He told me, that aslong as you have Silk in your account, you won't be banned. If you bot, aslong as you keep Silk in your account, you won't be banned when you're caught. Joymax only ban free players for botting (which basically just targets the gold selling companies).
Can't believe it's took people this long to realise it...
SilkRoad, I admit, I personally think it's quite a good game. Sorry to say, but if you're going to play, buy some Slik and bot. If botting isn't your thing, then SilkRoad isn't for you I suppose.
It's a shame how Joymax handles their game, but that's the reality of SilkRoad I'm afraid.

Anyone who believes FTP is actually free needs to realize NOTHING is free. Any company making a game needs profit off it or the game isn't going to exist. FTP is a scam to fool people into playing then hold the piece of cheese in front of them to buy. EVERY game needs to generate profit to exist!
I will take monthly subs ANYDAY over the dishonest shadey tactics FTP is. Let me know the cost upfront and honest.

It's in their EULA that they won't delete your account if you've bought silk. IMO it's somewhat a shame that they use this rule for botting as well...
I've had this discussion with Lineage II botters as well... What's the use of botting..? You only level up fast to get a high level and when you have it you PvP. If you only want to PvP and not actually play the game, you'd better play Unreal Tournament or "play" an MMO that doesn't have a grind like SRO / L2...
It's not about "if botting is your thing". It's about mentality. If you don't want to actually play a game and only PvP, then the game is nothing for you. Just don't turn things around!
I have wanted to try silkroad for a whle since I always hear good things about it. - I never did because I also heard about the bot problem they have and the huge cost of evrything now that there are so many bots. I wish more companies would enforce their own TOS even if it cost them paying customers. Good luck on your boycott.
I ended up trying perfect world instead and liked it a lot. I don't have the free time to play any mmos like I use to, but I played PW for a few months pretty heavily and I never witnessed any obvious botters.
Maybe you should give that game a try.
It's got tons of stuff to do, lots of quests ,and it looks like a p2p mmo as far as nice looking graphics. Out of all the f2p mmos I have tried, it's 1 that I would actually recommend as being worth the time to play.
I've been reading the posts since the announcement of the change in leadership of this boycott.
Shohadaku, there are F2P games that are on the level as far as cost is concerned. A huge majority of them also don't have the problems of lack of support or mass infestation of botters that this game currently has. As an old, but apt, saying goes, Don't let this bad apple spoil the barrelful.
iamspamicus: I play over at PWI myself. My home server is Heaven's Tear. It's a game that's a prime example of the potential that iSRO could reach: honest, no botters, no RMTers, great content and graphics. I say, if a F2P like PWI can do it, we can do the same and work to get rid of the bots.
Thrage: I definitely appreciate your support. RamenThief7 is right: This is a problem that not only affects Silkroad Online players and hopefuls, this affects each and every MMORPG gamer, even the ones on the other games.
I am well aware of further comments, like how only a small percentage of the ppl that play SRO also reads forums. While that may be true, it's no reason (or excuse) to not get the word out to the other players. Back before forums and such existed, there was a very good way to get the word out to other people. Yeah it may seem relatively antiquated, but it's one that still works.
It's called "word-of-mouth".
Those of you that still play this game, spread the message to your fellow players in-game about the boycott. Those that don't play this game can still use not only forums, but also IMs, e-mails, stuff like Skype /and/ word-of-mouth.
I noticed that Nightbloom hasn't answered a question I posted in the main branch of the boycott. Just to make sure he gets it, I'll paraphrase it here, too.
Sure, there are folks that subscribe to the concept of "It's 1 in 10,000 games, go elsewhere" or "The game's dead, get out of it" and run from a game because of the bots. There's another side to that that a lot of people miss:...until the game you ran to gets infested with bots, and you run to the next one. I wonder, what happens when us legits run out of games to get away from bots? Where do we run to then?
Let's see the Correspondent of Silkroad Online answer that.
I also used to play SRO but belive me theres alot better out there the compagny simply doesnt care about the bots or their players. Another problem that wasnt mentioned is the buyers if there were fewer of them botting wouldnt be as profitable , why do poeple play a game if its only to have their character leveled for them ? thats beyond me but ive had enough of SRO when literaly sea's of botters flooded almost every area. Shaiya although it has its flaws is also good with good community PWI is also pretty good up to a certain point the grinding doesnt get bad until the 80's (max lvl is 105).
I've sent an e-mail to a very influencial person in the MMORPG world, explaining our situation and asking him for his help with the boycott. He's rather high up in the IGN's RPG vault staff. If I get a response, I will post it here and on this site's SRO forums.
Although if he does help us, it's liable to be across the bandwaves.
Please, keep spreading the word of this boycott and try to get more people on board. Forums isn't the only way, word-of-mouth is always good too! Also, if anyone has any ideas as to more influencial people to contact, please PM me.

