Whats Death like in eq2. I know its like soul shards and stuff, but from what i hear it sounds a little harsh. Like you miss your soulshard and your char is gimped for like 3 days. I havent played, but im just wondering whats death look like and is it to harsh? (Screen shots of death would be nice like if you turn into a ghost or something.)

Yeah, you drop a shard where you died and usually get a choice of several nearby respawn areas, where you then appear with all of your gear intact (though in slight need of repair), and with a fair bit of XP debt and reduced stats. You'll usually want to retrieve your shard, as doing so eliminates the vast majority of your debt and restores your stats. If you choose not to retrieve your shard, your stats will return to normal in three real-time days, and you'll be stuck with the full burden of the XP debt you incurred.
I've played EQ1, City of Heroes and now EQ2, and find this death penalty to be right in the middle of them all. In EQ1 you had no choice but to traverse long distances over hostile territory while "naked" just to retrieve your hard-earned gear. There was no alternative if your corpse was lost or in too dangerous an area for you to venture a second time, much less unarmed. CoH, on the other hand, respawned you at a hospital in the same zone with no other penalty than some XP debt. Not much to lose. I don't mind EQ2's system at all.
Another note: XP debt is shared by all group members. The fairness of this is debatable, but essentially if the team fails to work together and protect one another, everyone takes the hit. I like this also.

one note tho, the exp debt system works just fine. people complain about it cause they will some times get debt but the way it works is if you are soloing after you get your shard you will have like 5% debt. if your in a group it will be alot less usually 1-2%. i think it helps out alot. intell the day when all your group mates die in an encouter.
