Well, if you couldn't stand the slow and boring combat in most western MMOs, I'm sure that you'll have a great time of pressing "," and waiting for regen after every second fight.
What? An experienced mmorpg player talking about "Waiting for regen after every second fight"?
/facepalm
No, I don't need to wait for regen. Thanks to the standard mmorpgs tools I have at hand (support classes, buffs, power shards, pots,...) I can push through mobs in no time.

Good discussion though.
Cheers.
I guess if someone wants to play it like a WoW clone, that's what he gets.
"No food or water, damn it's slow, this game sucks! "
Considering Wow being one of the most polished games I see this as a good point.
And as I left wow at level 25 because of the "disneyland" art direction, this is all good for me.
Anime is not the issue as I also put Perfect World in the "disneyland" category.
If by non-anime you are thinking about games like EQ2 or Vanguard with their "barbie doll" look and animations (what the hell is that jumping animation? lol), this is good for me again because I didn't like those. AoC looks good though.
I prefer the "NCSoft" design type (Lineage 2, GW, etc...). Aion might look a little more "anime" (really?), but I like it.

As for the actual game play, it's WoW without the smooth combat
Yes, to me the combat also seemed a little clunky at first, but once you get your profession and level up with the new stats and the skills it's a different story. And it only gets better

Good! I can't stand the slow and boring combat in most of the western mmos (AoC is a fortunate exception).
As for the other part of the feeling, Aion has so much world life, decent lore, cut-scene movies,... that it doesn't feel like a f2p grinder to me.

I actually feel sort of sorry for you... Just because you think the game feels bad in your eyes does not mean it is. The fact you are actually complaining about MMO's in general instead of AION shows how hateful you are towards the genre in general.
Next time you try out a mmorpg, at least try and go in with an open mind instead of trying to play it like you are a rogue or something in WoW.

Had I the heavens' embroidered cloths, Enwrought with golden and silver light, The blue and the dim and the dark cloths Of night and light and the half light, I would spread the cloths under your feet: But I, being poor, have only my dreams; I have spread my dreams under your feet; Tread softly because you tread on my dreams.
Aion also 'is not out yet' according to many posters depending on what point is trying to be made, I read conflicting 'it's released China / Korea' and 'it's still in beta'. Quite convenient really.
Actually, It's not conflicting at all. It's a kind of Beta preview for NA/EU, and it's released China / Korea.
Amazing character creation video btw.
"Conflicting" was a poor choice of word and in fact there's no need for it to be in that sentence at all and for that I apologize.
Edit it out, read it again and that's what I wanted to say.
Oh and yeah, that APB character creation knocks the socks off anything I've seen in any other MMO released or not.

I'm voicing my opinion. Never once have I said that people shouldn't play this game. On the contrary, if you check my previous posts, I actually list the things I enjoy about Aion.
As for the rest of what you've said. You may be right. Simply because most MMO's are the same. The play the same and feel the same. And this one is no different. Yes, I may be hateful towards most MMO's because the only real inovation we've had was Planetside and EVE Online.
We get the same hyped clones every year. WoW, AoC, WAR, Aion, just to name a few. Under all of the fluff, they are all the same games.
Is there any MMO you actually are a fan of and playing currently, and if so, which one and why ? I've tried to find a postive post about a MMO in your post history but gave up after 8 pages.

I think APB just took that title.
I don't follow this game, and it's not out yet. Regardless, I did add "IMO"!
No need to get angry, I don't follow APB either, but I did see the thread on it here and here's the character creation video if you'd like to see it - www.gametrailers.com/user-movie/insane-apb-character-customization/319854
