let's post our characters names in this thread and lets stay in touch in game! We can even make a guild for all newcomers to explore game together, to share knowledge, to help each other and to organize groups and dungeon runs. I have huge experience recruiting and running big social guilds in many MMOs, although i dont have enough free time to run my own guild now. Lets finally build living low-middle level community on mainland and advertise it on trial island so people will see more perspectives and ways to brighter future after they leave island.
My character name is Rushag orc dread knight. Feel free to send me tells ingame.
Get your free trial here: vanguard.station.sony.com/isleofdawn/
Vanguard client does not support antialiasing, you can enable antialiasing in your graphics card control panel (Game will look MUCH better).
PS Excuse my not native english

Timelord
I have no idea what you're talking about and, against my better judgement, I'm honestly curious! On topic though, nice idea OP. I'm en Eu player getting back into VG myself, I think it's a great idea to try and get a few of us together to level through and past IOD.
I still haven't settled on a class yet but I'll PM you or message you ingame when I have!
"Timelord" is his character name
You make me buy the game.
I had a Trial of "Isle of Dawn" but never subcribed to the full game.
I've been reading on this forum about Vanguard, and I think it's about time I do it.
BTW, the graphics in this game are amazing , especialy at night.
I'm a member of Coloholics Anonymous.
Bah, I'm slower than usual tonight
Huk - Halfling Druid. But I was thinking of starting over with a cleric, I'll post name when and if I do!
Tikzitra - Diciple I also play Wolf a 36 Dread Knight
Well, you dont need to revive Halgar, since its population is more then healthy. But ya, if someone thinking about going to Seradon or Xeth to get more people to play with, think again guys. We have better ping for EU, better timezone and friendly community you'll definitely enjoy.
Howdy Rush, Sinhal here
On the revival thing tho... well, I am seeing people all the time on our server.. There might not be 100 of them stacked on top of each other fighting rats in a field, but it's far from barren. I also got what seems to be a good active social guild that has a decent playerbase with many alts, so that has helped.
All in all, after one day on the mainland I am still feeling really good about the game
Heh! Hey Sinhal!
Nice to hear from you. See you soon on mainland!
Haaken here.... playing on Halgar
So i never played Vanguard before, today was the day i decided to try it out. Why? well, i dont have any other games at the moment, and i seen more and more post about people going back to VG and enjoying it, so i decided to try it out for myself.
I downloaded the game, fired up my 14 days trial, first impression, nice graphics, second impression, kinda confused.. the quest system is a little confusing for a newcomer, but you get the hang of it by messing around a little bit, and also the people around you are very helpful. Shout-out to Timelord for dragging me through alot of quests. Third impression, why give me a 14 days trial, when you can only get to lvl 10..
i Think this is the biggest problem, when you hit lvl 10, and done all or most quests on the island, you have a feeling of still not knowing whats beyond the island, and what you gonna get for your bucks, i felt there was alot of questions unanswered, so what did i do? "/regionsay sup guys, is this game worth paying for?".. and the chat went flying, and so did the time, very nice guys, very helpful and fun. i remember rushag in the chat too.
There is a few bugs here and there, like when you swim backwards or sideways, or when you stand on a rock, your char will occasionally crouch and then stand back up, like its trying to teabag the rock. not gamebreaking, just a little annoying.
But all in all, very interesting game, was surprised by the looks of everything, nice gfx, very interesting quests, they are different from ordinary kill x, collect y quests.
ill probably try out a few more classes on the island before ill decide if im gonna sub..
Peace out
Beazt / Haaken Neth, lvl 10 monk, Halgar EU
Hello Rushag...
Glad your enjoying it. I returned to Vanguard after leaving not long after release cause of the bugs. At the end of the day people have to make their own minds up. There were a lot of negative posts, and still are. I resubbed and enjoyed myself so much I got an account for wifey and son. We all play on Halgar and dont seem to have too much of a problem finding groups, server pop reaches medium quite often. The community is excellent and very helpful. Vanguard whilst still having a few niggling glitches here and there runs just fine for me now. The world is unique and very large, great to explore and although Vanguard is not hardcore, its tough enough to give you a sense of apprehension when you want to explore that lonely ruin you found in the hills. Enjoy you Dreadknight, fun to play and a good tank.
so i use to play on release, i enjoyed it ( even with insane amount of bugs) but unfortunately the community was dead due to whineing about the game ect, never got to far BUT ! i do remember the game being fun so ima come back downloading the insanely large urr " update" which i think is probably the client :P then il start a trial and hopfully start payment within the next day or two
5 level 80's on WoW -_- boooooring !!
Its good to see alot of new and returning players, and its great to see so many enjoying it, I have recently come back from a 5month break (RL issues) and decided to upgrade my PC, Im running maxed out and this game blows any other game out of the water with the graphics. I sometimes log on just to explore and marvel at the beauty that is Telon.
agree, world graphics are wonderful. Animations would need some love (more fluidity) to make VG an exceptional visual experience.
Wow! So nice to see so many replies and also its cool to see same people here and in game
Hello Haaken!
About minor graphics/animation glitches, i just dont care, gameplay is great and graphics is better than average. Gameplay is much more important for me than graphics, its gameplay makes you love or leave games.
About 10 level cap... im sure its done for reason. You shall try other spheres, actually there are 30 levels cap not 10. Crafting and diplomacy is not just minor additions its also independant main spheres of game (and with great rewards) along with adventuring. And dont say "ohh may be next time" or "im so tired now for diplomacy", just get 10 levels in all spheres. And of course you can try different classes, they are worth trying.
Damn! Never ever expected myself to become VG fanboy! Shame on me! do not idealize games, do not idealize games, do not idealize games, do not idealize games, do not idealize games, do not idealize games, do not idealize games, do not idealize games, do not idealize games, do not idealize games, do not idealize games, do not idealize games, do not idealize games, do not idealize games, do not idealize games, do not idealize games.
Hi Rushag,
Welcome to the friendly Halgar! The server is alive and well, but because the world is so huge you can feel at times that you are all alone.
The game is very rewarding, although some goals are long term ones and there is some grind involved. As an example, today I just achieved a huge goal, building my first galleon ever. This is a huge undertaking, and really took some effort. Our guild forums has a thread describing this project... here's a link to today's piccies: my galleon thread
Feel free to say hi in-game!
Best regards,
Master Shipwright Sophi Silverstar, Exemplar of All Telon
Thanks for warm welcome and interesting link Starelf!
Whats a purpose of ships in VG?
Ships: travel fun, luxury, show off, crafting goal. One 'real' purpose is that you can fish off them, reaching deep water chunks otherwise impossible. No storage on ships, player houses and guild halls have that (and player bank).
I resubbed last week and have started playing again.
Currently a level 16 Disciple called Oneab been casually jumping around questing and whatnot. I levelled my diplo and crafting on the Island so i was 10/10/10 when I left but haven't bothered since, although I probably will when i hit a levelling wall. Just about to start the URT quest lines and see what happens.
As I said been playing quite casually but so far it's been fun, if I'm honest though I prefered my old Bloodmage back on release to this disciple but it's fun enough.
