MxO down, SWG next?

They just cant shut down SWG, I dont want my wookie to die NOOOOOOO!!!!!!

    It'll probably be shut down shortly after TOR is released.  No big loss.

    PlanetSide would most likely be next if any.

    SWG has the card game, Vanguard has the RMT..

    At this point I think they are just keeping SWG open to spite the vets.

    I agree that Planetside is proabably the next to be axed. SWG will be following the same fate when most of the playerbase jumps ship for TOR (when it releases) which leaves the SWG and its TCG Lotto scam dead in the water. You have to have actual players to fleece for the TCG to be significantly profitable.

    I think Vanguard will get closed down before planetside a few reasons.

    1. It was not created by soe, so it will not be a significant black eye as shutting down a game they created
    2. Vanguard developers will have mmo experience that will directly translate to whatever project they are reassigned to
    3. Vanguard takes far more resources to update than planetside.
    4. Planetside effectively needs no updates, it can linger on as a station pass offering that people can jump in for an hour or so.
    5. Soe has already shown on several occasions that they want people to migrate to eq2.  They already have 2 other fantasy mmos that are more popular.  Vanguard is effectively the same as running 2 codes bases with one being played by only 10% of the bigger one.
    6. I really doubt the station exchange for vanguard makes much money.  I suspect it was done just for market research to fine tune free realms. 

    In the end I think they could just leave planetside as it is without really supporting it.  It takes no real effort to ignore the game and let people keep fighting each other.

     

    As long as it has some value as a station pass addition and the agency doesn't attract enough of those players when it releases, there really isn't much reason to kill it even though it is closer to death than vanguard.

    I don't want nge to shut down. It's a source of possible new content for precu servers.

    btw, when is tor set to release?
