Conq pvp is alot of fun. It does have a much higher learning curve to get good though imho. As far as players running away, thats something all melee classes face but with the amount of cc available its usually not that bad.

The circle strafing gets rather annoying ..

Far from dead no matter how much the well financed hate machine wishes it  otherwise.

Maybe people that play AoC should just answer these kind of posts with a big..."YES,  AGE OF CONAN IS DEAD!!!"...then continue to recruit  others in secret. That way we don't have to hear this question 5x a week ...even if it is asked in inquisitive sincerity....neither would we have to hear the hundreds of other doom-speakers saying "Yes" themselves and then going on to provide different and most times purely opinionated negative info that was never requested of them. We can beat them to the punch...steal the wind from their sails..so to speak.

Why do people act like there is one single mmo on the market that functions different than the others the way I see it is in a session you will wind up hitting some key hundreds of times and I didn't see AOC as any different some of you guys act as if there is actually some skill involved in this, keep deluding yourselves if you like but there is no video game especially mmo that takes any kind of skill period. Auto attack or not.

but yeah, to call this game Fantastic is like calling Twilight the Godfather of vampire movies....

Do you understand that the article you have linked is the exact opposite of the "Well Financed HATE Machine" you are claiming exists??

I certainly don't think people should believe everything they read, but more importantly I don't think people should read things and than suggest something completely different was stated.

When Funcom pull the plug you will know it's dead...otherwise it's just another useless thread like so many by some who think they know and can explain everything but in fact knows jackshit.

So you are saying with that link that because Funcom lied to and did more selling than making a good game most players who bought Age of Conan, 9 out of 10 or so have left and they tell others about this games failures and now Age of Conan has LOST 33 million dollars and only has 3 remaining servers with active populations for the USA???????

Funcom should learn that they reap what they sow.

I have a hard time seeing how 6 medium population servers worldwide is anything but dead. With instancing and much less geographical space there are usually fewer players on those few AoC servers than a Warhammer, EQ2, or WoW server.

Funcom has reviewed all of its assets relevant for
impairment testing. This process has led to
recognition of an impairment loss of around
3,1 MUSD for Age of Conan due to a decrease in
numbers of subscribers for the game. Funcom Q4 10 report.

I would agree to this IF funcom pulled the plug on the servers and canned the project, by your definition there is a lot of "dead" games out there. AoC is still alive since the servers are still running, but the population is less then some of the main competition to AoC. Does this make the game dead? A game on life support I would partly agree with, but far from dead. Dead means it doesn't exist anymore, it's not possible to play etc. ;)

Playing: Battlefield - Bad company (Xbox360) Arma2, DFO (PC)
    On my radar: TSW, MO
MMO's played: SWG (pre cu/cu), WoW, AoC, WAR, DFO, Planetside
MMO's that I have tested: Lotro, L2, Aion, Ryzom

There is a MASSIVE difference between wish and reality. Some guys here wish the game would go away, the reality is that overall servers are just fine, and in line.

How would one know if one doesn't experience first hand? I mean there are stats out there which wipe the floor with some of the extreme negative comments put out in this thread.

Best thing about all of this, is the TRIAL, free to try it out, anyone wondering can load it up and see for themselves. Bearing in mind they will be on one server and wonder how someone can come to the conclusion about how servers are worldwide and then think... 'like it really matters'.

It's amazing to see the same people who hate the game posting in every new thread in the AoC forums than in the forums of the game they like.

Kind of like people talking at work about the plane crash that happened the other day, even though they did not know a soul on it don't you think?

now what I find amazing is the number of I came back and now the game is wonderful and Just tried the game and it is number one type threads posted on here each week by new posters. Once the thread appears it is usually bumped four or five times in the first five or ten minutes by other posters who are low post count also. Amazing isn't it?

oh I am sure a few are, but what is really amazing is how those types of threads are more prevalent in the forums of the games that have fallen or are in the process of  falling on their butts. Kind of like those Elvis/UFO sightings are always by some  guy with combover and a beer belly who is sitting on the deck of his mobile home knocking back a beer.

One of these days the fanboys and companies might realize that these games find their own level within a few months and stay there a few years till a truly bettter game comes along.

I've just returned to AOC after an absence of about a year.

I'm still only in Tortage so I've not decided if I will stay or not but definatly the server I am on is not "dead".

Any time of day that I login chat is very active and I see numerous other players wandering around and doing quests.

  • Bluff+ZiggsBluff+Ziggs Member Posts: 69

A few realms are still well populated, thus active, thus fun to play. On the other hand, most realms aren't like that.

  • TjommisTjommis Member UncommonPosts: 225

My main server is booming, my guild never had as many active members as it has now. That is what I care about, so for me; AoC is very much alive

  • GurtelroseGurtelrose Member Posts: 191

Um, why? This game is dead. The only people who play now are Player Killers, Griefers, and Trolls. Oh wait, lots of people are like that in mmo's. Never mind, it will do fine.