It is a pretty good game ,believe it or not.It has a good PVE,PVP mix.The quests and content is nothing great, but it gives you something to do that is fast paced and sort of easy to grasp the concept. You do not have to wait long to get a job as a thief or hunter[level 20],you can do trade routes or whatever.
The problem with the game is botting,by miles the worst botting i have ever seen in any game.It would be near impossible for any game to have as many bots as SRO because the bot to player ratio is about 10-1,actually what the heck i am i saying MUCH higher like probably 20/30 -1.Everywhere i have gone i nthe game ,there is so many bots that you can hardly get a kill in they run in swarms.I see VERY few players in the field, yet at any given time i would see 15/20/30 bots and i was the only player around.
When i wander out to do a quest,i would say i see on average 1-10 actual players ,the other 3/4/500 i see are all bots.
what makes it worse is that 99% of the high level players all botted to get there. Then allthey do is sit around with their return warp scrolls and warp to the BOSSES when they spawn.I actually doubt there is ONE max level player that did not cheat or bot to get there,i plan on being the first
Never forget 3 mile Island and never trust a government official or company spokesman.
When I initially started the boycott, I have hoped that somehow, it would instantly destroy the bots when it started to gain recognition, and I also thought Silkroad Online was one of the few games out there that allowed bots. But, then I discovered that there were other games too that died a long time ago because of bots.
In a way, this boycott has evolved. It's not only to get rid of bots from Silkroad Online, it is a representation of how legit gamers hate bots and will unite to try to end them.
Many people probably get confused by this, but the whole part of the boycott was to end botting in general. It was to show all companies out there that gamers will not admit defeat and ignore the bot problem (and that game with the legal bot system? well, there's a reason why it's probably not super popular at all right now).
I'm going to try to start another thread later on dealing with how bots come into games in the first place, and why companies use them, as well as why they should stop using them.
Until then, continue to fight to end all bots in general!!!
I support this idea even though I am not a player of Silkroad Online. I tried to play it about a month ago but it was impossible since all of the servers were full and every time I got the message that the server is full, I got booted out of the game rather than throwing me back to the lobby screen. It's a rather unusual case what Joymax is doing since new players don't have a chance to try the game out and 24/7 botters probably don't even spend their money since they are botters, they make their money by farming in the game and then selling those profits to other players that of course hurts Joymax in the long run.

So, you're trying to boycott users buying ingame currency and such in a hope that it puts a major decline in their profit and they are forced to take action against the bots. But if the game is really infested by bots that much that I don't think you're going to make a big enough dent in their pocket to bother them, most of those botters probably buy the currency and such as well. I read a few replies up that it was even in their EULA that accounts who had bought silk wouldn't be banned.
So, if there's 100 people playing, and 10 of you boycott it, but those other 90 botters are still purchasing the goods, I don't think they're really going to care. It would seem to me you're just making your time while playing more difficult by not purchasing the RMT stuff.
I don't support bots at all, and like your idea, I just have a hard time believing that with all the effort you're putting in that it's actually going to go anywhere. It's their product, they run it how they see fit as long as they're making a profit, and you continue to play it. I believe their attitude is probably that if you don't like it, you can move on. Not saying that's the right attitude to have, but it's probably the one they do carry around.
It just seems the botters that purchase the silk, or whatever, outnumber the people who want care. At least in the cast of SRO, which is notorious for the amount of botters there.
Interesting action this is, I don't like this "all F2P gamers must support it" though, I play both F2P and P2P games although I have no interest in Silkroad currently. It would be better "all MMO gamers must support it".
Just showing my opinion that it is a nice action, although developers probably won't do anything if they still haven't done so after the community provided constant feedback against bots and illegal RMTs.
This is a true problem F2P games face - Bots. Nothing stops them from running rampant - account creation is free and probably easily automated, ban one and there is another one underway. IP bans won't be effective against them.
While there are plenty of P2P games that have a better handle on the bots situation, I heard from an experienced gamer (my brother has been gaming since Diablo 1 when it first came out) that there are games with a bad problem. Plus, what's to stop the bot companies from expanding from the F2P to the P2P?
From now on, I will expand the boycott to encompass all MMORPGers, P2P and F2Ps alike. I suggest that the boycott supporters take this moderation in mind and spead the word even further.
If there are other influential people in the industry that would be willing to lend us an ear (or pen), please let me know on PM or on here.
There is an announcement i must make, on the next post.
Since my last post couldn't be deleted, I'm changing it instead. If you saw it, please disregard it and accept my apologies.
Even I am human.
Even though the lack of access may have turned out to be computer error, it did bring to light one thing: it is possible that at some time, Joymax may see this boycott as enough of a threat to ban any accounts involved.
I wanted to bring that to your attention.
Although it might not seem relevant, there is a woman in California that spoke out for her beliefs. She's caught a lot of flak for it and it nearly cost her her position. She's stuck to her guns, nonetheless.
That woman is Carrie Prejean. She said in a conference towards people that speak up for their beliefs, "Do not be silenced."
Here, I say in regards to Joymax's actions, do not be silenced!
Sorry this hasn't been updated lately, RL has gotten in the way.
Today I have some news and information you might find of interest,
First off, according to the official iSRO forum, the President and Founder of Joymax died sometime last month. News of this is on the kSRO site as well. This is a good time to see just who will be replacing him as the President and to encourage him to do the right thing where Silkroad Online is concerned.
Second, it's come to my attention, from the same source, that while SRO has been using the GameGuard logo, they are NOT using the GG program at all. One of the players has brought this to nProtect's attention and that company is now investigating Joymax. Below this paragraph is a link that serves as proof of this bit of news. nProtect has stated that they want to hear from other SRO players about the bot situation over there, so e-mail them with your comments (constructive) and screenshots of the bots.
As you all know, Joymax has a bad habit of deleting the truth, so hurry to the link and read the thread.
Now, for the main gig.
As everyone also knows, Joymax has been deleting any and all posts involving their own contact information. I've gained, through an anonymous source, not only the name and contact of the Global sales Manager but also for the company in Korea.
