How sad it was... ran around and around...    I think I seen maybe 5 or 10 people. Such a sad thing really to come back after 2 years when the classic servers were still fun..   and to cancel just 1 hours after coming back..   I even got a refund.    But to anyone wanting to come back on classic...   don't even think about it.

Been there done that:

Is it really that bad?  I thought people said things were doing well on the classic server and that DAOC is making a come back.  I was tempted to try it again, but I'm having a difficult time figuring out who's right on the forums lol.

I know DAOC's population went up a bit when WAR came out...when people realized WAR is not DAOC, many went and resubbed to DAOC for their RvR fix.  But is it dying down again?

The Devon cluster is averaging between 2000-3000 players a night. Classic cluster  is pretty much dead now, only a couple hundred a night. Pretty much everyone has re-rolled on Devon because that's where the population is at.

Devon is actually a lot of fun nowadays because of the population spike with all the other cluster players re-rolling on it. You should try it out before giving up on DAOC. I'm a classic player myself who moved to Devon and it's not all that bad.

The good thing about eveyone moving to Devon is that there are a lot of players leveling up now, so you can actually find groups again.

    Currently Playing: DAOC Uthgard

Previously Played: UO, DAOC, Shadowbane, AC2, SWG, Horizons, COX, WOW, EQ2, LOTRO, AOC, WAR, Vanguard, Rift, SWTOR, ESO, GW2.

Classic servers are near dead, but the Devon cluster is thriving right now.

Population of each server and cluster are at www.camelotherald.com

TOA is very different now, so many changes have been made and many people who were Classic cluster die-hards have re-rolled to the Devon cluster

TOA is easy now. Not like the old days.

Care to elaborate at all? What has changed?

Several changes have been brough in over various patches some of the major changes are:

All ML and arti mobs have average respawn of 10 mins - no more waiting hours, days, weeks only to find someone else got there while you were afk.  Alsoyou no longer need the actaul arti to drop, just encounter credit plus the scrolls.

Many of the ML mobs and encounters have had their difficulty reduced - no longer need huge zerg-type raids to get MLs.

new mob type called a afrit (two levels doable by smaller and larger groups) plus elementals (for solo) which give an item which when you have collected five, they combine and you can get items previously only available on ML raids plus the chance they drop decent items when killing afrits.

Scrolls are far far easier to come by .

Both artis and MLs can be bought with your Bounty Points - RvR enough and you can bypass TOA content and still get the rewards

Thanks for the recap. That sounds pretty good actually. I think I may resub :)

If you do - give the tutorial area a try too.  I've been playing the game on and off since release and since they implemented the tutorial always skipped it, figuring I knew enough not to need it.

But it's worth the time to do the quests if you have nothing on a server just to get started with some items and armor and to get you back in to the game if you've been away for a while, you can gt to lvl 10-11 plus get your first horse while there

You might want to check this article on the Herald as well www.camelotherald.com/devblog/news_article.php which talks about the supercluster that is being proposed.  Supercluster is a bit of a misnomer, more like a new server that everyone will be moved to - this will mean one server will have 3000+ people on in peak periods.

There is also a system being proposed to give Classic players(Bossiney cluster) ToA bonuses/conversions of equipment.when they transfer.

Note: this will be a forced transfer to the new server Ywain.  It has been discussed by the devs on both Facebook and the VN Boards.
