O-M-F-G. I just lost 150m ISK worth of cargo.

leshtricityleshtricity Member, Newbie CommonPosts: 231

SO. I joined this 0.0 corp. Headed out there. Realized we were woefully short on supplies and modules, and the market there was incredibly barren. So I volunteered my time and money to head to Jita and haul some supplies back for the corp. I bought an Iteron and 150m ISK worth of turrets, launchers, fittings, ammunition, etc. Loaded it all up and took the safest route (50 jumps). I made it about 5 jumps into 0.0 space before I got caught in a warp disruption field in the middle of a warp path. I had no idea those things took you OUT of warp. I was blown to bits and lost all of that cargo.

And you know what? I effing love the game. Maybe I'm masochistic, but I have a profound respect for a developer and a game that can be so brutal. I spent 3+ hours getting all of that cargo together, and not only is it gone, but I lost all that money. That just makes a successful run that much more rewarding.

Yes, I am pissed off right now. Extremely. But damnit man, it does not get any more hardcore than that. I love it.

Now you probably could have saved yourself from the loss if you has an escort jumping with you and ahead of you on the trip back.

DUUUUDE. Are you a fellow deadhead? Old man down- way down down, down by the docks of the city?

But no, it's never too late. I started in January and I'm already able to field a battleship somewhat efficiently.

Our corp is really small so no one could escort me. I had no idea it'd be that difficult to make it out alive. Sigh.

Yeah, next time con someone or pay them to jump imeadiately ahead of you so you can abort your trip if they find a gate camp

Or if you have access to a 2nd computer/laptop, just create a 14-day trial account on the other computer and 2-box... fly ahead with your n00b character to scout things out, then jump in with your main toon if the coast looks clear...

When planning to head to 0.0 to your alliance/corp base of ops, these are the steps u must take (X marks optionals):

1.Read up corp and alliance mails concerning enemys ,routes, camps, locations

2.Ask your corp and/or alliance for the best and safest route and during what usual hours is it considered safe

3.Join the intel channels your alliance/joint alliance has for the region you are going to travel to and ask for info (if your alliance lacks this, you should consider joining a more organized one) and ask for intel on camps, routes, enemys

4.X Get a scout to move ahead of u or ask a corp/alliance member that is heading the same way if he is in a cheaper ship to do that for u.

Ive lost expensive ships aswell, and ive being always the one at fault because of the lack of info (solo),btw glad you like the game, but try to avoid getting blown up or you might wake up with no isk and ships :D

Unless the rules have changed recently, you cant be logged on a trial alt and a active account at the same time, you can be logged on with 2 active accounts tho.I actualy have an alt,I pay for both my accounts with isk,soo it's affordable :D

I'll admit I've never tried this myself, but it was suggested to me by a former corp mate (back when I played EvE - I don't any longer).

How would CCP track this though?  I doubt they'd do it by IP address or home address (or else how would 2 roommates play at the same time with different types of accounts)?  If they did it by CC number, you could just use a different CC I suppose?

Don't feel bad OP, at least you lost yours in honorable combat.  My last loss was 750M because I purchased a Badger 2 and didn't pay attention to the 3 extra zeros..... (I should not play when I'm that tired)

As others have said, you never move freight (or anything of value) into 0.0 w/o a scout in front of you.

I have 3 accounts and will actually run a scout +1 and sometimes a 2nd either +2 or -1 to make sure nothing sneaks up on me.

And still, I get blown up sometimes.

    EVE happens.

    Fun!

Err maibe I wasnt clear enough or didnt understand your first post, you can play a trial on one comp and a active on another, but u cant play on the same comp because the trial has set paremeters not to allow it with the client.

Heh heh, that's a great story from the OP, I'm tempted to buy this one and try it out.  I guess that makes me a bit of a masochist as well.

They're selling a Special Editon version at Best Buy near me, for like 30, or should I just download it from Steam for 19 bucks?  How slow is downloading it, is it worth it? Or should I just buy the box SE version and shell out the extra $$?

Well happiness and joy cannot exist if anger, hatred dont... if there was no loss u would never have had never feel a immense joy after loosing your ship to have a lucky streak and recover it + some more in a fluke roaming engagement. It's the sense of acomplishment and failure put togheter.

Wow - great attitude and handled very maturely, and I salute you, sir.  A lot of people would have made a QQ post.

A bit late, I know, but next time hire a few escorts with "muscle" and/or have a scout with a few Warp Stabilizers in his ship.  I'm surprised some of your corp weren't willing to at least escort you in, for the last few jumps.

    Respects...

  • x_rast_xx_rast_x Member Posts: 745

Yeah, we all take it on the chin now and then.  At least you're being mature about it.

As was said, you should always have a scout in nullsec - a disposable untrained alt in a noobship works just fine.  In lowsec you can get away with a frig or blockade runner, though you should still scout stations when undocking unless you want to end up like this guy, who am I linking so you can maybe feel better at the thought that someone being dumb lost more than you did. You can't cloak instantly when undocking due to the station's docking radius and it still takes a few moments to align.

EVE doesnt really work like that.  In a couple of months you can be playing successfully in any career path you choose.

you tried to go to 00 in an iteron? LOL

Im only laughing because you took it WAY better than I did the first time I tried something like that.

  • TaramTaram Member CommonPosts: 1,700

    1)  Before doing this again train to fly transports, specifically (since you're gallente) the Viator as it can warp cloaked and aligns and flies very quickly (for a hauler anyway).

    2)  Consider having a carrier or jump freighter meet you in lowsec and jump the goods to 0.0.  If your corp is living more than just a very few  jumps deep in 0.0 and doesn't have access to one or the other you guys are in for a hell of a rough time :)

If you can't do 1, or 2, above... never fly through 0.0 without at least someone to scout you.

I almost envy you on that numbers you guys throw around here :) "hundreds of millions lost, still it was fun "

I'm new to the game, bleeding broke and cannot even afford skills. Found out that i have to grind corp-standing with lvl1 Q-17 20k missions to be able to get lvl2s for a little more cash and you are having fun losing the millions :)

when i started  eve in 2004 i remember making my first million isk mining in my imicus , i know alot of people hate mining but it's still today a fast and safe way of making isk .

there always a market for ore and always will be , but mission running later on get better for isk once you get those level 3 or level 4 agents .

All am saying it;s not hard making isk in eve just depends of the time you wanna invest .
