It looks like you're new here. If you want to get involved, click one of these buttons!
Hi All,
I played AION on a Chinese server for a bit and have a question. In games like WoW and first person shooters you can click the left mouse key and look around without changing the orientation of your character. Aion left button was a click to move, when i disabled this feature in the options the left mouse key did nothing. I found during my short time playing AION that I could not "look around". The resulting "stiff neck" made me stop turn my character to the right in order to see what is there, then turn left again in order to continue moving in my original direction. If this is the case I'm not sure I like this setup, it would really suck during pvp where you need to keep looking over your shoulders to keep up to date of your surroundings.
Can anyone clarify this for me?
Thanks.

you can bind those keys to anything you want.

I've complained about this before and I really hope NCSoft "fixes" it. In the meantime, what you can do is hold down the shift key and the right mouse button to enter mouselook mode; however, that is hardly a solution for someone who often uses combinations of SHIFT+ and ALT+ hotkeys. I cannot begin to fathom why a basic function like this was left out, apart from the possiblity that most Asian players must prefer the click-to-move option, to the extent where they just didn't bother giving the left mouse button another function if you happen to detest click-to-move.
just use the right mouse button.
The right mouse button is for navigating your avatar, though. As of right now, there is no exclusive binding for the sole purpose of mouselook, other than holding SHIFT+RMB.
Not completely correct:
You can use your middle mouse button for mouse look, it works the same way, it's only a little bit less logical for us because we're used to the left mouse button for that.
You're welcome ;-)
(I really hope that I'm not wrong now )

You're absolutely correct, you can use the middle mouse button to look around. However, if you press the jump key, your character will jump in the direction your camera is facing and not in the direction your character is moving, which gets kind of annoying and is simply silly.
The problem I have with the camera is there is currently no way to bind a key to camera movement. So used to being able to use hotkeys to lower or raise the camera angle when you move up and down slopes. This really needs to be added. Lord of the rings online does this extremely well. Even WoW has this although it's a basic version of it.

Does Aion have WASD? I hate point-n-click. If it has point-n-click without a WASD option, I won't even bother with it.
When we get back from where we are going, we will return to where we were. I know people there!
Yes it does and the keys can all be remapped easily.

It has both WASD and click to move. There is one part that bothers me though. When you click on an enemy to attack, you start to automatically run towards them.

can that be turned off in the options?, i hate that kinda crap
If there is a way, I haven't found it yet.
Thanks to all for the information seems like I will be reprograming the mouse for this game. I just need to remember when I'm standing at the edge of a cliff looking to my right at the long drop into molten lava while trying to jump onto a rock in front of me f or a better view....deploy the wings, lol.
Does anyone have information regarding the games ability to utilize all cores of the processor? Also is the game optimized for crossfire?

You can turn it off, it's in the options area, disable move to target, or something similar.

You're right! I found it. Now it feels less like an Asian grinder.
Thanks!
