It was close between fantasy and sco-fi but for me at least a well done fantasy game will always be my first choice(unless its Bioware).
Hold on Snow Leopard, imma let you finish, but Windows had one of the best operating systems of all time.
If the Powerball lottery was like Lotro, nobody would win for 2 years, and then everyone in Nebraska would win on the same day. And then Nebraska would get nerfed.-pinkwood lotro fourms

I could have added tons of more settings and definitely got rid of romance (Which was a joke).
But there was only 10 options for polls.
I think of games like sim city and colonization and jungle stuff like tomb raider... they don't really have much of a spot in my poll. or at sea pirate games etc... oh well
Fantasy even though I'm a sci-fi person. BioWare and Bethesda have made it an easy decision.
Sci-fi games; be it Eve Online or Sins of the Solar Empire tend you throw you out into empty space moreso than concentrate on interesting colonie. Mass Effect's universe was a nice setting with he varied colonies and alien worlds and all.
Fantasy games, MMOs or otherwise tend to lean towards immersion more though.
I could almost like Sci-Fi, I sure watch the channel a lot, but I've always liked fantasy games a lot better. There was this one game called Earth and Beyond that I was kind of starting to get into. It was pretty cool, but then it went away. Eve, I cannot get into. I felt like an accountant more than a gamer when I tried that. Anarchy Online was cool, but I couldn't get past the character models. But it was alright because they didn't do away with the kind of "magic" aspect of the game. That's pretty much why I like fantasy so much. Magic!
I really like playing sci-fi style games simply because most of the stuff if not beyond the realm of possibility. Will be be making giant death balls that destroy an entire planet? Most likely no, but traveleing throughout space in ships in in the realm of possibility for this up-coming generation. At some point it stops becoming science-fiction and just becomes science.

Call me cynical, but I don't have high hopes for this next generation. At least here in America. I can't speak too much for other countries because I honestly don't keep up with them too much. But I know that education, Math, and Science don't matter too much to this country right now. About the only thing that it gets is some lip service, but beyond that nothing.
We're still sending up the space shuttle for pete's sake. It's 80's technology! We should be almost 3 decades ahead of that! We went to the moon, then we crawled back into our shells or stupidity again. Come to think of it, I would say the shuttle is more than 3 decades old technology. I bet we could have done that even sooner if the exploration missions hadn't been scrapped.
But what important here is more government subsidies. Not more advancement. And those government subsidies have been doing such a wonderful job so far, haven't they????

I prefer fantasy. But lately it's been trivialized.
For me, nothing beats a really well done fantasy setting. One with high magic, heavy danger, and scary scenarios.

It was a close pick between fantasy and horror.
