Well instead of just relying on others info about the game I decided to preorder and get in the preview weekend and I'm glad I did. I just had alot of fun playing, the music is great, the graphics are great, the combat is just about the same as the others except maybe AOC which has directionals instead. I think if people want a solid fun mmo to play then AIon will be for them. If people are looking for something truely unique I'm not sure this will be for them. The game is just alot of fun and I'm glad I tried it for myself instead of relying on others. I'm sure the game will only get better once people are able to pvp.
The one thing I did find frustating was the camera. Alot of times my character would be big in size and I would try to mess with the camera settings but it wouldnt help any. I did notice that once I was able to teleport from place to place my character got smaller in size. I am wondering if anyone else ahd this problem. Perhaps I missed something in the settings to fix this ? You also can't zoom the camera in and out which seems unless I missed something.

I don't think I had a problem zooming and it sticking to the spot I put it. I know the camera does jerk like crazy if your by a jagged wall, the camera will repeatedly try to readjust itself to your settings, anoying as hell.
No problems with the camera myself, but the beta was definitely fun. Glad you enjoyed it aswell.
I also had alot of fun with the game,It seems some ppl have been saying "it brings nothing new" which infact is the truth, though what it does do in my opinion is bring the best things from other game's into this 1 game, yes the graphics are good as is the sound(ok character sound not,but this will be changed for release),having chain attacks again is really good fun, also adding stone's to weapons and armor to build the player the way you want is also very good and diverse. Also lets not forget just how well the game runs, hundreds of ppl logging in on Friday night and the game ran like I was the only 1 playing, high hopes right away for the pvp battle's.
If I had 1 had to whine about 1 thing it would probably be the starting area,This is just for you to get used to the game and your guy but I feel lvl 1-9 do drag out alittle after say lvl 5 you are already looking to leave the area, there is alot of running from x>y>z>x>z etc, though once you hit lvl 9 the game really starts to take off(pun intended).
I really enjoyed my short stay in the game and looking forward to the 19th to have another go.
To the OP I didnt have the problems you had but to zoom in and out was done with the mouse wheel.
If someone had came up to me in 1980 when I was on my Atari 2600 and said we will be playing games with thousands of people at the same time.I guess my response would have been,"but I only have 2 joysticks"

I haven't been following this game at all. I am a pretty disillusioned gamer, who hasen't found much worthwhile in any of the recently released games. I was surfing the web late a few nights ago, and saw that MMORPG.com was doing the preview weekend thingy. I got my key, downloaded the game, and logged in on friday afternoon. I have to say, i am rather surprised at how good Aion is. This game is the most polished, well thought out game i have ever played at launch (and it hasn't even launched yet). I played extensively all weekend, and i can't remember seeing ANY bugs at all. The programmers deserve credit for making a game that looks so good, and runs so well. I will admit, the gameplay is rather familiar, but it is so well done, and flows so well, that i will most definitely give this a try when it goes live.
edit: i was considering renewing my WAR account this weekend, and after seeing Aion, i don't think i will ever be able to play that game again. Aion looks better, plays better, and is FAR more fun than WAR ever was. I think i must have alt-tabbed out a dozen times, just to see Aion properly utilizing all the cores of my processor. The guys at Mythic could learn a thing or two from Aion.
by the way, what's this about the 19th? is there another preview, and what do i have to do to get into it?
You are right, Aion is probably one of the best MMORPGs every constructed. It is nothing next-gen. However, it is extremely fun and probably the best of this gen-games.
Still not done trolling I see
......*cough* redundant.
Like so many other people I decided to preorder Aion Online and take part of the Closed beta for Aion Online and have a string of complaints.....
FIRST: Loot rights and Kill credit go to the person(or group) who does the most damage now this doesn't seem like a big deal to most but consider this. There is only 1 starting zone for each faction which means there will be an ungodly amount of competition for quest mobs. I chose to try with Warrior (the Tanking class) and after endless competition with others I fealt horribly overshadowed and if I had been playing the Game seriously I would have a long list of people on my ignore list.
SECOND: Why would there be a limit on how long you can fly. I could understand if the flight was through some sort of spell but there are HUGE wing portruding from your back flight seems to be pretty much a given.....
THIRD: There is a total lack Character options....its cut and dry you are gonna end up being 1 of 4 classes...no matter what they call it in the end you will essentially be the original class they chose with only a few unique abilities for each Sub-Class....So you are either Gonna be a Tank, Physical DMG dps, Caster DMG dps, or Heals.....very little utility from what I saw
So in my opinion: Cancel your Pre-Orders and Save you money and wait for Star Wars the Old Republic. Don't forget.....these guys made Tabula Rasa
There are times when one must ask themselves is it my passion that truly frightens you? Or your own?
I thoroughly enjoyed this "preview" of the game. I had fun trying to level various classes and see how they play in the end game. There are certain things that make the experience more enjoyable and more fast paced, which are not exactly explained properly in my opinion. I'm glad I had some exposure to L2, but for those who didn't and will come straight from WoW, they might find the pace a bit slow if they don't know how to improve things.
For example (please correct me with the proper names, I don't have the game as reference any longer):
I did manage to get into a group attacking some more elite mobs. The exp gained was a lot better, but also the margin for mistake was a lot smaller. It was a fun experience overall and I'm glad I managed to participate.
What I would like to know, if anyone can describe from their own experience from the live game, what healer is preferred for PvP and PvE. Back in L2, the chanter equivalent was a lot better overall in the support role. In Aion, at least in the first few levels they seem more evened out. Anyone could give me their insight on that?
Too bad it ended so soon, who can wait until launch ...
The next coming NA & EU Beta event for Aion is currently scheduled as follows:
Starting Time: Friday, June 19th (9:00 PM CEST, 8:00 PM BST, noon PT)
Ending Time: Monday, June 22nd (8:59 AM CEST, 7:59 AM BST, Sunday 21st 11.59 PM PT)
Features: Asmodian race, levels 1 - 10
Unfortunatly it is only lvl's 1-10 this time but at least we get a look at the other side,to gain access some of the preview keys will work for this event, however I dont think the keys from mmorpg.com will work, they may well have another giveaway I have no idea.
The easiest way to gain access to all the preview event's is to pre-order the game and you will be sorted

......*cough* redundant.
redundant? probably. I won't argue that with you. In my case however, it's also true. If Aion can impress me in one weekend, then it's doing something right. like a lot of people, i have played most of the higher profile games that have come out in the last 10 years, and i can honestly say that this one has that "something" that makes it fun. time will tell if it's just all shiny bells and whistles.
Fixed
To graggok:
Actually the classes are 8 overall. They branch at level 10 (from what you posted I don't think you reached that point).
Kill stealing can be annoying, but you can look at it this way; it's a great opportunity to weed out the asshats early on. Overall, with everyone rushing the same zone it was a bit of a pain during the first day. The second day the experience was much better. Since I don't expect to enter the game from day 1, I think I'm going to have a decent experience overall.
The limit to the flying time adds a strategic factor to it. It's the equivalent of complaining why you can't stay underwater indefinitely.
The only thing that annoyed me was two things:
