To Those Who Got Beta Keys

spector75spector75 Member UncommonPosts: 168

For anyone who got Beta keys from MMORPG.com this is a tid bit of info that might be important to all of us. This was apart of an e-mail that was sent to those people who were chosen for beta due to contests or Tabula Rasa closing down. There is little to no reason to think this doesn't apply to us as well.

"Congratulations! You are invited to the Aion closed beta. A closed beta is an event open only to a very limited number of participants. NCsoft would like you to be one of the first to experience the incredible world of Aion.

The first Aion beta event, which begins after E3 2009, opens June 5, 2009 and runs through June 7, 2009. In this first event, beta testers will play Aion as the Elyos, who occupy the bottom half of Atreia, known as Elysea.

Participating in this initial event means you will automatically be invited to all following Beta Events, so be sure to join the action and discover the adventures that await you! Keep up-to-date by visiting our Beta forums (http://betaboards.aiononline.com, which will open on June 4th, 2009."

I put this in another thread, but thought it would be easier seen if it was in its own. I really do hope this goes for all of us, if it does, congrats to all those who did get the keys. If not.... well hell nothing really lost i suppose.

It says flat out in the MMORPG key page that the keys are only good for this weekend. If you got them elsewhere, then yeah, its a regular key and you have access to all of them. If its from MMORPG, this weekend is all the key gets you. Simple as that.

Bans a perma, but so are sigs in necro posts.

It WOULD be as simple as that, had Ayase himself not said the initial batch of keys would likely be applied to all betas as a thank you for the testers helping them. He did also add this would apply to the over seas sites as well as any others. Given he did post this before MMORPG got theres, but the contests on all the websites read the exact same as this one.

That is why i felt this info would be good to come forward, the info posted and the way it "Looks" to be happening Might differ and people should know there is a CHANCE that they will get more then they hoped for. Again i do not know 100% if this is going to apply to this site, but since it applies to all the others i figure it might.

Edit: On a side note i sent a PM to Ayase asking if he might clear this up for us, Small chance in hell he will respond but if he does i will update this post.

Why do NCsoft west designers suck so much :c specially considering how good they are in Korea.

    That teaser site looks terrible.

Lets hope the OP is correct, First event keys last forever, and anyone that comes later gets the 'one-weekend only' passes, would make me SO happy.

And the exact reason MMORPG.com posted this:

NOTE: These keys are weekend-only event keys. These keys provide access to only the June 5 through June 7, 2009 weekend beta event. If you want guaranteed access to all future Aion beta events, preorder Aion starting on June 9, 2009. All preorders come with access to all beta events (closed and open) in addition to a bunch of exclusive digital in-game items, head-start access, and more.

The keys this site got are different, hence the NOTE. I'm almost 100% sure they were told this by NCSoft word for word so there would be no confusion.

Shame. Ah well, if the closed beta is any good this weekend I might preorder it anyway.

Well, if I can get this to work on Parallels (I use a Mac) i'll definitely preorder, if not I guess I'll re-partition my HD and play like that. I don't really want to partition if I don't have to though. Almost 75% sure i'll be preordering it either way.

Well if your one of the few that has a beta key and enjoys what the beta this weekend brings then just preorder Aion and play the other betas...

  • Excuse me Everbody

I want to key test AION. Everybody help me plz......!

To me this whole beta key mess really seems to poop on those of us who pre-ordered and have not been able to get a key from our pre-order vendor. I have preorders in through gamestop brick and morter, gamestop online, and amazon.com. None of them have keys (in my area), and I stop by the store everyday since its on my way to and from work. It just seems that NCsoft will give away keys willy nilly but those of us who have put our money down get pushed to the side and told to wait for later beta phases while everyone who sits and F5 there lives away get a key for this weekend.

Not that I am QQ about this, but it just doesn't seem like a good way to start a relationship with your future customers by pushing them aside as far as this weekend goes.

I think you have to look at this weekend for what it is,It is basically for people to have a look at the game and so more will pre-order so they can get in all the future events, the online pre-order dont get there keys until the 16th+/- by email,I think gamestop have been giving away keys in store but it was always listed"while stocks last"

This contest on mmorpg.com only gets you into this weekends test and not the future events that with the pre-order you get into them all,I have waited long enough for Aion so another couple of weeks wont kill me before I play.

If someone had came up to me in 1980 when I was on my Atari 2600 and said we will be playing games with thousands of people at the same time.I guess my response would have been,"but I only have 2 joysticks"

Oh I agree it won't kill me as well, still leveling up my last character slot on WAR atm. My gamestop doesn't even carry PC games on the shelf, and the manager has yet to see anything with AION on it or in his electronic inventory (In fact he believes that they will not recieve any since he has no shipments on track with any pc promotion products). As a former employee this kinda saddens me, but that is another topic. I understand NCsoft wants to expand its number or preorders and hype with this weekend, but it shouldn't be closed off to those who have already preordered their product though. You don't push aside all your clients to go get more clients in business if you wish to expand your client base (you should at least give both groups equal treatment, but I understand that now-a-days this isnt holding true so much in the business world, as the potential client is becoming more important that the current clients...)

Grats to all who got keys...........Just a pity that for UK folks this happened in the early morning and shame on those from the US that took EU beta keys.

But hey let us all know how it goes, i will be here waiting :(

Oh and if any one got more than one key and wants to share please consider me :)

"The wait is almost over! MMORPG.com is giving away 5,000 Aion closed beta keys. The first Aion closed beta event is this weekend. It starts Friday, June 5, 2009 at noon PT and ends at midnight Sunday night, June 7, 2009."

This is taken from the announcement page.  This speaks of the first closed beta event, which could indicate that there will be other closed beta events as well.  The above quote does say "if you want guaranteed access to all future Aion beta events, Preorder Aion...", however that does not necessarily mean that the keys we were given will not work for other events.
