I dont see why this is happening, she says; Tami Farrell will take crown
LOS ANGELES - Miss California USA Carrie Prejean, who stirred up trouble for herself when she said gays shouldn't be allowed to marry, got two dreaded words from pageant poobah Donald Trump on Wednesday: "You're fired."
Trump and other pageant leaders said Prejean was being sacked not because of the remarks but because she hadn't been holding up her end of the agreement she signed when she entered the pageant.
"This was a decision based solely on contract violations, including Ms. Prejean's unwillingness to make appearances on behalf of the Miss California USA organization," the California pageant's executive director, Keith Lewis, said in a statement.
But on Wednesday, Prejean told Access Hollywood she believed she was dethroned because of her stand on gay marriage.
Its just because of my answer, I think, Prejean said. None of this would be happening right now if I just said, Yeah, gays should get married.
Lewis had complained at a news conference last month that Prejean was skipping Miss California USA events while speaking out against gay marriage at unsanctioned appearances.
After the complaints reached Trump, who owns Miss California USA's parent organization, the mogul decided to give her a second chance and keep her on. This week, he changed his mind.
"I told Carrie she needed to get back to work and honor her contract with the Miss California USA Organization and I gave her the opportunity to do so," Trump said in a statement. "Unfortunately it just doesn't look like it is going to happen."
Prejean told Access Hollywood that she's been making appearances as Miss California and doing her part to communicate with the Miss California USA organization.
Ive tried to reach out to them and Ive done several appearances and Im gonna be presenting at the Special Olympics this weekend as an honorary guest, she said. I mean, Ive been cooperating with them. I dont see why this is happening.
Pageant officials said Prejean would be replaced by the Miss California pageant's first runner-up, Tami Farrell, 24, who was crowned Miss Teen USA in 2003. They had announced last month that Farrell was being named a special ambassador to fill in for Prejean at any events she didn't attend.
"Carrie is a beautiful young woman and I wish her well as she pursues her other interests," Trump said.
In an interview with Access Hollywood, Prejean said she's convinced that Trump has her best interests at heart.
I think that he definitely is a businessman and I know that hes looking out for my best interest and right now, I think that that maybe he [thinks this decision is in the] best interest for me, she said.
During the Miss USA competition, Prejean was first runner-up after answering a judge's question about gay marriage by saying wedding vows should be reserved for men and women.
"No offense to anybody out there, but that's how I was raised," she said.
After the response drew heavy criticism she began speaking to crowds opposed to gay marriage, violating a section of her contract that required she clear unsanctioned appearances with pageant officials. About the same time, seminude photos of her began to surface on the Internet.
Although the photos were mild, pageant officials said she also violated her contract by not disclosing their existence to them.
When Trump initially decided to keep Prejean on, Lewis' co-executive director, former Miss USA Shanna Moakler resigned in protest.
"My faith has been restored in the Miss Universe Organization and with Donald Trump," Moakler said in a statement after Wednesday's announcement. She didn't say whether she planned to return to the organization.

Frankly, I could not possibly care less. Could not possibly care less. I thought she was a total and complete flake - always.
Let me say this: I told you she believed in a two-rule system: one for Prejean and one for everyone else (this includes contracts, promises, rights of association, performance of contractual duties, and so forth).
She'll be alright.
I'd actually suggest she still claim she's Miss California if she wants. Not being a plumber didn't stop Joe the Plumber in conservative movements, and like him she already has down not knowing what she's talking about, so why should she stop now?
Fired for expressing her personal beliefs, when asked to no less. Ain't that America. Home of the greed, land of the slave.
I just love how she takes personal responsibility for her actions, or, should I say, lack of actions in fulfilling her contract.
Does it even dawn on her in the slightest that, if Trump were going to fire her for her statement on gay marriage, or for her pictures, that he would have originally fired her, and not have given her another chance?
Obviously she has no concept of taking personal responsibility for her actions.
She will make a good talking head for any political party.

This is what you get when you're more occupied with your intolerant agenda, trying to forbid what other people can do because of your personal belief, than doing your actual job.

