It looks like you're new here. If you want to get involved, click one of these buttons!
As a spoiled PC gamer where you make a few clicks to install, register and logon, FFIX doesn't make it easy. PlayOnline, register keys (which isn't called key) etc. - well could be me o/c.
Anyway, I am desparately trying to find a manual, mainly for the keyboard layout. Nothing is as I knows it from other PC games, can't even find an option menu where I can change ingame settings or logout from..... Doooh, if I ever felt like a n00b.....
Plus I am having "Vista-problems", haven't been able to get rid of the stuttering despite finding some threads on this known issue.

The number pad is used to move. The " - " key on the number pad, brings up your menu, the " * " key on the number pad kneels you down to rest (be prepared to wait a LONG time if you're really hurt, to heal). That should help you get started. Don't forget to go to the equipment menu and put your sword on, before you go out to fight, you have it, but it's not on your person yet.
cheers. that helps!
also found the manual in the logon screen finally.
now just for the frame rate problem
You have to use the PLAYONLINE vista patch. Before i was using that i had to use a very old driver ,otherwise the game ran bad.Since using the Vista patch i just use the latest drivers and no problems.I do not think i have checked Framerates, but i am sure they limit bandwidth. The game runs surprisingly well for at times very high pings.
BTW there is no z-axis fighting,so don't try to hold the mouse and freelook,i just hit the edge of the screen to rotate around. If you want to look 360 during a fight to make sure no other links or aggro are nearby, just hit auto attack to remove the lock, then hit again to lock on.
Never forget 3 mile Island and never trust a government official or company spokesman.
You should buy a ps2/xbox like joystick. The game is made to play it on ps2, that why playing with a keyboard is a mess.

Yeah. Use a gamepad or a controller. That's the way the game was designed, due to its original release for the PS2.
