I have been waiting for a decent MMORPG game to out so i can be at the start of the game so i dont play catch up with people. I played Horizons, which turned into a grind which is pointless. I'm supposed to be having fun. Also there was no PVP. But what was the most painful was we were still in beta what with lag etc.

Went to SWG again grind grind grind just to survive for 2 minutes in a battle against imps. No thank you.

EQII is my next try. Very impressive! no lag to speak of, everything smooth as silk IMO. Not a hint of a rush job. Graphics look great. However i feel a little empty. The quests are varied & plentiful, but it all seems a little pointless. I complete a quest then onto another. Group with some people do more quests. What happens to my character will be the same when i'm leval 15 as to when i'm leval 40 just harder quests. ala Everquest. sic. What this is missing are is PVP & guild wars. That is a sure fire way of putting fire in the belly of people.

I have to wait for WOW to come out cos i'm in Europe which is a pain in the arse. But i believe when it comes out more people will be playing it because of the PVP adition. Graphics dont mean zip if it dosnt make you want to develop your character. Surly Role Playing has to have player interaction? Whats the point of having good & evil if you cant thunder bolt an evil doer?

Just out of interest what do you guys think?

When exactly did you discover that EverQUEST has a lot of quests and no PvP.  Darn shame nobody told you before you bought it.

Thanks for stopping by though.  image

I think that people advocating PvP in EQ2 are wasting their time.

It is not PvP and (rightly so) never will be.

You are right Vopi, EQII is not PVP. However it will not have the longevity of a well balanced PVP based MMORPG. there is no doubt of that.

Hey hey! You never know! EQ didn't have PVP at launch but implemented it later. I'm hoping for the same in EQ2. I think EQ2 is an awesome game. However having PVP makes the content x a million to me. Plus roleplaying with EQ2's storyline. Roleplaying: Paladin and Cleric are travelling in a deep forest. They spot a necro!!! Paladin says, "GRAB HIM!!!!" "Wanna join our group?!"................................................................

And for those who don't want PVP it's simple. Don't join PVP server. So I don't see how someone who says, "I'm glad there is no PVP." Because frankly it doesn't effect you one bit if there was or wasn't. Just don't join a PVP server then. End of story.

They'll eventually implement PvP in a freaking expansion... think about it:

Cold War between Qeynos and Freeport? classes to have a pretty darn balanced grouped PvP, as the story of  EQ unfolds there will be wars

If a game has PvP it needs to be designed from the ground up for PvP. Adding in PvP as a afterthought is a sure rtoad to disaster. Class balance for example is much more critical. Ways of handling and controlling griefers etc etc. I myself can afford 2 MMORPGs and if I feel my PvP itch coming on I can always play a bit of WoW or even the upcoming Mourning.

    I miss DAoC

Erm EQ1 has no pvp and not only has it been around for 5 years it has 500k accounts so how you came to that conclusion i dunno.

Probably same way you ended up sending $50 without knowing EQ2 has no PvP.

Sorry if i ended up flaming you  but honestly you asked for it not just once but twice image

You are right Hercules. I spend money like it's going out of fashion. I did have a slight hope that i could enjoy an MMORPG without PvP. Guess i was wrong. What a tart i am & 24 squid lighter. ho hum

Nope, sorry, under current societal directives it's no longer permitted to enjoy (1) games without PvP or (2) games that are not WoW.  By popular demand all non-conformity must be eradicated and we shall all drive Chevys, drink Coke, and listen to Britney Spears - all of which are, of course, the better choices anyway, as demonstrated by sales figures.

Actually, though, I tend to agree with the people who say there will be PvP in EQ2, and I don't think it's any afterthought.  Obviously there's the fact that the whole setup of two opposing factions is just too perfect for RvR,  but also listen to what some of the NPCs say ... yes, some of it could be for flavor and lore, but I really don't think some of it quite fits those purposes.  E.g., listen carefuly to some NPCs in North Qeynos.

Ugh...how nice would it be if Qeynos and Freeport did go to war.  Good vs. Evil.  The prefect roleplaying senerio.  Plus how much excitement and anticipation would that put on just running out to collect some crafting materials.  You'd have to hire a few ppl to come with you.  Oh that just adds more.

And then...if EQII did something like DAoC when you kill another real person you get alternate points toward different abilities...man that would be great if EQII had PvP.

Oh, how awsome would it be to sneak into Qeynos and attempt to assasinate Anyona Balye.  Hehe.  Or how much fun and excitment would it be to go fishing and have to bring your guildmates along just for protection.  Oh man that would be cool.

Eq2 and pvp ? LOL cmon guys the gfx is ubah but there is the weak point ... do you really wanna see mass pvp with 200+ peeps on one of those "mini" maps in eq2? that would be a lagfest even worser then anarchy online mass pvp ;P and where should all the pvp cowards hide when eq2 get pvp too ^^

Its hiliarious how few of you read boards.  Its been known since the begining that PvP is not in any shape or form implemented in the game right now.   Im not trying to flame any of you, but it just BLOWS my mind.   I Mean..its kinda posted EVERYWHERE that there is No and will not be for the time being any PvP.

And the rest of you that are like Oh they need to work on that.  Um..keep dreaming!   The dev's have already said  that their only Development goals right now are MORE PvE content and PvE content only.   Its been nice to finally meet PvE players who are sick of being rampaged on by Pker's which most PvP players are(in my own experience most PvP players are nothing but Pkers).    Don't get me wrong  I think Dueling and guild wars are fun, but PvP in general sucks.  I for one am glad the Developers are now working on the PvE end of the game and ONLY concentrating on PvE.

Just to show the one of many many posts on PVP and EQ here here's my proof so you can't flame me asking for it.
