just go to gamestop store or something in the mall near you and buy a box and install it if you want
or order it off the internet and the will ship cd's or maybe even dvd's to you in a couple of days so you dont have to dl them and just about every game you will have to dl patches
In the UK i have seen the full game clients for EVE, Star wars galaxies, Anarchy-online, EQ and a few others released on the covers of magazines such as PC Gamer.
I would guess pc mags from around the world do the same....
I think most MMORPGs you buy in store will save you a few days of download if you are on dial-up.
But like most MMORPGs, since they are changing all the time, once you open the box, install the CDs and start the Updates downloads. It's long.
Everquest 2, which was newly released, still had about 30 minutes worth of download. According to my friend World of warcraft had a 45 minute update. Star Wars Galaxies with the Expansion had about 45-60 minutes of update.
And I'm on Cable. So if you're on Dial-Up... hmm... Yikes!!!
You might want to ask around and re-ask your thread with the subject "Which MMORPG has the shortest update time?".
Or wait for Guild Wars. it uses a new kind of game engine that downloads only what you need when it's needed. For example, if you're just beginning, it won't start downloading patches, graphics and other stuff for Dungeons and Areas that can only be visited by High level characters. it will only start downloading those areas when you are about to walk towards those places.
All in all, all MMORPGs need updates. There's always a bug here and there that appears and needs to be fixed. And for a MMORPG to work, everyone has to have the same updated files or else you can't play with them.
