Great Giveaway Mmorpg! Look we can buy your keys back!

I found 4 sites already, around 10 users, -each- selling dozens of keys.  Just use google to find them, for some reason they even show up as the first hits zomg.
Oh here, because some people still will yell *fake*, here is one link to these willy-aqua-rosas :

<Mod edit>
Screw that. And yes we also blame the dealer on this one, not just those greedy lowlives that rmt beta access keys.
I just called several game centers here, no preorder kit available around here. So yeah put them codes up in the middle of the EU night, people with normal lives on weekdays are excused out of betas this way, unless we buy them back from these idiots.
Thanks again!! gg!  gg!

What are you crying about. The AION beta key giveaways is for 3 day beta testing only..sheesh you must be desperate for entertainment this weekend

  • SwaneaSwanea Member UncommonPosts: 2,401

Funny part is, people will pay more for these weekend keys than the entire cost of the game, rather than go to gamestop and preorder the game for 5 bucks and get a beta card looool!

Problem is that the OP is right.

MMORPG.com needs to change it's policy when it comes to these Give Aways.

    1. For people to participate they need to have an account that is at least 1 month old.

    2. People need to be an active member of the community. (like made at least 10 posts or so or average number of posts a month). They have to log in regularly. An account that has been inactive for more then 2 weeks or month is not eglible. That sorta thing.

    3. EU Give Aways. Put them up during EU Primetime, seperate from US Give Aways. Not when whole Europe is asleep!

That would prevent a lot of cheating and at least put some barrier up against these low lives. So they can't just quickly spam create accounts and hijack all the keys. Wich is what has clearly happened yesterday with the Aion keys!

    Cheers

They won't do that. "Contests" bring people making accounts, which means more "subscribers", which means more bucks from advertisers to advertise on a "high traffic" site.

-Letting Derek Smart work on your game is like letting Osama bin Laden work in the White House. Something will burn.-
-And on the 8th day, man created God.-

They don't bring in more people. They are not subscribers.

They just spam create accounts every time there is such a contest. Just to farm keys from the site. And then they are gone just as quickly as they came.

So they don't add anything to this site. They don't clicky clicky on Adds. They don't do anything for MMORPG.com. Other then to piss off their loyal subscribers.

    Cheers

So we divert traffic to that dirty little cheater site? That doesn't solve the problem, you're probably boosting his sales.

So you say they should count out user like me. I come here every day, read forum, articles, I just don't post. Your policy would make me to write "Nice/You are right/You are clueless" 10 times per month. Forum is not all there is here.

Sorry but the OP has a point as does gullermo,

You on the other hand Kat do not, dont you think it is a bit unfair to start a EU giveaway at 4 am? I mean not very many ppl in the EU are awake.

If you look around the gaming sites now you will see ppl trying to trade the EU keys they got for NA one's.

Also with regards to rules for ppl getting the keys if you check back on gaming sites all you can see is..

"thanks op just making an account now at mmorpg to get a key"

"nice 1 made account got a key" etc etc

Also there are others "I got 3 keys from mmorpg.com" and even "I got 7 keys from mmorpg.com and I am selling some of them"

I feel a bit miffed as I missed the last EU key by 10 mins and seeing these posts do p1ss me off as I am on this site alot of times during the day and missed out to alot of ppl that are never here and also from people that wont even use the key when all is said and done.

If someone had came up to me in 1980 when I was on my Atari 2600 and said we will be playing games with thousands of people at the same time.I guess my response would have been,"but I only have 2 joysticks"

You just nitpicking on an example I made. User activity can also be messured on logging in and reading articles.

You don't nessessary have to post. That was just an example.

Such messures will at least stop these low lives from spam creating accounts here just to farm keys.

    Cheers

  • wesjrwesjr Member UncommonPosts: 506

He is not nit picking, I am like him I come here pretty much everyday BUT unless I want to reply to a thread (like this one) I do not log in.

As you can see I have been a member a long time, but needed to make x amount of post (read:Spam) is not a good way of doing it.

On the other hand, you idea of an account for 10 days is not too bad.  I like Ten Ton Hammers take on "Premium" members for contest.
