Wish: Beta Download Coming To FilePlanet

AdminAdmin Administrator RarePosts: 5,623

Mutable Realms made the following news announcement today regarding the download and timeline of the open beta:

Mutable Realms, Inc., is pleased to announce that FilePlanet will host the Wish Beta 2.0 download.

Wish is the first Ultra Massive Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game (UMMORPG(tm)), with tens of thousand of simultaneous players in a single world, without any zones or "shards". With Wish's single-world approach, Mutable Realms employs a dedicated Live Story Team whose singular purpose is to keep the game story moving forward, providing a fresh gaming experience for our users each time they play.

"Given the solid reputation of Wish's previous open beta last year, we are looking forward to our upcoming partnership with Mutable Realms," said Wouter Ryckbosch, Associate Editor of the Vault Network. "We are thrilled that our network will play a part in the development of this highly promising title and hope that our visitors will share this enthusiasm for helping Wish improve by means of play testing. Fresh and innovative games such as Wish keep the market healthy and we believe it is very important for us to actively have a hand in this by partnering with Mutable Realms to help host their newest open beta. Meanwhile our visitors get the chance to try out the game months before release, while being able to have their voice heard in the development process."

"We are very pleased that FilePlanet agreed to host our Wish Beta 2.0 Client on their powerful server network," said Marc Laukien, President of Mutable Realms. "So far, about 40,000 testers have signed up for our beta test, which means a lot of download traffic, in particular during the first days of January. With FilePlanet's help, we will be able to provide a hassle-free download for such a large number of players."

Beta 2.0 is scheduled to start on January 1, 2005. Testers will be able to download the game client at the end of December. There will be no fee for downloading the game client.

Thats a pretty small number.. I thought it as more popular than that.

No it isn't. EVE online has more than 10,000 players in one world.

Well I was in the Wish beta earlier in the year and I do hope I'm not expected to pay for a fileplanet sub just to be able to test for this stage of the beta.

There are 29k signed up for your beloved Mourning. That's an even smaller number. I thought there would be more than that.

Nothing like taking the quote out of context. Convenient to leave off the rest "with tens of thousand of simultaneous players in a single world, without any zones or "shards". EVE has zones.

And once again you'd be wrong and lose that bet.

It's free. Free free. Do not have to pay to subscribe to D/L.

You seem to mention Mourning a lot when no one else does. You must like it. Or maybe your just upset WISH doesn't look as good?  Either way your a fool anyhow because Mourning has over 100k people registered as beta testers since they put up registration.

And considering they have almost 30k (and get over 100 new people per day) registered on their forums I think it's safe to assume its way more popular.

Wish don't even have official forums. Whats up with that?

You want to know the REAL reason why WISH only has 40k testers signed up?  Because everyone is off playing EQ2 and WoW and don't give a crap about Wish. Sorry to burst your bubble.

and you seriously think that makes any difference. image

And what is your obvious obsession with Wish? You hate it so much why? Because it's more popular than Mourning? SO much so you have to start multiple account and go around smashing it? Talk about obssessed.

100,000 signed up for their beta? Wow. THat's great.

Too bad the first question on their beta application is [i]Forum Name[/b] and Forum Password...so it's IMPOSSIBLE for 100,000 to be signed up, jackass....only 29,000 can POSSIBLY be signed up for it. Straight from the Beta application:

By filling out this beta test application you will also create a user name on Mourning's forums. No L337 board names please, they will be deleted without warning (and the beta applications associated with them also)!
So the MOST they could have are the number of accounts on their boards.

Nice try though. You were only about 70,000 off on your bluff.

So it's safe to say it's way more popular? Ah ok, you have to make up numbers for that to be true. Even on this site, even with your multiple accounts (when do we get to see studiobaker post?) pumping up it's hype, there are still less people hyping it. There are still less posts, less threads, less activity. Fairly strange for such a popular game, wouldnt you say?

fact of the matter (at the moment) is that mourning is the only MMORPG that has announced their unique features without any contenders (stolen ideas, etc.). I have yet to see any MMORPG in development or will be released that can compare with what Mourning provides in terms of new gameplay. image

Well, first off, the only reason I'm even interested in is because of original ideas. I've yet to see any MMOG try to do anything even close to their Live Content idea.

Secondly, this is a Wish announcement :)

And lastly, yes, the FilePlanet will be free. No subscription necessary. No fee necessary. Absolutely, 100% free.::::28::
