I mean, my god, log into this forum and all we see is how much everyone thinks this game is going to be terrible. Yet we know very little about the game.

Stop. Please. Just stop until we know more. We don't need a whole page of people with nothing but posts that the game will fail, that the game sucks (when you haven't even played it yet) and moaning about possible options when we don't even have a clue whether they will be added yet.

I've never seen anyone do this with any game but a Star Wars.

Enough already.

Just about every thread on this forum involves people who have never played a game how much it sucks, why it's either failing or going to fail, and how the casual gamer is all to blame and it's the poor little hardcore players who have to suffer.  For being 'hardcore', they sure do cry a lot, don't they?

Of course, you'll have a couple dozen posts here pointing out that people who don't know anything about the game are already posting about how great it is, how it's going to be so awesome, etc, so they're just doing their duty by offering an opposing opinion.

eh....its called shooting the breeze, and people do it all the time about all sorts of topics.   Like people who've never played pro baseball arguing over who's going to win the World series when the games haven't been played during the regular season.

Its fun, and keeps forums going.  What should it matter to you if they post it or not?  You don't like them, ignore them, that's what I tend to do.

But a thread like this one, troll bait all the way.

"Shooting the breeze" is something you do with your Grandfather while sitting on the front porch in the summertime.  What happens here on these forums is more along the lines of one person belittling the next because he/she feels far superior over the other.

Thing to remember is, if you don't like the game, then you aren't the target audience. That being said, I don't think BioWare is trying to screw anybody over here, I think they hope everybody can enjoy TOR at some level. It's not like they picked one group of players and put a big middle finger up at them and said "we don't want you here". That does not mean there won't be things you dislike about the game, but then again I can find something I don't like about something I consider a favorite. If there are to many negatives for you, don't buy it.

Is it me or is any game in development must have people come along and bash it no matter what?

As for TOR, EA has now backed the farm on it making this a big success even though Earth and Beyond and WAR haven't been the greatest of sucesses. For EA this is it if they can't get this right they may as well just pack up with MMO's and just go and make madden and fifa until time stops.

I just hope that Bioware keep careful control of the project and we get something we all wanted. If anybnody could do it Bioware surely can.

I can smell the Fear of WoW all over these forums. They are trying to stave off their destruction through subversion but they will not succed. WoW's days are numbered. Their accoun ts will be for naught soon.

Thing is, it don't matter in the end. Let the people who enjoy playing WoW play WoW. Those of us who end up liking TOR will play TOR. I've never been into the whole, this game gotta beat that game thing. It's hard for me to pay any long term attention to any game I don't play anymore, or have ever played. I played WoW for a while, got bored and left. As long as there is enough different types of players to make a game fun and remain viable, then that's all that really matters in the end, for me anyways.

So they should just close this forum? No reason to discuss it til it releases? Don't be silly. Let me lay it out how it works.

Dev/Pub releases bits of information over time, people interested for one reason or another discuss those tidbits. If the tidbits released lead people to think the game will be good or bad, this is the place to discuss it.

    Whats your problem?

Guys, lets be realistic: ToR isnt going to hit WoW-Level subs anytime soon after its release, no matter how great it is. MMO players are on average really slow about changing games, and you cant just pull in 10 million people out of thin air.

So why not stop this whole WoW vs ToR bullshit from the start and rather look at whether ToR can, on its own, convince you to keep playing and keep paying.

Cause frankly in a single-player centric, heavily instanced, story-driven game, I see that as a much bigger hurdle than anything else.

    Whaaa?

People have the right to post whatever they want as long as it's in accordance of the site rules. What are you the forum police?

Why does it bother you so much? You have the option to skip the posts or use the ignore feature for particular annoying trolls. If you get emotional over negativity on a forum then you spend way too much time online.

I agree, all games in development go through this sort of bitching and ranting.  I have to admit that I get caught up in it sometimes myself.  Meh...

As for Bioware keeping control over development, I think there's a misnomer in that.  The development of the game is a 3 headed beast.  You have Bioware/LA/EA all involved.  LucasArts has final say on everything, no matter what.  If they don't want it in the game, it's not going in.  Secondly, EA is the one forking over the bulk of the cash to produce and distribute the game and whatnot I believe so they are going to have some say in what gets in and what does not.  Bioware's job it seems to me is to outline the scope of the game, decide what features they want to see in the game, then run all that by LA and EA and then go do the work to create it.  I just don't believe that Bioware has "control" over the game, just the same as SOE didn't have "control" over SWG.  (I use this to illustrate LucasArt's involvement in both games)

I wouldn't worry about it OP.

It generates interest in the game by keeping the boards up so even if you are a fan and trolls drive you nuts, it keeps your game buzzing among people who may not originally be interested. Who cares what trolls think?

Usually it's because a troll's game failed and they are somewhat sore in the buttocks region and want someone else's game to crash as well (misery loves company). At least that's all you can think if they've never actually PLAYED the game. Playing it and criticizing is one thing, never playing it and criticizing it is downright weird. But this far out, no one knows what he's talking about... fanboi or troll.

But generally, any talk about any game is positive buzz. It's too far out for people to say "Man, too much negative. I won't play SWTOR at all", when it hasn't been finished yet. If it bothers you that much, I'd just ignore those threads altogether and post/comment on the positive ones. :)

A lot of it is from the deeply troubled SWG vet community. LA and SOE broke there wookiee and they want revenge..problem is all they are getting is a reputation for being nutjobs.

Getting a reputation? More like well established reputation for being nutjobs.
