I do enjoy the style of their graphics engine. It has a very realistic, but colorful and mythical feel.

Just hopefully the gameplay will be just as on par with its graphics engine.

I dont get it, a WoW vs EQ2 thread will get tons of replies which generally revolve around people complaining about the number of those threads... then we get this great looking new game and no one cares... I dont get people ::::12::

Well... there's no info or anything, other than these very nice looking screenshots...

I'm pretty interested though... i have good memories of Gemstone 3 and Dragonlance. And apparantly, Hero's Journey takes place in the same game world, Elanthia.

It is a very good looking game, but now-a-days I look more for game play than graphics. There are a lot of prety games out there that suck bad. I will have to keep an eye on this one though. Thanks for the info!

if i had to base the game solely on graphics (which is pretty much all we CAN base it off so far), i would have to give it a 10...

looks great, just hope it plays the same...

I spent 7 years in Simu's world of Elanthia. For a MUD it was probably the best game I ever saw or been involved in. For about 4 years! Then all of a sudden they started messing things up. They cow-tow to the high ranking players and made the game next to impossible to be a newbie in. Thank God I was mid level. But even so it was Hades to gain any ground after that.

My biggest worry with a Simu product is how they tend to infight among themselfs as leaders of the different guilds. Instead of working as a coersive team they were fragmented each guild looking for the upper hand for thier members. Plus thier idea of soon .... Well We were promised something year one of my time there it didnt come out till year 7.

BUT!!  If they can bring across thier style of invasions tp a MMORPG then I can wait years for an update. The social aspect of the game was second to none and then when a city or town gets invaded??  Guilds are standing side by side to protect thier home ground. The variety of invaders was fantastic!

Yes I am in A Simu Hate/Love relationship but thanks to this post I have bookmarked thier new game and will follow it and give them another chance.  So 2005 release? Simu time frames???  I should be right about 70 years old by then ......................

It's hard for me to get very excited about yet another fantasy game being released in the distant future when we have many good games of that genre right now and exciting titles like Mourning, Wish, and D&L arriving soon.  This new game might be great but we have no info about it and it sounds like the devs are not real interested in providing anything specific.  But those pictures do look pretty sweet.

Sweet. I thought Simutronics gave up on HJ a while back. They must've started it back up again. They're probably using the extra funds from the price raising on GSIV to help out on the project. If it's anything like the GS "series" I think it'll be a decent game - not to mention their first graphical RPG. I think they've got only one other graphical game - Cyberstrike or some such thing.

Yeah. Same thing that happens to all games after a while. You run out of ideas and you screw it up. In GS's case, they had plenty of ideas - they just weren't implemented fast enough and some of them were just plain distasteful (such as the undoing of permanent death & the significant increase in monster strength). Once GSIV came out, gone were the days of going into the valley near the Landing and owning Manticores with my halfling wizard. I had to stick to nymphs & kappas. :(  Combat was no longer exciting and fast paced - it was tedious and annoying. Oh well. I really do hope this game meets my expectations of their games in former years. Glad to see it rear its head again. image

My first online RPG was also dragons realm.  For being a MUD I haven't found a graphical RPG that made me really feel like a part of the game like DR did.  I guess I just have a vivid imagination.  I remember the nail biting, heart pounding action of just fighting a cougar just outside of town.  The first time you wander into that cave of spiders on the highway between towns was scary as all heck.

Like some of the other posters have said though, I only see pictures so far.  They look great, but will it play like the old MUDs?  Will I really get the same sence of being a part of the game, a part of the community?  Who knows.  Right now I am looking at Wish for my future gaming.  Untill I see more info about the game play and such its really hard to tell what HJ will be like.

OMG, those graphics are freaking sick... is this an mmorpg or just a single player game? im definately going to have to look into this game further, that screenshot with the elf (or whatever it is) and all the scenery just blew my mind.

Yeah. The world is the DR and GS world of Elanthia too so I'm pretty excited about seeing it more than text as in the old MUDs. The game is an MMORPG as you may have found out by now. I really do hope that this game is as in-depth as the MUDs but I seriously doubt that as usually graphical games are not. I also read that they have instancing to a degree - I just hope not to the degree of Guild Wars. I can't wait 'til Beta. I'll strangle myself if I don't get accepted. image

PS. I hope that they encourage RolePlay just as they've done in all of their games. If you're into the storyline of games and you look forward to this one, I suggest this page: http://www.play.net/gs4/info/tomes/  It has a ton of information, but I'm not certain as to how accurate it will be to this game. In the timeline I think I started playing around the year 5099 I think before the Griffin sword was shattered.

    I believe SIMU-MELISSA is Melissa Meyer - GSIV's producer (unless I'm mistaken).

    Nice finds...

I like that they're going to have alternative ruleset servers... especially a PvP server, and strict roleplaying server. Something for everyone ::::28::
