Darkfall: Siege Incident Reassurances

SzarkSzark News ManagerMember Posts: 4,420

The folks at Darkfall have posted reassurances to players after an ill timed server crash at the end of a city siege put the results of that siege into question.

Last night, after a siege was concluded, there was a server crash due to an unrelated issue. This created a rare condition where the city ownership change was not fully saved by all storage subsystems.

Any such inconsistency in the data is automatically corrected by the system during the scheduled maintenance window which unfortunately happens to be several hours after the fact. We've checked and we see that the siege results will be saved during the scheduled maintenance. While this kind of automatic correction happens for all things to maintain the stability of the system, this happens to be a major event and we feel obligated to inform the interested parties: City ownership will be automatically finalized during the data consistency checks within the scheduled maintenance window. This means that the city will be owned by the winner of the challenge.

lol - They should have just mentioned that they were looking in to it, as soon as all the threads were popping out on the official forum... They need to get a better relationship to their subs, i didnt like that they dont take their time to talk to people, and let them know whats up, that was 1 of many factors that got me to leave.

Funny how one letter can change "Darkfall" into "Darkfail."

Do folks still play this game?  I think we should put a poll up, and see how long till Darkfail joins Tabula Rasa and the Matrix Online.

Game is still in beta and will be for a while.  You expect problems like this in a beta.

Of course, it might never make it out of the beta stage too...

Funny was that, when roll back happend people where whining that that clan in question unfairly lost a city. The Devs give the city back to winning clan, guess what happens? yep, now they complain at the Devs for giving thr city back. Just shows some people in this world desrve to be shot on sight.

Also, the game is pretty fun. The reason you hear bad things about it is the vocal minority that is hellbent on critisizing the game because it didn turn out to be the way they wanted it to and it pains them. There is a psychological condition to describe this behaviour but i forget the name now.

This statement is old news on the DF forum. Been up for a while.  So its Aventurines fault of some people fail in looking there to get information.

Almost as some people need to get some kind of PR person to give them information from websites : )

Use less hacks and this would not happen!

The crash and rollback happened same time when three of cotc's cities came under siege...coincedence? I think not!

COTC is same alliance that turned mercs ship in to a flying dutchman when they were about to lose their city.