Was it ever anything more? With people like that celebrity bloger dude as a judge and Trump involved, it seems to be finally accepting the cliched role it plays in our culture. Honestly I had forgetten that it even existed, until, and heres the shocker, the controvesy erupted.
To judge her beauty ofcourse, but apparently you're still unable to see the difference between judging beauty and attraction. Not that i'm surprised, considering who i'm talking to.

Look, this entire thread is meaningless without a picture of the new Miss California. That will tell us all we need to know. If she's as good or better looking than Carrie, I'm willing to let it slide. If she's not as good looking as Miss Prejean, I'll be out there fighting for the restoration of her throne with everything I've got.
As far as Carrie Prejean is concerned, I wouldn't worry about her. She's achieved more fame than being Miss California or even Miss USA would ever have brought her. Does anyone even know Miss USA's name? I just know she's from North Carolina.
Just saw interview on Greta Van Sustern with her and that official from CA pageant.Nope she is not as pretty, at least I dont think she is.She also stated when asked by Greta about gay marriage that she would agree with the voters ,then Greta said CA voters voted against it so you would be against it?..She tried to deflect then...LOL ,there may be a 3rd runner up chosen now after she said that right beside the Ca official.

The organization obviously disagrees and considering Prejean was caught lying before, it wouldn't surprise me if she did it this time.
It doesn't matter if she will be a millionaire or not, what really matters it the fact that there is so much controversy around this is proof that America is beginning to say No to intolerance.
I could say the controversy is created by the media more than the people. Seems the majority of citizens want politics, PC, and government out of their religions...something about separation of church and state I believe.
Marriage is a religious term...religions should figure it out. Civil Union is political term for the union of two citizens...that is what the government should legislate. If they want to step on religion then why not create a religious state and get it over with.

Well seeing as you seem to have no sense of humor and can't recognize a joke, I guess I'll turn serious here. She was stripped of her crown for not fulfilling her obligations as Miss California. She says she has been. I have not been following this story closely enough to know which side is correct. Her lawyer says she may sue. If she does and is found to have met all her obligations, she deserves to have her crown restored. Although that would really suck for the new Miss California. Maybe the best thing would be for her to let it go.
As far as her being a "bigot", I reject your inflamatory characterization of her. She simply holds traditional family values. The same values that a majority of Americans have held since the inception of this country. Are you saying that all Americans who believe(d) in traditional marraige going back to the beginning of this country were all bigots? I say "no". I believe they have moral and/or principled reasons for believing so. Just because there are Americans today who wish to redefine traditional marraige does not make every American going back over 200 years who believed otherwise bigots.
And even if she were, I'm not sure that would qualify as a breach of her obligations as Miss California. I could be wrong though. I have never read the contract she signed.

As I already mentioned, Prejean has been caught lying before and considering she has an obsession to pretend she is the victim here, I see no reason to take her word over the word of the organization. If they wanted to fire her for her comment, they would have done so the first time her crown became in question.
I do consider everybody who is against legalizing gay marriage a bigot. She doesn't just holds traditional family values, that is suggercoating what is really going on.
She does not only hold certain values, she believes her values are superior to other peoples and believes her values should be enforced on everybody else.

Lets talk about marriage in the past. Lets talk about interracial marriage. Laws against interracial marriage and interracial sex existed and were enforced in the thirteen colonies. It's funny how you didn't bring that up, since you know, it's been there since the beginning of the country...but it was eventually changed.

@horusra: The concept of marriage is far to old to be traced back. There are also plenty of churches willing to marry homosexual couples, but these marriages are not recognised.
I'm glad, she got what she deserved, that woman was nuts in my opinion. Honestly it seems that every Miss (Teen) America do bad and raunchy things to get rep. I don't know why they let photos of a person's past go yet when they get opportunity they want to say it's, "a mastake". I expect Carrie to be in Playboy next month.

Just as polygamy was at one time legal in certain parts of this country but was later outlawed. So where do you stand on ploygamy then? I say it's all or nothing. If you demand the legalization of gay marraige, then you have to give people who wish to marry more than one person the right to do so. And if you disagree with that, then you are a bigot.
Therefore you must be in favor of polygamy, right? I mean you don't want to be known as a bigot, do you?

I haven't do a lot of research on polygamy nor do I know what effect it has on society. However if it can be proven that polygamy does not have a negative effect on society, I'm not against polygamy.
