I gotta ask one thing before I comment. Do you work for the devs at D&L?
But yep, that looks great.
I have a feeling D&L will have a lot of little features that'll add to the game. And it'd have my money. But Darkfall is going to be the game for me. Just love open PvP. Now...I'd think of getting D&L if it came out a couple months before or if it had a open PvP server. But now i'm ranting.
I'm sure people will have fun with this game. It looks to get away from the monotony and normality of all these EQ clones. And kudos to them. Alot of good PvP games seem to be coming out in the next 12 months, 05 is a year to look forward too.

Why do you ask whether I work for the Devs?... Interesting question... but the answer is no!
I like you are probably not interested in what's been done before, I like original ideas, I like a big World to explore, I like doing things in game that have an element of adventure in them. I do like the look of Darkfall as well btw.
Dark and Light was just this curiosity for me when I first saw it, but has grown on me day by day. I also enjoy giving people the facts on any subject (Its my job in RL). Finding out about DnL is like revealing a mystery, so little is known about this game, but a colourful picture is slowly being pieced together, enticing myself and others further to know more.

Can you come up with ONE idea how this could be useful in PvP, when this same PvP includes taking over fortress towns and large tracks of land? (if you are the practical type)
Can you see what new fun game elements could be possible just because it can be done? (if you are the spontaneous type)
Oh I can see the tactical benfits of vertical assualt and the gameplay benfits of "Wow its realy BIG up here", but I'm sorry parachuting dragon riders is just plain silly. I'm all for reality in these games and there is a reason why nobody has ever tried sky diving in a suit of plate maile complete with battle regalia. I'm sorry but its all too silly for words. I like the idea of riding a dragon, what fantasy role player doesn't? But there comes a point where fantasy slides over the edge of sanity into silliness and this game seems to have dissappeared over the precipice of "oh come ON!"

Wow more silly than shooting fireballs at each other? Or fighting Dragons & Trolls? Or our participation in a virtual fantasy world of magic with endless youthful lives? Or of us being great Elven warrior heroes, and wise powerful Orc mages? More silly than that?
Looks as though you got to a level of silliness a long time ago, got use to that new "reality" whyll still quite young and pliable, then got old, and now find new forms of "silliness" to be too hard to swallow.
PS: Sorry to be making fun of you, but I just find it strange that you used the word "silly" to critise a "fantasy" game...
PPS: These games should be about FUN!!!

The more i see DnL the more impressed i am with it.
Mainly because it seems to be an innovative mmorpg which is something lacking in the 2 biggies atm WoW and EQ2.
Granted WoW and EQ2 are good games but honestly as far as innovative goes WoW scores a 0/10 for me and EQ2 scores 1/10.
So lets see what DnL has to offer.I think i buy it and try.
Magic is part of the game Reality and therefore you accept it as real. Its a classic trick to get the reader/viewer/player to accept a premise which is frankly ludicrous as being believable, and to hold true to that premise to enforce a level of believability. Magic exists in the game and it works in this way and this way only, therefore its real in the game.
I just find the idea of airborn, dragon flying, plate maile wearing, paratrooper infantry units a bit bizzare (can I say bizzare, is it better than silly?) even for a fantasy based game.
Sorry to be a stick in the mud but it is... well ... silly. Look if its any concillation I find the rastafarian trolls in World of Warcraft a bit on the silly side too.
Like I said, I'm getting old.

I too am getting really excited about this game as I am find out more about it. But I am with the other guy here, parachuting off dragons is a bit much and if you can do it in plate armor would be downright silly. Other then that this game looks awesome.
Still pretty nice graphics scene there....dont know how useful or "fun" it would be as part of a game...but its defiantely somthing to watch and awe at the first time...
Cant say I was all that thrilled with the new EQ and WoW either...tried both for a short period of time...at the moment im in the SWG MMO, and still having fun after over a year of play.
Now there is a game where the parachuting (while it would have little tactical meaning as the game is now) could be not only some fun but believeable as well considering its a space-age fantasy setting.

Couldn't agree more, rolled one to be my main char... Well I wanted to play a troll not a rastafari.
WoW doesn't introduce anything really new, but it implements all the right ideas in a fun way. I think in a nutshell (better Graphics)*(EQ+DAOC)=WoW, which to me isn't a bad thing at all.
On Dark and Light, it is getting a little too much for me as well.

Snowboarding knights isn't rediculous at all, i'm sure they did it in the olden days.
Think about it, your on top of a big hill.... With a kite in your hand. I'm sure they did a little bit of experimenting.
Anyways, back on topic... I can't wait to try DnL, is there any word on an open beta?
I like the video. It looks like a huge world. I don't anything about D&L at this point but the world looks realistic compared to WoW's world. Azeroth is incredibly tiny in comparison, and I already feel claustrophobic in it.

Does the music play why you are skydiving, snowboarding, hand gliding, and riding giant dragons and/or birds? I second the person that said the game looks huge, but is that a good thing? I personally consider it a major drawback if it takes more then 5 hours to get from point A to B, especially in a game as under-advertised as DnL. Mose of that empty-ness is going to stay empty. But all that aside, the dragons fire-breath....... YAY!
