Is Buddy Key SOE's Way to Open More Character Slots?

WardooWardoo Member Posts: 47

I got my buddy key and the first thought i had was, your friend is already playing, your girlfriend does not want to play, wait a second, 4 character slots, 4 character slots, more character slots, more 15$????
Of course it is fine, no more EQ II boxes to buy but is it fair from SOE to let people pay additional 15$ a month just to have 8 character slots?

no, i think it is thier way of getting more people to play the game. by giving them a chance for free 7 days.

That post didn't even make sense.

They gave people a buddy CD key so people could share it with others, nothing like the power of word of mouth. If you know the person you're giving it to isn't going to play, why even give it to them?

    Stop trolling.

wtf are you talking about, you get the buddy key and give your friend your copy of the game. they get to play for 7 days for free, its gives others the chance to play first without purchasing it. dont tell me i dont know what im talking about, think before you post idiot.

In case you didn't know, I was talking about the creator of this thread.

Also, you basically just reiterated what I had just posted.

Well, now that I re-read what I posted, I guess it wasn't clear, but I know that the buddy key was only for a 7-day trial, much like World of Warcraft's buddy key.

it looked like you were assaulting me, sorry.

Ok, I've read this at least 8 times.  I just don't understand.  Is it so hard these days to make a coherent sentence?

I think I understand what he's saying and it actually makes sense. If you want two accounts you have to buy the game box twice, which would have been $100 USD. Then pay $30 USD a month for both accounts. With the buddy number, you don't have to buy the box again so you save $50. This might make people more willing to get a second account.

No Jodo it doesn't make sense and your wrong as well.

You know how they say read the fine print. Well this isn't even fine print or hidden its in the paragraph right above the account key.

"After the 7-Day trial period is over the EverQuest II trial account will become inactive. In order to continue playing EverQuest II, the recipient of the 7-day buddy key will need to purchase and install the game software and update their subscription account billing information with a valid credit card or an official SOE Game Card to pay the monthly, recurring subscription fee. If the recipient of the 7-day buddy key wants to then continue their adventures with their trial character or characters, they can register for their account using the same Station Account name they used with the trial offer."

Meaning you get the email, setup your station account with this key, install the game with your friends cd's after you enjoy your seven days go out buy the game and add that account key to your station account so you can keep playing your character.

All that this does is give you 7 days of free playing thats it nothing else.

This is a perfect example as to why they had to dumb down the game.
People can't even figure out something as basic as the buddy key feature when all the details are written in the paragraph above the key itself.

I think the buddy key is kind of like what WoW did in their collectors edition. Pretty smart, they let you market the game for them. ::::02::

Wow, lighten up dude. I didn't read it, was just going by what was written in the post. You know, you shouldn't take life so seriously, you'll never get out alive.

    1. Why post something if your not sure your actually correct.

    2. There you go putting your foot in your mouth.  I'll never get out alive. And you on the other hand spreading your thoughts, because not knowing something and speaking is just your thoughts which were wrong twice now in 1 thread, will live for ever and ever and everimage

image Stop posting stuff your not sure about, If your not sure look it up and learn something then post to enlighten others.

Now bow down because I unlike you will live on forever for I am Lucan D'Lere you peasant now work so I don't have to or i'll keep chopping you up in threads over and over and over again till you dissapear

It was ironic? Well well, you mean there's actually something hidden in that wordpuzzle? But seriously, as Messudy already said, the key's just for the trial. Nothing more, nothing less, so even while you state it was irony I fail to see anything ironic in your original post at all, Wardoo.

"This game is about watching eachothers backs but somehow people tend to overlook my back when I'm not online to tell them where it is."

First off: I can post ANYTHING I want as long as it doesn't infringe on others rights. The beauty of living in a free country which hosts a free posting. If you're the idiot that wants to believe that everything you read on these boards have all been fact checked and is absolutely true, well that's your issue.

Second: I never stated anything as a fact. All I said was I understood what the original poster was trying to say. I NEVER said it was right or wrong, just clarified his statements, so in all actuallity when you posted saying I was wrong, YOU were the one that was wrong, becasue what I posted was EXACTLY what the original poster meant, and that's all my post was, a clarification.

Third: Please, someone who is so wrapped up in a game that it effects how they act in the real world, has no chance of "chewing me up" or "making me leave"

    Greetings to you all!

Now, i have been a long time reader of the forums, but this is my first post..
I have had my eyes on EQ2 for a long time and really want to try it out, but as you all know, the game requires high spec system, and im not sure mine can take it..
As i saw this post, a light was seen at the end of the tunnel :)
A request, if possible, could any of you active players send me a trial account? Maybe we could then meet up in-game and go wreak some havoc together:) But only if you want to.. At least consider lending me a key:) Would be great!

    Regards
    Dragohr

  • JodokaiJodokai Member Posts: 1,621

We could lend you a key but you'd still have to get the disks from someone. If you know someone who would lend you the disks they would probably give you a buddy key too.

  • WardooWardoo Member Posts: 47

Yeah EQ2 guys saw my Signiture and got mad ::::01::... You did not even recognize that I'm playing EQ2 and I''ll be playing EQ2. But in my opinion 4 characters are NOT ENOUGH... That was the whole point. If there are some idiots (except Jodokai od course <--- the only guy who actually understood it) who don't know what IRONY IS or unfortunately did not hear about FREEDOM OF SPEECH law (Larry Flynt would have a nice duscussion with you ::::01::) I would just feel sorry for you ::::21::.
