"Install info unable to download" FIX (NA client)

in Aion

Quick Fix for US, I don't know if there is any difference between the two... thank you guy who posted the ip address.

Open: C:Program FilesNCSoftLauncherConfigExtensionsAion InternalGamesGames.xml

Find:

[code]

<ServerRoot>http://aion.patcher.ncsoft.com/Aion/Main/</ServerRoot>;

[/code]

change to:

[code]

<ServerRoot>http://206.127.148.84/Aion/Main/</ServerRoot>;

[/code]

There are 2 Games.xml files. Close launcher, Be sure to edit the Games.xml file that is in the EXTENSIONS, save, reboot launcher.

EDIT: supposedly this will only work if the reason you cannot begin DLing is due to a DNS issue.

    After close to 3 hours of trying to start the download, I applied the fix and instantly started downloading.

    I'd also like to note: if you want to store a copy of the original Games.xml file somewhere, make sure you move it out of the Games folder; the NCsoft launcher gives an error otherwise.

    Anyone know which server this plays on? is it one of the Chinese servers or located in the US or EU?

    Curious how much lag I will be seeing.

    NA as far as I know. It's version 1.0.2.10 if that is any indication.

    supposedly it works only if the issue is being caused by DNS error.

    Aye, thanks. This seem to got my d/l started. Going on a healthy 400kb/s, will be done in ~3hr 30m.

    MMOs Played: I can no longer list them all in the 500 character limit.

    Please, my friends and I let us look for the address for the EU waiter(server), we tried for the US version, your address ip walks(works) perfectly, except for us I think that we need the EU address

    You might be able to find it in the XML file.

     

    I noticed if you keep "find next" through that file at least for the us version.. there are a lot of remark notes.  One set actually list the dns address in the OP and another set list the original version as remarks...   So they may have the localized dns in your xml file ... or they may not.

    Thanks seems to have worked.  It started downloading but I have no idea how long it will take. The launcher doesnt have a bar to tell me how long. So I guess I wait huh.  Or does any of you know how to have a bar showing on the launcher?

    Didn't help me. Running Windows 7. Game developers better get off their asses and start coding crap like this right, WIndows 7 releases in 4 months.

    Quite frankly, it's not our job to try to make this shit work. NCsoft wants people to play, then they need to learn to make a proper bit of code that works without having to edit shit..

    Well umm, DAMN!

    I got to 30% then for some reason it just reset itself and started back at 0%... WTF!
