Phenom II X2 550 review

Agricola1Agricola1 Member UncommonPosts: 4,977

AMD just released its first Phenom II dual core by disabling half the cores on a quad, I wonder if they can be unlocked like the X3 720? here is the review click , the X2 550 (an X4 955 with two disabled cores) pretty much performs the same as an E8400. However it is £50 or $60 cheaper than an E8400, all I can say is "I pity the fool that bought Intel!".

I'm interested, could you tell swiftly about the internal working?

    With the 550 and 8400?

I'm so broke. I can't even pay attention.

And in the current market is over priced and offers poor value for money. With even the X3 720 BE being cheaper and out performing it Intel need to lower the price on the E8400 to around $100 or $70-£80. Not saying that the E8400 isn't a great CPU, just that at the moment it doesn't offer value and it only runs on an obsolete platform.

Intel must lower prices to compete, either that or keep paying shops not to stock AMD and bribing manufacturers not to use AMD CPUs. I guess that's why Intel prices stay where they are, you have to get that backsheesh fund replenished somehow, what better way than make the consumer pay for it?
