an MMO to last

TorgozoTorgozo Member Posts: 25

As I posted before, I'm looking for a new MMO that I can be involved with for the long run.  For years that was WoW to me -- everything from the lore to the merch had me enthralled.  I want that kind of involvement again.  I feel like Guild Wars and EQ2 are my two runners up for this but I also feel they're seeing their last days.  Will either see an expansion again?  I wanted to believe in Warhammer but it's not really immersive, it's like a fighting game with some "quests" here and there.  It lacked polish.

I think I would sit back and wait for the new games to release at this point. There are super-hero, sci-fi, and fantasy MMO's on the way. If you absolutely have to play a MMO right now, try one of the free-to-play ones to absorb some time until the new stuff comes out. I know the feeling of wanting something new but also don't want to get into a already dated game. In my opinion though GW and EQ2 a far from their last days and both will probably still get expansions. Well good luck in your search for a new game, like I said I would just find a F2P game for right now like Runes of Magic or something.

I don't play EQ2, but as to your question about the "expansions", I really think you should do some reading outside of these forums.  It wouldn't take you long to realize that there's quite a bit of content being added to EQ2, regardless of whether the new content is classified as an "expansion."  Heck, there are even some posts here in the forums about it.

I bought Guild Wars and sort of regret it.  Something about it doesn't click.  Or maybe it's the click-to-move that doesn't click?  I just DLd the EQ2 trial and I'll see about that.  MMOs take a while to sort of "click", I know, usually about 10 levels before you can tell if you want to stick with it or not.

In some ways it seems best to come to an MMO late, as it has the kinks worked out.  But the games need people, and playing on empty Warhammer servers showed me how awful an empty MMO can be.
