A tale of two games:
TCOS = a real breath of fresh air, with a great combat system, a potentially fascinating new lore, a great basis for factional PVP (houses), a sense of place, a delightful approach to gear (cosmetic).
WAR = great promise but weak execution, basically unoriginal combat, weak PVE, a wow-like gear grind and a disconnected world with little sense of place.
Acclaim (a company that cant get credit card payments right, and does next to no advertising) gets one, EA gets the other.
I only wish that EA's buckets of resources and marketing savvy had gone into a game like TCOS instead - it could have been spectacular.

Someone actually WANTS EA to work on their game?
I wish *somebody* with buckets of money and the will to do it would have grabbed TCOS. Love it. Imagine what it could be with frequent, content-full updates.../swoon.
I agree. What could have been...
It's too bad such a good game will likely see minimal development. I was speaking with one of the devs in-game (yeah, they do that in Spellborn) and he/she was saying that TCOS in its present incarnation isn't designed to be anyone's primary MMO. It's a fun "back up" MMO to be played when players are tired of their "main" game.
I appreciated the honesty, but I wish the situation were otherwise.
EA is not a company that tries to do something new nowadays.
They backed WAR since Mythic done DaoC before and since they wanted their own Wow. It didn't really work out but I see it better for TCoS to be their own master then having to clear everything with EA first.
Also, EAs biggest MMO hope is TOR, Bioware do have a lot of great selling games while Mythic never sold much. Mythic was between a rock and a hard place with EA on one side and Games workshop on the other.
WAR subs can still increase also if Mythic is able to make the RvR more fun. Or EA might kill them, EA is doing very bad right now.
Besides, it is a good thing that smaller companies with people who loves games still are able to make MMOs. Games like Eve, Guildwars and TCoS are proving that it is not all about money.
War is the closer clone of WOW
This is almost becoming a law of physics now for MMO companies for development and support
What does TCOS stand for?
The Chronicle of Spellborn. It is a decent game with a somewhat unique atmophere. Although I must say the skill bar does nothing but annoyed the hell out of me.
Very interesting for sure. I will have to check out TCOS I downloaded it but never played it don't know why probably got busy in another MMO.
This discussion did give me a thought about WAR though. I love/loved DAOC and wanted Mythic to hit a homer with WAR but I can only feel maybe like Obi-Wan screaming ,"But you where the chosen one..." at Darth Vader. but anyways maybe its like the movie Multiplicity with Michael Keaton and that which each WOW clone they get worse and dumber Because it will take a miracle for me to check out WAR anytime soon even with the "Darkness falls" patch. The game to me is just fundamentaly lame..from weak character customization to GCD combat and a clunky unispired engine/game. If the RVR would have been decent I would have been fine I could RVR waayyy to many hours in DAOC and still want more. WAR just seemed like "door, door, lord" over and over and over.
